I was thinking about your well, you might want remove the brackets holding the pipes on the wood, put foam board around the bottom to insulate and then reattach the pipes on top of the foam board! Foam board is relatively cheap and you could also put some of that foam sponge insulation around the pipes for added insulation! I think it would save you a lot of work and wouldn't be too expensive if you thought it would do the trick! Just a thought! You could also put an old incandescent light bulb in there and leave in on when the temperature gets close to freezing......the heat would probably be enough to stop your pipes from freezing!
