I love these old school fish room tours. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and into the feels when I see how happy these old old school guys still are with their fish and breeding.
i have a inkfin calvus breeding trio that i bought off jerry.... awesome quality fish . been to his fishroom. it was quite an experience ...great fish, great guy
Being married so long deserves a big congratulations! That speaks volumes of your resolve. Godspeed! We have plenty of wonderful lakes here in the U.S., what is wrong with Driftwood from our lakes for aquarium setups?
I switched out one substrate for another and it took a long time, almost 5 hours of cleaning filters of the dust from the new substrate etc. But it is worth it because now my plants will be able to grow more than just the plain glo gravel I had. It was a big job beginning to end, but worth it.
Thats a super cool system! You wouldnt need to have all of the fitting out of clear PVC, just the top tube where the gas would build! Hopefully my fish tanks dont get wiped out from this hurricane since I live in the florida panhandle. Wish me luck!
Aqua lift pumps in the bridge of those overflows will prevent them from breaking. You have it suck air/water slowly out of the overflow and pump it into the tank at about 3gph. It won't fail.
Very cool seeing his fish room. Would love to get more connected to the GCAS but it’s tough with those Sunday night meetings. Wish they’d do thursdays. Lol
The way I understood it...I think he just had them dripping into the tanks. Then as it got full it would drain out the pvc overflow setup they were talking about. He would do 2 tanks at a time, one on each side of the room.
I dechlorinate by letting my water sit in a container with no lid. Maybe a few drops a min is enough to dechlorinate naturally. I'm thinking he has low levels of chlorine either way.
His water changes are very slow. No chloramines. At this slow rate the chlorine is so minimal it is neutralized by the organics in the water and have no effect on the inhabitants except to encourage growth and breeding because of the clean water.
Hey we love your channel and the crazy stuff you do all the way from Northern Ireland. We've got a breeding set up and have recently started the youtube vlogging... would love any advice you might have for our passion..must say Jerry has an insane set up
What about the chlorine? Unless he's on a well? The airline water change system is really cool but I don't know what to do about the chlorine in my water? Just dose the tank every day????
Chloramines don't dissipate but it's still too small of an amount. Chloramines are ammonia and chlorine together. Your bacteria will break the ammonia down and then the chlorine will dissipate. It's still not a problem. If you are nervous you can always dose your tank every now and them depending on your water input after it builds a bit but I wouldn't worry about it
How do u get clear water? My tanks get green water every 3-4 days wont go away even with water changes, normal soft-hard water i got plants, light is basically green spectrum so it shouldnt even be relevant, 3 guppies in a 35 g, feeding once every 3 days, i just dont understand ......... got a ruby nerite and bcshrimp too
What is L411 relating to? I guess it's like what type of species it is, but is it I liar to like a scientific name or is it something to do with its breeding line? And if it's is a species type, why the number/letter combo instead of a scientific name? Thanks to any responses.
But where is his water coming from..., straight from the tap???? What about temp and water additives..., that would be totally impossible here in Western Australia due to the Chlorine and Fluoride that is placed in our drinking water, but even without that.., how do you regulate the water temp?
If you put rocks at the edge of the pond the tip or wobble the raccoons don’t like it and they’ll stay out, the only mess with the water if they have really stable footing. Js. Lol
One piece of advice... Water changes! Seriously? Add substrate would be a good start, snails are not bad they are just a sign of unbalanced water parameters. Add some chemical filtration that will keep your nitrates down plants will keep your phosphates down as well and will keep your water changes to half at least. That is a waist of water. Not aquariums those are fountains. :) Not pretending to be rude just sharing my opinion. Cheers
Which is a bigger waste, chemical filtration that needs to be replaced or clean water and less maintenance that encourages breeding and healthy live stock? Whatever works best for the individual.
@@stevejulio7164 hi there, in my case when I talk about chemical filtration I'm talking about ceramic pieces, bioballs, what ever media that the colony of nitrobacter can establish. My filter is full of this media and is worth a lifetime. Additionally a mechanical filtration like the one he has with a filter media with an airpump or a small in tank pump with perlon filtration which needs to be rinsed once a week as they will get quite dirty. The big filter and plants will keep the nitrates in normal levels and the small filter will take care of stuff in the water that is floating around. There my two cents of a lifetime in this hobby. I don't do water changes at all. Actually I use to do 20% water changes and had much more problems of unbalanced levels than now. ;)
It's so amazing to see these old school people and their setups. They have so much knowledge to share.
