Michael Gentry . . . Parsons was such a jovial guy, hard to imagine him scrapping against the likes of Petty, Pearson, Allison, Yarborough, and others to claim the NASCAR championship; but he did!

Loy Allen Jr. should have been black-flagged because at the start he beat Terry Labonte to the line. According to NASCAR rules, YOU CANNOT beat the pole-sitter to the line at the initial start.
Have to imagine that Dale was probably a bit annoyed with Marlin for pulling the the other 3 cars up to the lead pack and turning it into a 5 car shootout for the win. But the wreck wasn't Marlins fault, that was strictly between Earnhardt and Shepherd.
If Marlins engine had just blown apart instead of just losing power and then they were able to fix it, he never woulda been there to help Gordon & Martin & Dale probably woulda won that race and the 95 Winston Cup along with it. His was a move that eventually cost Dale that season's title along with about $1.5 million dollars...
The race that ultimately cost Dale Earnhardt the 1995 Winston Cup. If Morgan Shepherd doesn't wreck him on the final lap, he finishes in the top 5 instead of where he ended up and wins the championship, he only lost to Jeff Gordon by 34 pts that year...
@@RC.41 just like he beat mark martin in 1990 by 26 pts after mark was penalized for a part that wasnt illegal but childress kept complaining about and cost mark 45 pts. Karma works both ways.
How did those 4 cars continuously break away from the field? Seemed silly to hear Rudd getting huge fine and then watching the usual 4 just blow field away
Cars & Crew Chiefs had more power and less restrictions in those days. Basically the guys who knew how to build powerful engines coupled with drivers who knew how to get around the plate tracks always won damn near that was in those days Dale Earnhardt, Bill Elliott, Davey & Bobby Allison & Jeff Gordon and whoever was driving the #4 Kodak car...
Morgan Sheppard definitely dumped Earnhardt. He got loose yeah, but that only can be an alibi for the first contact but coming out of turn 2 he definitely turned in order to make contact with Dale again which was I guess intended only to ensure he had no chance to make a comeback in the final turns and tri oval. It even sounds like Sheppard lifted on throttle or tapped the breaks to not pass Earnhardt. Maybe Roush paid the Wood Brothers for helping Martin win 😅 Ford guys stick together I guess
Not saying Rusty would have made it, but why the eff didn't he go behind a car and draft instead of being the lead guy and wasting fuel? Never understood that.
Wallaces fault or his crew chief for not making him do that or explaining why it would be beneficial. He ended 5 laps short so there is no way he would have made it to the end, but maybe he gets another lap or 2 before he runs out. He never got the best mileage and watching this race live I knew he was going to run out, I just didn't know when. If other drivers were close they'd have tried to make it too.
What for? Sterling didn't do anything wrong. He pulled the 24, 21, and 15 to the front because his car was the fastest thing on the track, but that's fine. He pulled down out of the way and let them settle it amongst themselves. What happened to Dale was purely between him and the 21.
@@sicfrynut because he knows Earnhardt is the man to beat for the title and wouldn't lose as many points to Martin who is behind him in points going into this race. And Gordon was right. Not only did he not lose too many points to Martin gaining on him but he beat Earnhardt who was in a crash also. It worked out for Gordon 100% and he knew it. Jeff Gordon even being this young was always a racing genius. Calculating.
@@sicfrynut Like that other guy said, Earnhardt was Jeff's main competition at that time for the championship no way in hell he was going to help him plus the points leader following that event got a $100k bonus from NASCAR, since Dale got wrecked by Shepherd, it gave Jeff the pts lead and that $100k bonus...
Love them small block Ford Engines
Love re-watching these great memories. Keep them coming.
I was 13 years old when this race happened, I was watching it on TV, this was the race that made me fall in love with Talladega racing
Same age and experience man, I that whole year

The only top 10 finish for Loy Allen Jr. in his career
Was at this race, NASCAR the way it should be.

I took my son to this race. It took longer to get out of the parking lot after the race, than the actual race.

Wouldn't matter. The title was Jeff's in 1995, Earnhardt put up a good fight though.
Bad Booking dumb af comment.
He lost 60 points because of that crash and lost the championship by 34 points. How dumb are people
@@RC.41 some people are so dumb when they say somthing truly dumb they dont go afterwords in their head and say "why the hell did i say that?"
Dale lost because NASCAR Didn't throw a Caution when Terry Labonte spun on Pit Road with 5 Laps left

Yeah John did better then Michael has far has I know

Let's take a moment to appreciate the number 3, 4, and 6 (Dale, Sterling, Mark) were all pushing together!😂 Where was Number 5, Geoff Bodine?🤔
Oh yea, Terry LaBonte is in the Kellogg's #5. Boeing hasn't been in the #5 Levi Garret car for a bit.😂
Slyguy threeonetwonine he was in 2nd
Bodine in the #5 (1984-89)
@Oscar: Yep, had a senior moment.😂

2:08:44 I could play that flyby on repeat
Dale Earnhardt almost had this race won.
Mark Martins car was stronger Dale would not have won
Not saying Rusty would have made it, but why the eff didn't he go behind a car and draft instead of being the lead guy and wasting fuel? Never understood that.
Cause he sucked on the plate tracks, there's a reason he never won a pts paying race at either Daytona or Talladega...

Darell waltrip is so jealous ok Earnhardt it anit even funny. Notice how he never named Earnhardt!!!!!!!!!
Morgan turned him.

Earnhardt should have been pissed with Shepard, but she should have went down to the 4 garage and kicked Sterling's ass.

@@4fanintexas should be more curious as to why another chevy driver (gordon) went with martin instead of him. other than that, just a racing incident.
So, if anyone paid attention, Morgan Shepard explained exactly what happened. Dick Trickle was really the cause of that wreck.
