    I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that lightsaber dates back to the High Republic era. The design alone kind of leads me to that conclusion.

    I have everything to say of SC episode 5 so far!
    1. He could have challenged her captaincy at any point before that and dumped the kids if he was a bad guy. That moment required him to take control because they were all about to die/be caught. I had the thought: What if he’s been obsessed with destroying the bankers/syndicates, and that was the only way for him to assure everyone’s safety in that moment? He was happy to let the kids tag along before that, despite them making everything more difficult. His array of shady aliases would make sense if he was relentlessly searching the underworld for the secret Muun financial network.
    2. The conflict on his face, even as he's betraying them, was incredible. Part of me wonders if he was trying to take control just to keep the kids in line since they were utter chaos all the way through, and it would be easier for Jod to be in charge. Not that he doesn't have nefarious plans, but he wasn't about to abandon the kids either.
    The lightsaber gag was probably the funniest thing I've seen in Star Wars in a while. Poor Wim. He tried!
    I'm sure it's not him, but the Captain's voice sounded a lot like Geoffrey Rush as Hector Barbossa, which made me laugh. (And yeah, it all goes back to Robert Newton as Long John Silver)
    Great cliffhanger. I guess we'll see if Jod can use a lightsaber or not. I almost expected the blade to turn red, but I don't think he's Sith. Especially after the speech on detachment. That screams Jedi training.
    3. Jod may have backstabbed the kids, but I don’t think he wanted to kill Fern. He still has somewhat a heart of gold, though darker than Han Solo and possibly on par with Doctor Aphra.
    4. The Old Pirate Captain is long dead, but At Attin's droids are still running on his orders to produce old republic credits via the population.
    5. Many of us knew he was going to betray the kids, but I was expecting it next episode. He’s almost definitely force sensitive and now has a High Republic-looking saber. No doubt he’ll end up redeeming himself, but I’m enjoying his deceitfulness.
    At Attin confirmed as the last “Old Republic” mint. It’s still not exactly clear when they were sealed off from the galaxy, but I imagine the parents will find out soon. I have a feeling the supervisor will be revealed to be the old captain, which is why his face was covered in the hologram.
    6. Jude Law is magnetic. And yet, he gives the kid actors room to do their thing. This level of performance is really impressive across all of the cast. Great writing, too. Everything onscreen feels interesting.
    I love the world-building, too. Getting to see aliens on a spa planet shouldn't be this great, but I was fully engaged by it. Even the minor characters fill their roles well. What a quest adventure!
    7. Wim activating the lightsaber into the ground was the biggest laugh I’ve gotten out of the show so far. Also, Jod sucks for now.
    Oh 1 more thing: why did you put of Lego Star Wars SKELETON CREW, and get the blue elephant alien?
    And I can see myself at the end of your video, I was so happy!

      @AbitofEverything4U  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      That's some excellent commentary you shared on Jod and whether he was betraying the kids or not. Loved it. And the lego was just to show that they actually revealed alot about the show before the episode even came out. Funny how the legos are so often spoilers for a show.

    First off I just gotta say that this was absolutely my favourite episode of the season so far and it just keeps getting better and better with such a fun mystery unlike the Acolyte at any rate. Which speaking of I do hope we don't end the season off on some big cliffhanger with unresolved plot points in case Disney decides to axe it like Acolyte. I do love that this show is reminding people you don't have to be a Jedi or a Sith to be able to use the Force because of course they recruit Force users. I do think perhaps Jod is very much a former Jedi OR Sith given certain lines he drops, like how you referenced the Qui-Gonn line.

      Well said...I think this series is doing what the Acolyte failed to do...it's doing a great job of finishing strong. Hope the last few episodes stick the landing!

    I like how the series references everything Star Wars, from the sequels with the kids and Jod’s escape in episode 3 mirroring Poe and Finn’s escape in The Force Awakens and the Supervisor’s tower ruins in episode 4 mirroring the Death Star II ruins in The Rise of Skywalker, to all of the references to the Star Wars Holiday Special, it really makes it feel like it is part of this franchise. I’m starting to think that Tak Rennod is the Supervisor, since they hid his identity on the hologram this episode, which would only make since if we end up seeing him again later. Also, it’s kind of funny how you forgot to mention the Hutt eating that tiny masseuse who begged for his life.

