      Does it come with a paddle cover?

  • @wesrxnumber

    I have spent the past four months watching reviews of paddles from all major manufacturers of the well know paddles. I was going to buy a blemished Engage paddle for my Father's day gift this year. My wife said NO. I then saw your video was taken with the development of KiwiLabs utilizing all the latest technology. I watched all your videos. You talked about playing pickleball with a non KiwiLabs paddle explaining why you continue to use it. I did not want to spend $200 for a paddle. The paddle was listed on USAPA as approved as of 4/23/23. Your paddle met all my requirements as far as tech. The price is more than fair and I like the idea of owning something unique. My paddle arrived yesterday well packaged in perfect condition. My paddle weight was not selected but weighs EXACTLY the same as my current paddle at 7.9 ounces. My wife suggested I try the paddle before my game on Sunday. I like to practice just hitting the balls around the court. I use a drop serve as a beginner. I immediately netted balls until I raised my arm higher for the drop. The serve was going in hard and deep in the court. It was very repeatable. I practiced hitting my forehand down the line. I could not believe the results as I was nailing the shot deep and hard. I tried dinking the ball cross court and across the net. I have more control now and just need to practice to fine tune this aspect. WOW what a great paddle. I am enjoying having control from the KiwiLabs paddle. Thank you for getting into pickleball paddle manufacturing. You are my company moving forward into pickleball. I wish you a long successful career in the endeavor.

    I agree with some of the comments about the web site, I didn't see paddle grip circumference and paddle weight in the list of specs.

      Yes! To be honest we had NO idea how many people would be visiting the page. In fact, we had a lot of pages that were not even published yet that were accidentally still linked. Long story short, WE AGREE and we did spend some time this weekend cleaning things up!

    Congratulations on your new endeavor! Paddles look great with all the current features. The 20mm might counterbalance the added pop from thermoforming.
    What is the weight and grip circumference?

    • @gao57009
      @gao57009 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Website says 4.25" grip circumference and weight range of 7.8-8.4 oz. Grip length of 5,5"

      The Slice may be filling the gap between power and control from a thermoformed paddle. Everyone seems to agree on the power potential from a thermoformed paddle, but control seems a little harder to achieve. Maybe the 20 mm core will allow the control to come easier while still keeping the power? Honeycomb cell size also plays a role. What is the cell size in the Slice? 8 mm?, 10 mm?

  • @jeffislearning
    @jeffislearning ปีที่แล้ว

    happy for you on starting this journey. isnt a foam core already considered not approved by usap? eg: diadem vice, ronbus ev1.16. and maybe consider a demo/rental program? many people would like to try before committing to a paddle.

    • @kiwilabspickleball
      @kiwilabspickleball  ปีที่แล้ว

      Love the idea of a demo program! I will see what it might take to get that going. As for the core. it just has foam injected walls. Not a fully foam core like the vice. It still uses a standard honeycomb core.

    Thanks for the intro to SLICE. What is your warranty on your paddles? Selkirk is at the top of the list as you know. I'll be signing up for email updates. 0.0.2.

    • @kiwilabspickleball
      @kiwilabspickleball  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! We will have a 4 month warranty, that covers most potential issues. However we will also have a no questions asked 7 day window to return your paddle as well.

  • @gao57009
    @gao57009 ปีที่แล้ว

    So from what I can understand the Slice paddle is a unibody, thermoformed, foam on the perimeter paddle, 20 mm core paddle. right?

    • @kiwilabspickleball
      @kiwilabspickleball  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! That's exactly correct.

    • @gao57009
      @gao57009 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kiwilabspickleball Awesome. I think you will have a lot of interest in the paddle, especially at your price point. Yours is different from some of the other newer thermoformed paddles because of your 20 mm core. This should appeal to those who want more control.

    Big question-- Your website says a frosted grit is applied OVER the raw carbon fiber. Why would you want to cover the raw carbon fiber with a grit layer?

    • @kiwilabspickleball
      @kiwilabspickleball  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just replied to your message. Appreciate your concern. The final product will likely not include any additional grit. We are still testing a few prototypes to make sure we send out the best product. Frosted Grit is just one of the things we were testing. But I appreciate the concern. In fact, I am removing it from the website, in case it remains confusing for other folks.

    I'm kind of a paddle nerd so anything "new" that is developed, I'm interested in - I've even tested a few paddles for other companies. (I had one of the 1st Six Zero paddle) since you mention the unibody, I have to ask if you are proactively addressing the desalination issues others are having.
