This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This Core Concept video focuses on Marcus Tullius Cicero's work On Friendship, specifically on his discussion of the nature of genuine friendship. Cicero takes it to involve accord or agreement, mutual good will, and affection. Cicero also maintains that friendship in any full sense can only develop and exist between good people

I'm a novice to Philosophy, and planning on studying it for my A-levels. Your videos seem very education and accessible. Thank you for doing what you do. :)

You’re a really great teacher. I regret not taking more than one philosophy course during college. This definitely helps to make up for it.

Prof Sadler, during the set of Core Concept videos you're currently producing on Cicero, do you plan on revisiting De Finibus? If so, will you please give a shout out to it as the origins of the Lorem Ipsum placeholder text (www.makeuseof.com/tag/lorem-ipsum-case-wondering/)? The font-o-philes will thank you!

No, the set I'm producing are on On Friendship.
Yes, I'll eventually revisit On The Ends.
And No. That's a fine topic for you to create your own video on, not something for me to add to my videos

Then they're probably not genuine friends
