    Those purple plants were so beautiful. Why couldn't you save them and plant them elsewhere? Such unnecessary waste and destruction

      I was thinking the SAME thing. It made my stomach hurt to see them discarded like that. They are living organisms and it was shameful and disrespectful to Mother Nature to rip them out like they did.

      I thought that too. No reason to throw out perfectly good plants.

      Are those flax bushes the ones you are talking about? I agree. You can replant them elsewhere and they will flourish again.

    I loved what you did only exception is the walkway. Now they will be tracking the dirt onto the beautiful deck. I would have kept the cement walkway and resurfaced it easy to do and I would have replaced the number 5 next to the light like the one you had on the fence. Also the foxgloves don't bloom very long I would have planted something that is tall and lasts through fall. Not sure what grows well there.

    After I recovered from the nice plants that got wasted (someone would have taken them), I was impressed with the technology of that light and sprinkler device. Couldn't find links in the description....
    Overall, a very nice update!

    Painting a front door is very achieveable. Ripping out most of the plants, laying new turf, planting hundreds of new plants, hiring a skip - not achieveable to most people these days. I'd love to see a garden makeover on a very tight budget. Very few people would have the money to do a makeover like this.

    Looks great! Good work. However for concrete surfaces we use Resene Limelock undercoat and then 2 coats of X200 finishing paint. Much better coverage and adhesion. If the concrete fence lasts with the straight coat of paint then awesome

    GORGEOUS COTTAGE LOOK. Lovely plantings and plant choices. Where's the 'Big Reveal' with the Owner? Front deck & steps look great and timber stain choice really nice blend with the brickwork. Fence and trim colours thoughtful and complimentary.
    The head height placement of the front light / camera however is too low.
    The path - couple of things...
    First; suggest avoid using those cheaper house bricks with the holes, these make great homes for spiders / slugs / snails etc.... Suggest use solid edge pavers instead - not much price difference. Second; even with compacting... loose surface not ideal, particularly with any elderly, or kids,( kids bikes!) and more maintenance if very wet, also eventually more weed growth. Prefer paving. The front fence, aesthetically get it about following the original step down, but maintaining height straight across would have provided more privacy from the road.
    Agree with Emer - as below. Unless you are able to do all yourself the labour costs to rip out all that concrete and lawn ,garden and remove, and purchase, delivery, spread of new soil and new turf would be exorbitant. Not everyone has 'a team of mates' to come around and do it all in one day, or even several days, for free. Even a quote just to run a new drip irrigation system around and mulch over can run into $100's. Many, without a production timeframe to work to, might also prefer to 'weed & feed' the existing lawn, slowly over several months to bring back to healthy state. So, some great ideas and execution, but really depends on budget and purpose. ie; is someone going to live there and maintain or tidying up for a quick flip?

    What sort of nail gun do you use for the picket fence? I was told it has to be a coil gun but happy for suggestions

    • @devoncsmith2696
      @devoncsmith2696 ปีที่แล้ว

      The type of gun you saw used was the Paslode brad nailer. Not sure if was angled type, but a straight one will be sufficient. Ryobi has brad nailers too. If you don't want to spend the earth, spend some money instead on a cordless drill driver set and get some screws. Drill pilot hole first and screw into place. May take longer to complete the job, but at least you will be saving more cash in the end.

    I wonder why SO MANY homeowners block out the light and reduce the attractiveness of their houses by planting big shrubs and trees right in front of their windows. Seems really daft to me.

    The entrance is very unreliable why I should turn corners, it's front garden not back garden it should be shortcut entrence beside fence aligned with the door or cross directly with no corners and will look better too, good luck
