Actually there were 3 climaxes in this novel, in chapter 2, 12, 23! As well as 2 sub-climaxes in chapters 7, 17 .. Also, as for the part of Hester and Chillingworth, we are already told that Hester never ever loved Chillingworth and that's in chapter 4. (The Interview). Nice video, thank you for this!
i just know that he chose to write the novel set in the 17th century because his ancestor was a judge at the salem witch trials which even made him change his name because he was so ashamed of it. So i guess a parallel can be drawn between the authors shame and maybe Dimmesdale? Both ashamed but unable to process the guilt years later.