I love these old school fish room tours. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and into the feels when I see how happy these old old school guys still are with their fish and breeding.
he has a AWESOME set up & I NOW wish I had a basement.
Gerry!! What a great guy. God Bless Him.
I said it before. Keep going on those tours. You pick up strategies and techniques galore.
Just stumbled onto your channel and these interviews are so fun to watch. I love learning more. Thanks for these!
This dudes a trip! Enjoyed! Cool set up Jerry!
Cool that water changing system. ..and a lot of fishes also. ..very nice and friendly fish keeper. ..thanks a lot of
Love your Tours Rob. This ol' fella needs his own TV show. He sounds like Rain Man when he says "yeah". Funny
i have a inkfin calvus breeding trio that i bought off jerry.... awesome quality fish . been to his fishroom. it was quite an experience ...great fish, great guy
Such a nice and down to earth guy
I love this guy. Awesome.
Jerry passes the test. When asked how many years he's been married there was no hesitation in his reply. Should be very endearing to his wife.
Being married so long deserves a big congratulations! That speaks volumes of your resolve. Godspeed! We have plenty of wonderful lakes here in the U.S., what is wrong with Driftwood from our lakes for aquarium setups?

those are the best water quality tanks I have ever seen. he is a master
Hands down best videos on TH-cam. 👍🏻
Thank you Rob!!! great video! Jerry's a hoot! :)
Mate, I'd fill that room with racks and spend the rest of my life in heaven! Thanks Rob.
Awesome video!
Rob I really enjoy going along on your fish room tours- thanks for the effort 👍
Thanks Rack :) good to hear from you brother!
Thanks for the tour, this guy is quite the character!
Beautiful fishes
I don’t know what I’m looking at with all those pipes and tubes, but I’m still impressed!
Cool video. Really enjoyed hearing his perspective.
Love the tours, especially the guys that have been in the hobby for decades. He was a talker. 😎👍
Just awesome!
I wanna be him when I grow up!!
Its cool how he manages to keep shrimp in the tanks with the cats or any of those fish. Only shrimp safe fish I've come across are Cory
I love when you do these videos!
haha cool guy! Funny he use water hose for air and air line for water hehe
this is awesome ....really cool dude too !
Love this room.
Fish/ shrimp room tour love it ! Keep them coming
I'll do my best to keep at it! Need to do some more traveling
Pretty cool stuff. thanks.
Wow, you living my dream haha
Omg.. I love your tanks
Yeeeaaaah.... Yeeeeeaaaaahh...... love this guy
I would love to see the water change device getting setup and started
Thats a super cool system! You wouldnt need to have all of the fitting out of clear PVC, just the top tube where the gas would build!
Hopefully my fish tanks dont get wiped out from this hurricane since I live in the florida panhandle. Wish me luck!
Hope you're okay
paksaoify Thanks, and I am fine, as are my aquariums.
Aqua lift pumps in the bridge of those overflows will prevent them from breaking. You have it suck air/water slowly out of the overflow and pump it into the tank at about 3gph. It won't fail.
nice Fishroom
These are the fish rooms I like....aquarium coop used to be my favorite but he got to big and decided to get rid of his tanks and make a studio
Lol as a fish keeper with a lack of space, I’m constantly like “what?!? Look at the space between the tanks?!? And above n below?? Staaaaaack” haha
Very cool seeing his fish room. Would love to get more connected to the GCAS but it’s tough with those Sunday night meetings. Wish they’d do thursdays. Lol
Haha this guy intro was amazing
Love it :D Thanks for watching!
Is he down around Cincinnati?
Can u explain the water change in more detail like in a diy instructional way? Thanks for any help.
