But I’m so glad you got them. They are drop dead gorgeous. I can’t wait till they are going to fully grown. You deserve the world! Keep doing you! #RanchFam
BLAKE, how big do the black thumpering birds get?
Their like lil raptors bro. Definitely my favorite out of all the aviary birds. Aviary is absolutely amazing and they don’t know how lucky they are.
They are a little under 2ft tall.
They are not the biggest birds out their but they are really cool to watch and always up to something crazy..

I would be careful with what you feed the turacos specifically with grapes, apples and bananas. Certain types of fruit have a high content of iron, softbills can't process high amounts of iron very well and will get iron storage disease. An idea I have not necessarily for the aviary but, can you potentially get a pair of hill mynahs? They are excellent mimickers there are simply not enough breeders in the US to supply the demand.

Call me a weedhead but all I’m thinking is sitting on that porch with a spliff and my coffee while I enjoy my birds in their environment.😂

Blake when u first mentioned the bird types that were going n the aviary I never imagined anything like what birds u have picked out!! I was a little bummed because I could only think of some bland looking ducks etc. I’ve gotta say the birds u r choosing r gorgeous and unbelievable!!! I’ve never even heard of some of these. U have gone so far over the top with this aviary & bird selection! These r the coolest birds, I’d never imagined what u r collecting. VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE 👍🏻 even the ducks u picked r beautiful! This is so interesting to watch .. thanks for all the hard work. I love watching u & ur fam work together and grow the ranch 👌

I also watch Animal Wonders Montana. They are a rehab facility for “pets”, and other native species that get hurt. They have a couple of Turaccos as well. One is a red crested, and I’m not sure about the other. They live in cages unfortunately, so maybe you could adopt them?!

You should get cages build at least that big if not bigger for all your parrots! I know you said you can’t do a whole aviary but just that feeding cage size is way bigger than the cages they are in now!

Wow that is so cool, i remember recommending turacos months ago its great to see you have them now, and those trumpeters look awesome! ive never seen them before.
Each addition reminds me of the old walk through Aviary at the zoo...which they unfortunately have closed down over time. I used to love it because the birds were used to people there and you could see them really close...

There's lots of cute names for birds like Jewel and Sparkles or Kiwi and Mango for the colorful couple. People need to send in more name suggestions
Hey Blake, have you heard of the kakapu parrot? They're land dwelling friendly parrots and very large curious birds, they're too chunky to be able to fly. Im pretty sure they're a protected species so probably not a possibility but it would be so cool if you could get some. Also, can I suggest the names, Paul and Paulette for the grey winged 🤣 (they make a little oinky noise so naming them after Paul would be fitting, cos of his pig rescue I mean!) Also a good way to pick names would be to select every name suggested and print them out, and have a turtle pick them so it's a suprise to even you
I don't think he'll be getting a Kakapo... The entire Kakapo population is 249 living individuals, which is so few that literally all of them are tagged and have been named :)

I know you would have really tight security for the new birds, but please double check it because you never know what people would do to get to them. Robbie from Swamped had a very rare gator stolen a few years ago plus they set fire to the enclosure which killed a lot of freshly hatched babies. People can be very jealous of other people's possessions and will go to any length to take them. Love, love ,love your new additions. Beautiful aviary.

I love the birds. All the pretty noises they make it’s going to sound and look like you’re in the Amazon rainforest soon.
They say trumpeters like to fly with difficulty, into the trees at night, to roost 20 to 30 ft above the ground. These birds like to nest in holes in the trees or at the crown of a palm tree. You probably have to build them some kind of structure so they will nest. There aren't like ducks. They also will swim across rivers if need to be.
You picked some great species to work with, the facility and birds look great and I wish you great success

I know the feeling that you just want to sit down, relax and watch the birds. Even if they aren’t doing mutch.
I have also an aviary, I breed parakeets. My aviary is pretty large for the parakeets, its about the size of where your new birds are in now.
Its also my dream to have such a big aviary myself and to have more exotic birds like turacos.

The fruit tree in the start is "Muntingia calabura
Plant" or Aratilis here in Philippines. They just grow on here wherever there's unoccupied land. It grow great amount of fruit good for birds. Free food for birds. But also edible for human.

Great choice of birds and they are absolutely gorgeous, looking forward to seeing the updates on them and the rest of the residents of the aviary and what else you may get, hopefully some tropical breeds of pigeons and doves like a victorian crowned, nicober or bright coloured fruit doves.
I think I saw a couple of those canapé birds at the Animal sanctuary that was in the old sky dome in Toronto when I was in school… one of the workers was filling some food dishes and gave me a peace of fruit… they told me to stretch out my arm and hold my hand like a cup with the fruit on it one of the birds came and ate it while perched on my arm. 🤔🇨🇦
