The room down grade from what you booked is a common scam, not just in Phuket, but also in Bangkok. If you have the photos of the booking tell them you are going to call the Tourist Police and you'll get the room you actually booked.
I recently visited in Sep23, stayed 5 mins away from Patong Beach, got a wonderful room, walked around bangla road, walked almost everywhere, went for all the sites 1500bhat 8 hours private taxi, paragliding etc, had no issues. One thing we did was just bought all booze from 7eleven, never ever sat in any bar as it was just too crowded ....I dont drink that much anyways...best advice I can give is just walk around and enjoy the culture, the nightlife, and beaches...but avoid shady activities...if you do, you will have great time. I found the people all friendly and nice and welcoming. I am going back next year but this time around will include Krabi :) :)

the same thing happened to me , i booked a hotel in agoda , when i went there to check in they showed me a completely different room and said the hotel was completely booked. then i took video and photos of the room and complained to agoda, then complained in reception, after that they gave me my room which i saw in the agoda photos..
Very good advice and very relevant but I am very surprised that Jet-Ski owners are still able to fleece the tourists with their 'damage' scam when for years if not decades this particular scam has been well publicised. I would have thought that most tourists coming to Thailand would have been well acquainted by know with this scam and therefore avoided Jet-Ski owners like the plague !!
I learned the hard way for a ping pong show , free entry but drinks cost a fortune , paid $500 Australian cause got talked into buying 8 ladies lady drinks not knowing the price , wasn’t to fussed fussed but lesson learned, only 4 drinks myself lol, my advice if you want to go , go to the paid entry ones drinks are normal price
Had a similar thing happen to me. Not far from BKK. They blocked the entrance I was the only one with my gf. They tried to overcharge me. Scammed by a street touter taking me there. They made out like they didn't know what I was talking about. Paid about half of what they were asking and pushed my way past the workers.

Thanks for the information. It is important to know where the Smart Bus stop is because touts for more costly transport will try to misdirect you away from it. When I used the minibus we did not book any tours and the minibus driver tried to unload us 2 KM away from our hotel. We knew where our hotel was located and the driver grudgingly took us there after our protests. The jetski operators are famous for their bald faced scams.

I have been living in Phuket as a retired expat for 30 years now with my Thai Wife ....... Yes mini and smart bus is you choice or a friend picking you up at the airport . Taxi service is much cheaper in Bangkok . Stay away from strangers aproaching you at the airport . Yes I traveled and worked all over Asia with surprises too late after the fact especially in Manila Phillipines . Remember to learn to say the word NO politely as you are the tourist of choice and make friends with Thai People before you leave your country to visit Phuket Thailand .
My husband was/is a taxi driver, and always fair, he said Thai or foreigner, always the same price. Sometimes less, if they are leaving and have very little cash left.

But I learned from my past mistakes and will not get real estate scammed again on Phuket or anywhere else in Thailand . The various scams presented in this clip do not happen only in Phuket. In Bangkok and other popular tourist cities are also happening. Where there are a lot of tourists ,there would surely be a group of tricky people like this. But we will not be difficult to notice. Because these people tend to bother you and give you extra convenience so that you don't have to go to service counters that show prices openly, and have a clear name of the service provider which their prices are all regulated by law.
If you are a little naive, too faithful, trusting everyone, doesn't learn from your mistakes, doesn't understand how to dress or behave around people, if you don't inform yourself about things, doesn't understand common sense. Then you don't have to go to Thailand to get scammed, it will happen everywhere for you.

Let’s just say every where you go things seem nice and great life is so nice like a vacation people are so friendly but be never turn a blind eye and there’s always things that go on on the island….every island behind the vacation scene they see with their eyes because it’s always another side.

I don't think you can say Phuket as a whole for all these scams. I think this happens a lot more in the cities like Patong. I have been to Phuket twice staying at Nai Yang Beach and never had the problems mentioned in this video. Then again, I go there to relax from a stressful job rather than partying.