The way I understood it...I think he just had them dripping into the tanks. Then as it got full it would drain out the pvc overflow setup they were talking about. He would do 2 tanks at a time, one on each side of the room.
what a hero
Very interesting about the gas exchange causing the loss of siphon. I’ve had it happen in some of my overflows and never knew why. #themoreyouknow
I love this guy hahaha
Everybody show some love, thumbs up for more. Cheers
How does he dechlorinate the water while it is adding continuously to the tank? Isn't there issues with such large water changes?
He may be on a well and not city water.
He states his wife pays a "water bill" I dont know of anyone paying a bill for a well.
I dechlorinate by letting my water sit in a container with no lid. Maybe a few drops a min is enough to dechlorinate naturally. I'm thinking he has low levels of chlorine either way.
I see, sounds a little risky but if it works it makes things much easier.
His water changes are very slow. No chloramines. At this slow rate the chlorine is so minimal it is neutralized by the organics in the water and have no effect on the inhabitants except to encourage growth and breeding because of the clean water.
Great guy awesome
Another great tour!! Dont happen to have any special codes or sales going on now do you?? Looking into a shrimp starter set!
We will soon but it'll be all presales with our new order coming in.
Are any of the juvis or guppies for sale?
I like that he's using Kiln Furniture for his aquariums.
Love the video Rob. What L number are those honeycomb plecos?
Hey we love your channel and the crazy stuff you do all the way from Northern Ireland. We've got a breeding set up and have recently started the youtube vlogging... would love any advice you might have for our passion..must say Jerry has an insane set up
If that loses its prime does it over flow the tank?
Can someone please tell me which huge anubias species these are ??
Overflows are done similar, using a Toms aqualifter to keep siphon from ever breaking... credit goes to joey
what are thoe snails you have
Would like to buy some of his assassin snails...how can I get in touch with him?
10:10 water changes
What about the chlorine? Unless he's on a well? The airline water change system is really cool but I don't know what to do about the chlorine in my water? Just dose the tank every day????
At that slower rate it will dissipate faster than it could ever cause any harm
You could also get a carbon filter and put it in between. Will take out chlorine
I've heard some municipalities are now using chloromines now too which dont dissipate out of the water.
Chloramines don't dissipate but it's still too small of an amount. Chloramines are ammonia and chlorine together. Your bacteria will break the ammonia down and then the chlorine will dissipate. It's still not a problem. If you are nervous you can always dose your tank every now and them depending on your water input after it builds a bit but I wouldn't worry about it
You need to see Ocean Aquarium in SF water changes are not always needed if you set your tank up with a proper ecosystem.
How do u get clear water? My tanks get green water every 3-4 days wont go away even with water changes, normal soft-hard water i got plants, light is basically green spectrum so it shouldnt even be relevant, 3 guppies in a 35 g, feeding once every 3 days, i just dont understand ......... got a ruby nerite and bcshrimp too
So how can we get a hold of Jerry?
What is L411 relating to? I guess it's like what type of species it is, but is it I liar to like a scientific name or is it something to do with its breeding line? And if it's is a species type, why the number/letter combo instead of a scientific name? Thanks to any responses.
Sorry, I meant to say "but is it similar to like a scientific name"

Nice fish room💦
But where is his water coming from..., straight from the tap???? What about temp and water additives..., that would be totally impossible here in Western Australia due to the Chlorine and Fluoride that is placed in our drinking water, but even without that.., how do you regulate the water temp?
Temperature is not affected because of the slow rate of the water change.
Led?
10$ for that big bag of shrimp. Does Jerry ship shrimp by mail??
Great tour, only if you can steady your camera, I'm a little dizzy after watching :)
If you put rocks at the edge of the pond the tip or wobble the raccoons don’t like it and they’ll stay out, the only mess with the water if they have really stable footing. Js. Lol
nice ...
Those are some old Anubias!..must take many years to get them like that.
Raccoons are the devils spawn. Right there with Herons!
Anyone have Jerry's info?
I wish I had about a 1/2 dozen of those assassin snails.
My last pleco was 14 inchs long, had to give him to a guy with a bigger tank.
Did I hear that correctly, honeycomb ancistrus sell for more than zebra plecos?!
I wish I could get that many shrimp for 10 bucks!!!

Wow Nice to see your house.....

All passion belongs to money
