from the sound of this Gabrielli should be as well-known as Paganini, yet a week ago I hadn't heard of him. Can't fathom why his music isn't performed by every major cellist. thanks Walvis2007--this beautiful performance is very special.

I agree. It was part of a bigger concert so I had to the use the same cello and couldn't tune down, but I love it with the scordatura.

Domenico Gabrielli (15 April 1651 or 19 October 1659 - 10 July 1690) was an Italian Baroque composer and virtuoso cello player. He was apparently not related to the Venetian Gabrielis.
