Oh yes ABAY did really well in 猫眼 market share of viewership and other ratings, actually ahead of both CXS2 and DuNianHua, both big budget period dramas which typically attracts much more viewers than a modern day drama like ABAY, going by past stats. Yet, ABAY's David not only held its own but slayed 2 Goliaths in viewership mkt share🎉. For this alone, gotta say ABAY's Songyun n xukai did a fantastic job! probably stunned those who had earlier presumed that big budget, greatly anticipated and hyped up blockbuster CXS2 wld surely steamroll tiny ABAY! well turns out in many ways ABAY's David triumped over those 2 Goliaths despite not having big marketing budgets and despite Tencent's obvious bias towards promoting its favoured CXS2. Bravo Abay🎉😊

Cheng PeiPei was my martial arts idol when I was growing up. Her iconic scenes have been copied over and over in modern Chinese movies/dramas and during the heyday of spaghetti Western movies and cowboy TV. You know, the woman coming into town in that big hat with a long veil, men watching her as she enters the restaurant and then sitting alone at the table with her sword by her hand. And, seconds later, she beats up the men who came to her table to bully her :). You can see this iconic scene these days and know it was Cheng Pei Pei who did it first. Even the cowboys do it--entering into town, then striding into the bar and then at the bar, all the other men coming forward to chase him out. LOL. Yup, for me, echoes of Cheng Pei Pei! May she rest in peace. I think I'm going to give Dashing Youth a try. Maybe it'll keep my interest. I'm in a drama rut since The Double. Have a good week, Marcus!
Morning Marcus, thanks for the update as usual. I LOVE♥ As Beautiful As You... I really like the development of each character in the drama. How Xu Kai portrayed Han Ting is so on point. Tan Songyun as Ji Xing also a good balance for Han Ting. Even the other character is so easy to watch and make sense why we need their presence. What I love more is most of the female characters are very smart, fierce and also stay true to their self and their principle. Well done to the whole production team. Usually I will not watch drama that has not come up with full episode. But this one I wait patiently and enjoyed every episode. ♥😁
I’ve watched all Dashing Youth episodes that’s currently out. Loved it. It gives me Blood of the youth which I know this is the prequel to that drama. Thanks for the Updates. As Beautiful As You has just a little over 400 more ratings than Interlaced Scenes. I chose to watch the first, because can't watch everything, so only started on Interlaced Scenes which I might come back to later since it looked interesting. I think ABAY is a rather classic business romance, pleasantly performed, not too demanding, and the vistas of Qingdao as setting are cleverly chosen, so Qingdao tourism office wrote a piece about them! Although by episode 31 or so, it changes direction and a new character is introduced in ep33 which may or may not affect the drama, from the bits in previews. So, 6.9 sounds reasonable at the moment. Once the final episodes are totally released, it will fall or rise. Since I like Tan Songyun, and Ao Ruipeng -who is in guest role-, from other dramas, and found Xu Kai quite good in the first 2/3, and despite the closeness to XK's role in BCE, I am still expectant there. I had a peek at first episode of Dashing Youth, which is full of battles and pretty CGI ; perhaps I shall watch it later too. LYF2 as #1 this week is expected -- but I still have to finish it. Feeling tired : I am perhaps a victim of c-drama watching fatigue ! "Come Drink With Me", "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" are among the movies I most fondly remember ; RIP to the excellent actress - I'm sorry that she had to suffer before joining the stars in heaven.

I don't remember well any in that cast although ML Zhang Jiong Min featured as support in a few I did watch since Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me and this would be his 6th ML role according to filmography. From my notes, he played Fù Zhèng Chū the former classmate of Sang Zhi who had an unrequited crush on her in the beginning of Hidden Love. It is 3rd drama FL role for Jiang Zhi Nan but I did not see those dramas before.

Watching As Beautiful as You now, and feel like the Douban rating is too low. Should be a 7.5 at least. Tan Songyun and Xu Kai are always solid actors. I'm enjoying them in this drama as well.
I'm watching both "As Beautiful as You" and "Interlaced Scenes". Regarding ABaY's rating, its too low imho. It's a very good script and for once there is some PDA, but most of all the chemistry with both Leads is so strong. To me personally, Xu Kai has redeemed himself in this drama since "Best Choice Ever" was lackluster and disappointing. As for, IS's rating, it's about right. This is a really good drama and with 15 episodes, one can get caught up and binge the entire drama in one day. Good to see that "IS" rates as number one in Web dramas, it should be there for a while, it's that good. However, in my opinion, "Lost You Forever S2" has lost the essence of what made Season 1 so good. I'm finding myself about ready to Drop it. Thanks Marcus.