Get a place with a kitchen and fix your own foods, or street foods which are much cheaper but unhealthy a lot of times, but really staying away from seafood or popular touristy places.
RULE OF THUMB: Anything you rent be it a Airbnb or hotel or motor bike or car rental or golf cart rental on the islands….I have a big one about the gulf carts but I’ll be back with that one…Always take photos AND video, Look around at first for any damages and REPORT THEM RIGHT AWAY. Now going back to the golf carts. Most of the islands there are no car rentals so there are only motor bike or golf cart rentals. Most of the owners do not keep up the maintenance of the rentals, and they will stick the repairs with the renter. And they have you sign a contract and have your credit card on file. I have a story but I won’t go there right now. You have to be very very careful make sure you read reviews BEFORE renting. Another thing is with the golf cart rentals, even though you have to lock the bars to prevent theft, there is still room for, let’s just call them “some people” who are able to go with a hose to take out some gasoline, so it is best to only fill the gas at 1/2 full. It is a scam where some people who are less fortunate are able to go around with a tiny hide that is big enough to fit under the golf cart seat, so if you visit San Pedro, Belize for example these are some things to look out for. But you always want to be aware and view soon as you check in or rent anything, look for any damages and report right away and take video and photos.
Helpful advice! I never get scammed and have travelled all over. Why? Because I shoot video of EVERYTHING. I'd video my tailor/fabric/color/fit, the scam travel stop, the whole exterior of the jet ski/scooter/bike/car, . Whip out your phone and shoot! You have video on your cell phone. If they ask what you are doing tell them it's for your TH-cam channel. If they ask the name just make one up. They will leave you alone. I even video walking up to the hotel desk. PLEASE STOP PAYING THE SCAMMERS and/or ACCEPTING THIER SCAM! The jet ski guy I would have video'd him pointing the camera saying, "This man is scamming me right now trying to tell me I damaged the jet ski."

I went to a seafood restaurant when I visited 2 weeks ago. They paid 290baht for quite a big fish. I asked a lot of questions to make sure it wasn't a base price. Sometimes they will tell you a base price of 290 and increase it according to the weight.
If you're on your own with a backpack then the airport link is best as long as your hotel is close by the station . If you are two or three with suitcases then it is absolutely best to get a taxi .... door to door so convenient.

Everything from trying to enjoy dinner or a cocktail, to a tour of the city, to the most 2 relaxing things you could do your room to sleep or time at the beach were not good. Extra fees. Being took advantage of, robbed essentially. That does not sound like good relaxing time to me.
Thailand is my favourite place to visit, done x5 and will do more, but I did get nailed at a bar area in Patong away from the main drag near Hard Rock April 23. Those who know where, will know where I'm talking about. I had been drinking and was feeling jovial until I added up my spend for the night the next day. 10000 baht which is a descent amount. I wasn't drunk by any standard, but the bar staff would not return my change Straight away, they would wait and add the next drinks. Anyway, make sure you get your change before you leave the bar, some staff will make out they are busy, and avoid you. Wait until you get your change.

I have just been 3 weeks in Phuket, never had any issues, always got a fair price in the restaurants, no problem when i rented a car etc. I simply dont recognize any of the things you mention, tuk tuks where always the same price for the same distance

You probably don't look like tourist 😂 For the past 2 weeks i spent in krabi and phuket i had chances to get scammed everyday but they make it obvious so you just say no for their offers . Thesr scams are not just in phuket same thing is happening in bangkok . I've lived here for 6 years now. And decided to try a restaurant recommended to me, very nice food, but was shocked at the bill, as he,said, service charge and VAT, I have NEVER seen that before. Unfortunately I will not return to that restaurant.

Bangladesh another country looking to scam or eat money off people where they can, and I’m also a Bangladeshi but from the uk, Thailand may require health insurance as they state but hardly check due to high numbers of incoming travelers they are far too busy, like the channel stated if need you can buy there or from click of a button on your phone there and then but I pretty much doubt you would need, was there last year bang in covid and didn’t even check proof of vaccination or anything lol I’m off to Phuket again next month February 22nd so can’t wait, if you not been before you will fall in love with the place, ticks all the boxes!!!! ✅
If not and you’ll rather have peace of mind you can buy axa health and travel insurance which covers for covid aswell for £35 British pounds or roughly 4000- 4500 takka that’s what I did.
Krabi Resort ,232 aonang beach, Tambon Ao Nang, Muang Krabi 81180 scammed us . Our bedsheets and pillow covers at Krabi resort were stained, which typically occurs when they are washed alongside other clothes. On 13th September, we were unexpectedly charged 1850 baht when we didn't have time to dispute this and had to quickly catch a cab to catch a flight from krabi to bangkok.

