Thanks for the video all the way from the UK 😀. I bought an Acer aspire tc 1760 thinking it had a 300w PSU .. nope only 180w ! I was almost crying thinking Id have to go with a gt 1030 instead of my gtx 1650 . Saw a few posts about modding a tfx supply and then someone mentioned the dell connector . Did you find PSU fan still ran when the system was powered down ? Quite a few said there's did

I upgraded an Acer Predator from a 11400F core i5 CPU to a 11900F core i9 CPU and the performance gains when editing videos was outstanding. Unfortunately, I damaged the PSU when I installed an RTX3070ti without upgrading to a more powerful PSU. Now that I have the 6-pin to 24-pin adapter solution I will install an 800-watt PSU. The Acer only had a 500-watt power supply, but I ran it for weeks until it died. It also had 128GB DDR4 3200MHZ ram. Editing videos was a breeze with the upgrades installed.

With the original PSU and setup where would you connect the power cable for a 2.5" SSD? There doesn't seem to be any surplus power connection on the PSU?

That's pretty typical with pre-builts from the larger manufacturers that don't use standard ATX components. There's usually one or two extra SATA power cables but they are tucked away. If you're having trouble finding them get in there with a good flashlight and don't be afraid to take things apart. Just be careful.

Hello,i Hope Michael read this,i have acer aspire 1760 motherboard so its hard to find power supply for it as you know(i didnt know) until i bought GPU
if i try this 24pin to 6pin with FSP Froton HYDRO K PRO 750 ,it will work?
this is enought for me,i spent money, time and in the end...nothing
i read internet that my model of motherboard is hard to upgrade etc,but i will give it "last shot" whit this 24to6pin with this PSU
i worried only about damiging PSU,if the upgrade is impossible it is best to returnd PSU and my money.
    thank you if you answer!

  • @chrisleech1565

Is it not kind of odd to power the drives thru the motherboard. What can possibly be gained ? Michael I got to say that as a guy who nearly did a bunch of content using a hat mounted camera and thought better of it after realizing that my head is an awful tripod and won't manage as aa steadicam either... I suggest you consider going back to the tripod...One fixed over the work and a mic stand with a boom does the flying B-Roll camera. If you are not into the editing/rendering time factor, isn't there also a way of live switching between two (or more) cameras to a single H264 or MOV file? Just a fan..CGL

It's because these Acer computers came with SSD's, which are of course only 5v. The PSU's they use (ATX12V) are of a new standard, which reduce power consumption through only producing 12V power and not 5V or 3.3V. This means the motherboard has to convert it.

@@MichaelTheComputerGuy ok so here is my complete story - RECENTLY I CHANGED MY POWER SUPPLY FOR MY NEW GAMING CABINET, THAN I NOTICED MY PSU HAS A 24PIN CABLE BUT MY MOTHERBOARD DOESN'T HAVE THAT PORT. SO I PURCHASED 24 PIN TO 6 PIN ADAPTOR. AND NOW AFTER CONNECTING ADAPTOR WHEN I TURNING ON MY PC ITS TURN OF IMMEDIATELY 🥺🥺

@@jaat6969 That adapter may not be right for your system. You might consider replacing the case and motherboard. With that you'll have a more standard ATX system as opposed to what the manufacturer did.

If you have the problem and you bought another adapter of the same type and it still has the same problem the adapter is not the cause of the problem. It could be an issue with the power supply or motherboard or something else on the computer.
