►Synopsis ：
In the 9th year of Wude Period of Tang Dynasty, Li Changge, the daughter of the former crown prince, accidentally escaped from the military coup in the palace. During her escape, Changge encountered the secret service agent of a grassland tribe, Ashina Sun, who was under the pseudonym of Qin Zhun. They got to know each other through a fight and their affection grew stronger. Changge smashed a conspiracy in Youzhou. However, at the same time, her identity was revealed, and she went to Shuozhou to escape capture. She hid herself beside Gongsun Heng, the governor of Shuozhou, to help him resist the invasion of the grassland forces, but she did not expect that the enemy general was Qin Zhun. Changge was shocked and distressed to discover Qin’s real identity. However, the situation in Yuzhou is in great danger. In order to gain time for reinforcements, Li Changge negotiated with Sun. For the sake of the overall situation, she was willing to be a prisoner and taken to the grassland. Then she accidentally learned that the Great Khan had an ulterior motive. Changge decided to temporarily put aside her personal vengeance, and risk her life to save the situation. In order to save Changge, Sun disobeyed the order of the Great Khan, but they were far apart from each other after that. After going through the arduous exile, Changge gradually understood the principle of the invincibility of the benevolent, and finally put aside her personal grievances. After discovering that the former forces of Sui Dynasty were the manipulators behind the scenes, Changge and Sun teamed up to protect the peace of Tang Dynasty and the grassland. They finally came to realize their deep affections towards each other and went to confront the crisis ahead.

I was iffy about Sher's actor until this episode. He's a complex character, smart enough to be clever but not a genius, Strong enough to be a great warrior but not a champion, always compared to someone who was his better in every way, but somehow he didn't really hate that person. These are complicated to pull off on screen, and I felt the actor sometimes was convincing and sometimes not, but the scene where he's getting drunk and pouring libations for Sun is brilliantly written and acted. Really impressive. I'd say Ashile Sher is the second most complex character in this after Li Leyan, for much the same reason. It's much harder to act weak than strong

I chose to watch this since I was searching for dramas with Zhao Lusi and found that also Dilraba and Leo Wu were in it as well. What a wonderful surprise and have truly enjoyed watching the excellent acting by all of them and the beauty of the ones in the cast I have never seen before. Just a delight to watch.

Sun said he can't let tang attack grassland. It's exactly what changge said in ep 19 & 20. She also couldn’t bear to see grassland attack tang. But sun didn’t listen. He was just obeying great khan and protecting changge forcibly. But changge Understands sun and also told that she will help him to save khan. That's the difference. He should have also understand changge back then. But he was just too obsessed with protecting her not her feelings or motherland. 😐😐😐
They were in a war back then. Changge also viewed Sun's people as enemies back then and was not looking to save his people at the time. Now she wants peace after going through her time at the temple and finding her purpose in life so she also desires to protect his people. It's called character development and it happens to both of them. You lack simple comprehension because the comparison between current Changge and Sun from back then is unreasonable and wrong. The current Sun is also working with her to help her people too.

@kara-xt8qc ...what the drama doesn't go into detail on is that the Han have also been expanding, invading, and taking lands from the various ethnic minority groups. These two people have been fighting for ages for land and struggling for power long before the start of the drama. That's the reality of history. Just because they start the drama at a point where the Gokturks are the ones going on the offense and attacking doesn't mean that they're evil and that the Han are innocent bystanders. The Han people have been trying to expand their dynasties long before this, and they have also taken land from the Turkic people and other minority groups in the area. It has been a vicious cycle of war and revenge over the years, so there is no good guy vs bad guy in this conflict. And Ashile/Ashina tribe isn't Mongolian. They are Turks.

If Sun had died in this episode, I wouldn’t continue watching. I’d be traumatized by the poor judgment of the director and spend my days wailing and crying 😂😂😂.
The jealous scene was so adorable. If looks could kill, Shuyu would have died a few times over on the spot. And when Changge grabbed Shuyu’s arm, I thought Sun was going to draw his sword there and then 😅. Shuyu has no idea that he nearly didn’t make it out of that courtyard alive.

Well, they're the ones who have to make tough decisions and sacrifices because they're at the center of the story and the ones having to save their peoples. What were you expecting? Changge and Sun are the characters moving this drama's plot. If it was only about the other couples, we wouldn't have much of any story. And if Sun and Changge just sat on their hands and didn't take any actions to bring change, what do you think would happen to their peoples?
