My dad bought me the Sorcery! Series as a birthday present way back in 2002, I loved it then, I love it now :)

I am twelve years old, but my dad passed down these books to me and i love them! I am a big fan of fantasy books in general, and i really enjoyed the writing as well. I remember doing these as early as seven. I bet there is no one who relates to that though. During the review, you constantly say the time that these books were popular (which is understandable) however i got the impression that these books were only to that standard (that of the late 80s Early 90s) when tbh i still enjoy them today despite them being so old mostly because i think they are well written.

+Dragon Lover thank you for your comment- it's great to hear a younger point of view and that Fighting Fantasy still has its fans! I hear they might be republished soon and inspire a new generation.
I have a son myself and look forward to handing down my Fighting Fantasy books to him.

Oh, FF was my introduction to the hobby. I was 9 years old when I got Deathtrap Dungeon, with no clue about Fantasy Literature (except Fairy Tales). So, FF series led me to start reading fantasy books in general and helped shape my preferences and references.
I certainly owe FF (and so does many Brazilian players of my generation) as it introduced me to RPGs in general.

Here in Brazil we basically started with fighting fantasy game books (the citadel of chaos was first released in 89), but soon enough titles as GURPS, Fighting Fantasy rpg and an imported Portuguese version of D&D basic set were available. Nice to note that in 91 a publisher called GSA released the first brazilian rpg, Tagmar. Some people used to play before, but they had to play using english written books (hard to find in the early 80s) and more often photocopied books.

Sergio do val thanks for your comment- I never appreciated quite how wide spread a simple British series of game books was!

A couple of years ago Ian Livingstone was the guest in a very popular talk show around here. Definitely Fighting Fantasy has a special place in our hearts and minds.

Check out the new fantasy novel Kandor The Warrior by Leo. Great plot and absorbing story. Twists and turns and good characters. I could not put it down!
