    Thank you for sharing these. I always see your lovely bands around your head when you're making videos and was curious how to make one. I've not been crocheting for long and I've learned from TH-cam videos. I've never seen anyone move their fingers as quickly as you do in this video. At first I thought you had sped up the video, then realized that it's your own speed. WOWZER, you're like a machine. THANK YOU again for sharing this. I'm off to make one of my own now.

      Haha! Yep, in fact I never thought I was that fast until other people started pointing it out when I would work on my crochet projects during church and such. :)

    Loving the crochet scrunchies. Also the tip with making your own elastic ties as the store bought ones don't last long enough for my liking.

    I used to do something similar to these back in 1970s for my sister. No beads or tassels though.
    Actually your hair tie chains were belts for the bell bottoms. Lol. But when didn't have elastics used the hair tie chains-- no tassels-- for hair by wrapping it around until tight. You brought back a LOT of memories. Great-Gramma used to put one part with a loop up down ponytail to length wanted then wrapped around (hair) ponytail several times leaving the loop above the wraps. Then pulling end through the loop & tightening leaving ends hanging down.

      I love them, he has made me four sizes so far and they are typically all I use except when doing the three strands at a time. I may have him make me and L hook some day and see if that works better for the three strands

    I love making these. I do have a suggestion for anyone that finds themself with a tight stitch around the elastic. Place the elastic along a small crochet hook, knitting needle or even a pencil & stitch around the 2 pieces together. I find I can fit more stitches & they slide nicely along the elastic. I have a thick head of hair & a tight stitch. I was finding my crochet wasn't big enough to allow the elastic to fully stretch. Just do it for the initial stitch around the band.

    When we were on the boat I crocheted scrunches and hair ties and sold them in consignment stores for extra cash. They were big hits as were the baby Sandler with star fish and dolphins 🐬 I crocheted.

    I'm not talented in crocheting but I have made at over 100 scrunched for my granddaughters. They are easy to make and I buy clothes at thrift stores and use the fabric for the scrunchies so they are cheap to make.

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, the cloth ones are super easy, I made a bunch of those in the past too. The ones I made from leftover stretch velvet from my dance costumes I would make were the best as they were not only pretty but had a nice hold because of the fabric

      That is what I am wondering too about hair ties. Maybe it depends on the yarn? Cotton or linen probably would stay better than wool or synthetic yarn.

  • @NS-pf2zc
    @NS-pf2zc 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh I want to make some so badly! I've put what I view as"fun stuff" like crocheting and knitting due to the fact that I'm trying to stay on top of everything else. Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and take some "me time" to do it. Another commenter mentioned you had some stretches for carpal tunnel Syndrome? Where would I find that? Milking is starting to take it's toll.