    So the new details we learned in this episode still support my theory from last week, that apparently several other people have also theorized, about the captain claiming At Attin for himself, hiding it, and becoming the Supervisor. SM-33 was offline the whole time the ship was buried, so he wouldn't know that the captain was still alive. It's really interesting to learn that At Attin was the Old Republic mint, which totally makes sense now. The mint just continued printing the same currency as At Attin currency, so to the residents, it's basically like dollar bills. But yeah, the fact that the captain's face was obscured in that recording (and Wim even pointed it out) pretty much guarantees that the captain's identity will be a big reveal later. And the fact that we still haven't seen the mysterious Supervisor... yeah, it all basically points there.
    Wim with the lightsaber, gotta be my favorite moment of the series!
    It's hard to believe now that my actual words I said just before clicking on the first episode last month were, "Well, might as well check this out and see if it's any good."

    • @AbitofEverything4U
      @AbitofEverything4U  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Such a fun show...I'm loving it! I had the same doubt that you did when I first started watching, but I'm so happy with the show so far. And I think your theories on the captain make sense. I hadn't considered that SM-33 might not realize that the captain hadn't been killed. Can't wait to meet the mysterious supervisor!

    I never thought about the Banking Clan having a part in the disappearance of At Attin. That's an interesting connection because of how economically focused At Attin's society is.
    That Hutt could be just about anyone. If Rotta hadn't been rumored to be buff or played by a big name actor, I would have thought that Hutt was our first sighting of him since Clone Wars. Now that you mention the tattoo though, there may be some relation to the Twins from Book of Boba Fett, but it would be another offshoot of the family. I've heard that the Hutt Cartel was pretty much almost completely wiped out by Vader not long before Return of the Jedi, so after Jabba the Hutt's death, then it's still trying to regain momentum, restructuring, whatever. The three Hutts weave seen in live action all have makings on their chins though, so that could be of some significance. The chances of us following up on this though feel slim, this was more just another excellent bit of comedy that was perfectly used. That poor little dude getting eaten, but then learning this isn't even the first time is hysterical; he needs a raise or a promotion or something to make up for that.
    Yeah, I never watch stuff with close captioning, but I just rewatched the episode with my dad (he was watching it for the first time) who always has captions turned on, and when I say the [flesh squelches] caption, I was like, "Oh that's horrible!"
    What I find so interesting about having the ability to make you own money is that it would only decrease the value of it. A pirate would hopefully know that. I have to imagine that in the Old Republic, a certain type of metal or combination of metals were being used that's particularly rare out in the Galaxy. Gold is gold, silver is silver, it doesn't really make a difference, so you just melt down the old currencies and reforge them in the new with each shift in power, but scarcity breeds value when desired so like, short of stuff like when we find shipwrecks filled with old coins that are no longer in production and have historical value, making more would only make them less valuable unless the material the Old Republic credits are so rare to the Galaxy that they always fetch a high price. I'm curious just what Rennod was planning with the Mint since it would be counterintuitive.

    • @AbitofEverything4U
      @AbitofEverything4U  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Fantastic feedback! Yeah, the Banking Clan reference really got me thinking. You raise a great point about not printing up too much currency or it diminishes the value. I wonder if that's connected to the fact that the kids are taught so much about how currency and economics work?

    (1)The Captain had to survive the crash, because 33 accepted Fern‘s story about killing the Captain.(Hence, she became the new Captain). If he died in the crash, 33 wouldn‘t have accepted Fern. (2) I think there are mines at At-Attin, and everyone who doesn‘t behave, gets to work there. Maybe Wim‘s mom is still alive, discovered something she shouldn‘t have, and is working in the mines.

      Definitely agree...but it seems odd they intended that meaning since it says "flesh squelches". What if the “treasure” on At Attin has nothing to do with the credits and the Mint? Maybe the planet has some “Fountain of Youth” eternal life going on, or even cloning? Just something I’ve been thinking about since the start of the show.

    Did he win the Captaincy? Let’s face it - the captain is who ever SM33 thinks the Capitan is. And he decided that Fern was Capitan because she killed the old captain. Only she didn’t, so she was Capitan under false pretenses, thus not really the captain. And if she wasn’t truly the captain then the yield ment nothing. Still it does sound like very pirate like to respect the deceit enough, that winning something by deceit is just as legitimate (pirate version of legitimate anyway)
