You can have a maximum of 12 troops and 2 dreadnoughts whether they are in your garrison or in combat.
Each combat space lets you deploy 2 units(troop or dreadnought) to the conflict PLUS whatever troops you gain that turn
For example, if you already have 2 troops in your garrison, and then you go to carthag. You can then deploy 3 troops to the conflict. If activate training drones that turn, you can deploy it as well. Then if you play the Secret forces intrigue, that would be another 2 troops you can deploy.
You couldn't get any more units at the end because you already have 12 in total.
And that is why going to heighliner means you can deploy all 5 troops(+2 more from the garrison if you have them) in one turn, because you acquired those troops in that turn.
ahhhhh thank you for this nice explanation; I gotta keep hitting them combat zones to deploy my whole stock pile of troops 😤
The 12 troop limit comes from the physical games piece count restriction in case you're curious!
yeah someone in chat was mentioning that; after this match though I think I finally have a better understanding on the troop deploying/restrictions, just gotta keep hitting combat spaces!
