I really hope melanie is still alive. There's still a chance - especially during the breakoff then the 2 trains split when Layton and the team attempted to go back for mel that Mr. Wilford put big al in reverse to get her first. He's smart enough to do that to gain leverage on them and because he needs an engineer. Really hope thats the case BUT WHO KNOWS!