Just back Advice :- DO NOT get into a game of connect 4 with any of the ladies on Bangla Road, they are experts and you dont know that every game you lose, they charge you 400 baht (approx £10) for their drinks, you think its for fun but its not, we paid 1500 baht for 4 beers..

30% tax is outrageous. The GST/VAT in Thailand is only 7% so anything exceeding that is going straight into the owner’s pocket.
Phuket has two international standard shopping malls : Junk Ceylon and Central . They have everything !

Thailand is my favourite place to visit, done x5 and will do more, but I did get nailed at a bar area in Patong away from the main drag near Hard Rock April 23. Those who know where, will know where I'm talking about. I had been drinking and was feeling jovial until I added up my spend for the night the next day. 10000 baht which is a descent amount. I wasn't drunk by any standard, but the bar staff would not return my change Straight away, they would wait and add the next drinks. Anyway, make sure you get your change before you leave the bar, some staff will make out they are busy, and avoid you. Wait until you get your change.

I have just been 3 weeks in Phuket, never had any issues, always got a fair price in the restaurants, no problem when i rented a car etc. I simply dont recognize any of the things you mention, tuk tuks where always the same price for the same distance
Happy to hear that, that's what we said in the beginning of the vlog Phuket is,one of the safest places to have a beautiful vacation, but if it did not happened with you, that doesn't mean can not happen with others, so knowing things and safety is a common sense.
You probably don't look like tourist 😂 For the past 2 weeks i spent in krabi and phuket i had chances to get scammed everyday but they make it obvious so you just say no for their offers . Thesr scams are not just in phuket same thing is happening in bangkok . If you say you never had issues you either declined all the scams or you got scammed and never even realised that you overpaid for something

I've lived here for 6 years now. And decided to try a restaurant recommended to me, very nice food, but was shocked at the bill, as he,said, service charge and VAT, I have NEVER seen that before. Unfortunately I will not return to that restaurant.

There are more places in Asia there you don’t get scammed at all, so don’t go to Thailand if you don’t travel outside the tourist circus!

Bangladesh another country looking to scam or eat money off people where they can, and I’m also a Bangladeshi but from the uk, Thailand may require health insurance as they state but hardly check due to high numbers of incoming travelers they are far too busy, like the channel stated if need you can buy there or from click of a button on your phone there and then but I pretty much doubt you would need, was there last year bang in covid and didn’t even check proof of vaccination or anything lol I’m off to Phuket again next month February 22nd so can’t wait, if you not been before you will fall in love with the place, ticks all the boxes!!!! ✅
If not and you’ll rather have peace of mind you can buy axa health and travel insurance which covers for covid aswell for £35 British pounds or roughly 4000- 4500 takka that’s what I did.

Krabi Resort ,232 aonang beach, Tambon Ao Nang, Muang Krabi 81180 scammed us . Our bedsheets and pillow covers at Krabi resort were stained, which typically occurs when they are washed alongside other clothes. On 13th September, we were unexpectedly charged 1850 baht when we didn't have time to dispute this and had to quickly catch a cab to catch a flight from krabi to bangkok.

I liked Bangkok, but there was thing I didn’t like was the cheating technique pin the Tourists by scamming the prices. Tourist is coming to the place for vacation having good time and relax , lo and behold their vacation leaving unhappy memories by unpleasant experience…. Tourism industry in Thailand should protecting the safety of their Foreign guest , not to be taken advantage of any kind…
Laat year in June 10 2023, fell inlove with the place and couldnt brush off the lovely wonderful memories and the scenery in there, ive went a total three times now in a span of 8 months

I gave $50 bill for pick up from airport to hotel. And the guy refused to give me any change back.
Now, instead only the scams, recommend or mention those restaurants that are not overpriced, areas to avoid, areas to go, prices that you recommend to pay, otherwise all is a scam!

Just back Advice :- DO NOT get into a game of connect 4 with any of the ladies on Bangla Road, they are experts and you dont know that every game you lose, they charge you 400 baht (approx £10) for their drinks, you think its for fun but its not, we paid 1500 baht for 4 beers..
