Paradise Lost history as told by Aaron Aedy's hair:
1991-1996 long hair
1997-2003 medium hair
2003-2021 no hair
I don't know why they got so much hate for this period. I saw them on this tour and it was awesome!
Because certain metalheads cant tolerate any deviation from what they've come to expect a band to be. Some bands stick with a formula, others mutate a formula in different directions. PL's music at this time might not have been as intense as their previous works, but if you really concentrate on the thematic content, I think Nick wrote his darkest and bleakest lyrics during this period of the band's career.
Good chorus, keyboards and ambient, but guitars without distortion.
I love this period in PL's career and I was very happy to see them live on the Host tour.
@@inigoa.c8380 indeed, they really sounded like Depeche Mode wannabees back then. I think their motto was really to challenge themselves from one album to the other, never repeating the same formula.
Great vocal performance indeed throughout this live recording. I consider myself one of the people who didn't really know what to think of post-draconian times era. I liked the melodies on one second and host, but i was missing the metal factor.

Awesome fucking concert! JFC, the years have sailed on WAY too fast. 1999 is FAR behind us now, and yet, I was in college back than, lol. Crazy how much different Nick looks now; yet still sounds badass. I mean seriously, how can anybody not love Paradise Lost, or Nick's vocal work in Bloodbath?!!!! He might have less hair, but the dude has such an evil tone on the 3 Bloodbath records that it can literally make your own "hair" stand on edge. No God Before Me.........fucking hell; you wouldn't even assume, from watching this video, that the same dude singing (that kind of reminds of Scott Stapp here, but WAY better) would be growling such dark and evil lyrics 20ish years after this video. Props to whomever posted this video \m/

PL always had amazing drummers but that guy is my favourite ever for the passion he shows on stage and also for the backing vocals. No idea why he left or got fired, but hope he still playing nowadays.
He left in 2004 because of "musical differences". His name is Lee Morris.
Agreed. He brought some very interesting drumming and grooves into their sound, which none of the following drummers could/can deliver.
Everything from 'Draconian Times' and to his final PL record 'Symbol of Life' is extraordinary.
I miss him in their sound - though he might not suit their more recent releases.
