I actually like the timber wolf prime, all prime omnipods, and I use 2 large pulse and 3 er medium lasers. I just have 2 firing groups. the right mouse button a large pulse and a er-medium, the left the large pulse and the 2 er mediums.
I run a very similar build on the Ebon Jaguar. My trials Timber Wolf was UAC-20 LA, 3xMP-Lasers & Lt. Active Probe LT, 3 tons ammo. Right torso & arm is all heat sinks. Shield with the right side then gut with the left. ;-)
Nice build indeed. I finished the challenge with a 4 Medpulse 4 SRM6 build. Up close and personal, with a big warm hug from the missiles for anyone reckless enough to come closer.
The first mech I've used when I started MWO was a TimberWolf S with UAC20 and 4 med lasers. I got the S since it had JJ. Quite the similar build, had less DPS of course, but its kinda more maneuverable. Will try this one on my C ^^
Gotta say, after seeing this, I changed the loadout on my Timber Wolf, and damn if it doesn't put out more damage than what I was running. Thanks for posting this!
I did the TimberWolf Challenge with my Omni-ed TBR-Prime with 4 Heavy Meds and 2 LB-5s, very cold build with almost no heat and the LB-5s does good damage with the 700m optimal
I somewhat prefer a pulseboat build. Just put A side torsos on yours, install MPLs in all hardpoints and fill with heat sinks and a mk1 targeting computer. Requires putting torso and arm weapons into separate groups and staggering them, but it's a lot of pinpoint damage (and therefore easy component destructions and kmdds)
Looked like a WHK-C running the A right arm, B left arm, 2 LB20-X AC, 1 ER Medium Laser, and probably 7 tons of ammo (or 6 tons plus either Laser AMS or a Clan Active Probe). Used to be my LB20 carrier, but the MCII-2 has that honor now. Only a couple people I've seen run dual LB20 on the Warhawk. It was fun while it lasted, but it's not really good for it anymore since the Warhawk is pretty much entirely superseded by the Marauder IIC Scorch and Mad Cat Mk II-2, which can both carry more and better backup weapons on top of the dual LB20.
I consider them backup weapons since I don't run enough ammo in them (1 ton/6 tubes instead of 1.5tons/6 tubes) and I stop firing them when I run hot. Primary weapons are the dual LBs. Quad SRMs are secondaries. Twin ERMLs are there for ammo emergencies and last ditch efforts.
i see no benefit from targeting computers. on paper they should be nice but those numbers don't seem to translate into anything meaningful on the battlefield. take the 75% targetting time bonus of the biggest targetting computer as an example. i see absolutely no difference in targetting time.
Man so jelly! I’m so close in all these challenges but the KMDD’s seem to allude me. Also guys thx for the advice from the comments section from the last video!
+Sunny Hill Take side torsos. Use a non-splash high alpha build and target bigger/slower mechs, or use a crit seeker(MGs, SRMs, large targeting computer, LBX) to ensure YOU get the damage credit for the arm that gets blown off when you pop a side torso.
The point of enemy strikes is for you NOT to dodge them so why would colored smoke differentiating the types be a thing? What would make sense is if outgoing strikes were a different color from enemy smoke since that actually happens irl.
Interesting...for whatever reason I always force myself to load up on at least two uacs cuz I always felt that was mandatory. Don't know why I never tried a hybrid build...
JGrim3 Yeah, quite surprised this works out too. I guess it's a combination of the fear of jamming and the fact that clan meds are super hot and don't feel like backup weapons.
Oddly enough, I kind of wish the strikes were distinguished by which side used it (ie if an ally used it, blue smoke, if an enemy used it, red) - though I do also like the idea of distinguishing features for the types of drops - though could do that with the type of marker (maybe a large flare for Artillery and a smoke for Airstrike)
Mechbays kannst du dir in "Faction Play" freispielen.
Danke dir.
Unten rechts ist "call to arms".
2018 Baradul is super chill Baradul. Amazing first game
It's good that the airstrike and arty smoke are not distinguishable, since it's a tactical option and you keep them guessing.
Damn, old school weapons, and decent heat management. This is a very "cool" mech. :)

I've been playing with a build that ha 2 LB-10s and 5 ER small lasers. Pretty effective for me and runs very cold. I like it!
I have the same build on this chassis. Thanks for the content.
I'd rather have my shots blocked by a dead mech than an invisible wall. The latter is quite unrealistic.
Good morning, Molten Metal.

Gr1nd0r did the same on my -S, no regrets
Lord Grell Ikr it's a very solid Medium Range Brawler that can also damage people long range
That first game was so good!

not sure if you can consider quad ASRM6s "backup weapons" ;)

I did the timby challenge with 8x medium pulse lasers, worked well.
Glad to see your lovin' for hill climb. IMHO one of the most underutilized skills. I'd also opt for targeting comp. tnx!
i see no benefit from targeting computers. on paper they should be nice but those numbers don't seem to translate into anything meaningful on the battlefield. take the 75% targetting time bonus of the biggest targetting computer as an example. i see absolutely no difference in targetting time.
because the bonus is not for lock-on time, but 'mech info time. targetting time =/= lock on time.
hardly worth the tonnage involved
5 MedPuLa Laser and 3srm6 that Rocks, too.
Is this still feasible? Looking for a goot setup for the current event mech....

What mouse do you use?
Game 1 Timbies have the 2 top spots on Dmg score...

i did this with a uac 20

I killed you with my timber, 4 mediums, a tag, 2 lrm15, 2 atm6, and BAP. The smaller atm's give it low profile ears, give it a try!
Pink or yellow
!coolshot
TriHard 7
It is a MadCat!!! :)
they should make friendly strikes green that would be nice
You getting in a bit of a rut there Baradul? So many of your recent videos have been some variation of "1 AC and a bunch of lasers".