I put in a message for them to fix it. And ABaY is still loading their episodes and translating them on Myasiantv. (I'm on Ep 33) Which translates faster than YT. BTW, I'm trying out "My Wife's Double Life". So far it's sorta middle of the road. I must be getting burned out on C-Dramas. gasp the horror lol
As beautiful as you should hv a higher rating than douban 6.9, chked out the ratings comments in douban - its pretty obvious from many of the low raters' comments that they did not even watch the drama🙄, purely on a mission to drag down the ratings, eg some outright said screenplay altered from the original.book therefore it must be rated low🤔. Apparently its not uncommon for 黑子/ "haters" ( 'professionals' sent by competitors or their fans?) to deliberately flood the ratings of some targeted artistes with one stars just to drag it down. So if the artistes hv huge popular and activist fan base that will be advantage, if the fans are more laidback or in Songyun's case, her audience are the general public 强大的观众缘(ie not strictly her exclusive fans but will consistently watch her dramas on tv） including older generation who are not as aggressive or web- savvy as others. Then the ratings are more easily manipulated by the haters 黑子。。。

I don't remember well any in that cast although ML Zhang Jiong Min featured as support in a few I did watch since Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me and this would be his 6th ML role according to filmography. From my notes, he played Fù Zhèng Chū the former classmate of Sang Zhi who had an unrequited crush on her in the beginning of Hidden Love.
It is 3rd drama FL role for Jiang Zhi Nan but I did not see those dramas before.

I'm watching "As Beautiful As You" I'm enjoying it very much. I feel the score for it should have been higher.
Not so bad for As beautiful As You! compared to other dramas which were breaking records but lower ratings.
Watching As Beautiful as You now, and feel like the Douban rating is too low. Should be a 7.5 at least. Tan Songyun and Xu Kai are always solid actors. I'm enjoying them in this drama as well.

I'm watching both "As Beautiful as You" and "Interlaced Scenes". Regarding ABaY's rating, its too low imho. It's a very good script and for once there is some PDA, but most of all the chemistry with both Leads is so strong. To me personally, Xu Kai has redeemed himself in this drama since "Best Choice Ever" was lackluster and disappointing. As for, IS's rating, it's about right. This is a really good drama and with 15 episodes, one can get caught up and binge the entire drama in one day.
Good to see that "IS" rates as number one in Web dramas, it should be there for a while, it's that good. However, in my opinion, "Lost You Forever S2" has lost the essence of what made Season 1 so good. I'm finding myself about ready to Drop it.

@@peggytanaka8168 Thank you. I need to add that one to my list. I can't go any further on "Interlaced Sceneries" because IQiyi has Ep 5 all jacked up on the Eng subs. I put in a message for them to fix it. And ABaY is still loading their episodes and translating them on Myasiantv. (I'm on Ep 33) Which translates faster than YT.
BTW, I'm trying out "My Wife's Double Life". So far it's sorta middle of the road. I must be getting burned out on C-Dramas. gasp the horror lol

As beautiful as you should hv a higher rating than douban 6.9, chked out the ratings comments in douban - its pretty obvious from many of the low raters' comments that they did not even watch the drama🙄, purely on a mission to drag down the ratings, eg some outright said screenplay altered from the original.book therefore it must be rated low🤔. Apparently its not uncommon for 黑子/ "haters" ( 'professionals' sent by competitors or their fans?) to deliberately flood the ratings of some targeted artistes with one stars just to drag it down. So if the artistes hv huge popular and activist fan base that will be advantage, if the fans are more laidback or in Songyun's case, her audience are the general public 强大的观众缘(ie not strictly her exclusive fans but will consistently watch her dramas on tv） including older generation who are not as aggressive or web- savvy as others. Then the ratings are more easily manipulated by the haters 黑子。。。
Agree. Xu Kai has a dedicated group of haters who downgrade everything he does. I'm not caught up yet, but it's solid so far as I've seen.
