Awesome version of a classic streamer. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comment Dan and you're welcome! My work is to show you some patterns and then teach the coming generations fly tying. These are the goals of Ívar's Fly Workshop. :)
This version works out great, you can also mix orange marabou with the yellow one both in the tail and the beard. We call that version Sunburst Black Ghost. That one version is really effective.

I totally recommend it to have the Black Ghost in your box for the Iceland trip this summer :)

That's a good fly , I have something similar I fish it in still waters deep Yellow is a good color for deep water.

      Thanks for your comment James!
I totally agree with you on the yellow colour for deep water. I fish this fly in the crater lakes of Veiðivötn and thus lakes are all deep and some have like an abyss just few meters out. Fished with fast sinking line and streamers, stripped quite fast. Yellow for those circumstances is great.

Very nice. I really like the look of that Ahrex streamer hook, especially round bend which appears to have a large gape. The traditional Black Ghost is an extremely popular fly in the US although it’s usually tied in the Rangeley style with feather wings. There is also a popular marabou variant. Your Zonker version is quite attractive. With only 2 tie-in points, have you ever had the zonker strip somehow come loose when fishing?

      Thanks Bob for the comment!
This NS115 type from Ahrex has a wider hook gape and I like that a lot too. They do have a line of classic streamer hooks called NS118. Most of my streamers videos are tied on that line of hooks. It kind of depends on if I use zonker or feather wing, or even hair wing. I have this fly in the box always with feather wing, zonker and a marabou. I like the marabou a lot! Caught my biggest trout last season on a marabou on hook #2 in a stormy weather in the last trip of the year 20th September.
Ummm nope, I've never had any issues with the wing tying it in on only two points. But I guess for durability, it would be best to wrap the wire around it and tie it like a classic Matuka wing.
