Excellent views - 3 points next game Aston Villa we could go down there & put on a real show & shut up the entire media north & south 🍀 that would be icing on the cake
We can be happy with a point away and still disappointed with how we got it. Shouldve been a victory last night and we didnt look as intense as we usually do. Hope we'll find our form again come Sunday HH
Positive and negative from last night. Positive being were a point better off , that's it .negative being looking at a team that has a hammering fresh in the memory and a don't lose at all costs mentally . The cost being attacking, front foot football. That was dire from celtic last night and the fact we mustered 1 pathetic shot at goal the whole night summed it up. If ever there was an average, injury ravaged team , that was completely knackered after an hr was there for the taking that was it. Rodgers game management was poor . He could've and should've changed it at half time. Hatate was useless, and kyogo was just chasing shadows again. Idah should always start away in Europe. He gives us the hold up play when our wingers were clearly getting no joy at all . Disappointing for our fans that made the long, heavy financial trek out there to see a team that lets be honest looked scared stiff to try anything meaningful in attack. Maybe also the game at the weekend is in mind but if the board had any ambition whatsoever we'd have a much better squad to compete on all these fronts . But thats a tired old argument fpr yet another day
I think some of the panel may have missed the jokes with that Pierre-Gabriel comment: Don't Give Up, Back To Front and Sledgehammer are songs by /or related to Peter Gabriel - and Genesis was his former band.
I genuinely did not pick that up at the time which is shameful as I am very much of that era! I will hang my head in shame….disgrace to my 80s roots 😂😂😂
If I had been listening live today, I would have been right on that🤣 ACSOM never picked up on my reference to the similarity between Luke McCowan and Richard Jobson from The Skids, just after we signed him! Here was me thinking that they were all music buffs too🤣
6/6 pts incoming in the new year. The Greg Taylor thing is ridiculous. 7 days ago everyone was extolling his virtues and now the opposite. Same most weeks for the last 2 years. He's honest. He's a decent jobber. Has decent even great games. And then costs us in big games. Need a left footed AJ.
The Taylor situation will come to a head one way or another in January. The contract impasse will force our hand, then it’s a case of cashing in on him. With Bernabei also likely to leave for a decent fee, it’ll be interesting to see how Brendan plays this. I love KT but we need the equivalent of AJ on the left side in terms of consistency. The fitness concerns around KT won’t seem to go away.
We shouldn’t count or chickens on a win against Young Boys and assume that they are the worst team in the CL. You have to look at who they’ve played. They knocked out Galatasaray to qualify then have played Villa, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Shakhtar and Atalanta.
I watched them against Barca, and they were decent, this idea that it’s an easy 3 points is crazy. We’ve now put real and unnecessary pressure on ourselves for the YB match.
The comment about Dinamo players won’t get into a hearts and Aberdeen side , Zagreb have 8 pts in the champions league.Hearts and Aberdeen can’t compete in the Europa conference league . Sorry confused by that one
Since the battering we gave Aberdeen at Hampden, our form over the last 7 matches (barring the second half against Hearts and the first half against Ross county), has very much reflected just how inconsistent we were for 3/4 of last season. Lowering the tempo near the end of the games when winning is perfectly acceptable, but it is not during the opening 45. We seem to have momentarily lost the directness, intensity, aggression and pace to our play. Our accustomed dynamic, quick and fast build-up structure which gave us a great platform to recycle quick ball possession and continue maintaining attack after attack, has significantly tapered off. Right across the 4 phases (possession, out of possession, transition to attack and transition to defence), we are falling back in to the dreaded laboured, low tempo, middle-third side-to-side dominance, with limited penetration or cutting edge, especailly down the flanks. The usually excellent advanced positioning of both Maeda and Kuhn between the lines and pinning back opposition defenders, just isn't there at the moment. As a result, Kyogo has next to nothing to feed off. The rotations clearly aren't working, especially at LB and RCM, as a result our combination play is suffering. If he insists on playing such an expansive system that thrives on wide play, then a high level of co-ordination is required between the full-backs and the wingers. Playing Taylor one week then Valle the next and vice versa, is abosolutely not the way to go about it. But again, the fact the manager actually rates Taylor over Valle and Engels over Bernardo, tells you everything you need to know.
Guys, thought we were awful last night. That Zagreb team , especially in 1st half, looked very second-rate, but we could not lay a glove on them. Engels still looks so bloody miserable to be out there. Something is seriously wrong there. And does Kuhn now think he's done enough to guarantee a big move?
Engels is miserable in general, Khun is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is and Kyogo couldn’t score a goal to save his life.. unless it’s literally on a plate for him.
We were up against a team that done there best to stop us playing and we were on an awful pitch for it, they done what most Scottish teams do but they were just more talented and better at it.
Folk should go and watch the ACSOM episodes from the 2-3 days after the Dortmund game. Celtic's approach last night was EXACTLY the sort of "Pragmatic approach" that many ACSOM contributors were crying out for. Ok maybe we were a bit too pragmatic last night but hey ho, that's life. We cannot achieve perfection and too many fans fail to realise this - Play attacking, exciting football BUT don't go all kamikaze and get ripped apart - Keep possession & stop giving the ball away cheaply BUT stop with the slow build up & sideways passing - Have a more pragmatic approach BUT no boring 0-0 draws please That is basically what we are all looking for when Celtic go away from home in Europe and it is nigh on impossible to deliver it. So I'll take an overly cautious 0-0 as opposed to a "far too open" 7-1 thrashing. Yes I'd love us to find the sweet spot and deliver the perfect away performance but it is easier said than done. Although to listen to some of our fans, you'd think it was easy.
The big difference being, this wasn't a Dortmund, Atalanta or anything even remotely similar - we were playing (historically speaking) one of the worst teams in UCL history last night. A team that has consistently finished bottom in their groups. A team that was playing in the bloody Conference League last season FFS...with practrically the same squad! A team that is curently in crisis - 6 matches without a win, 1 goal scored in 6 matches, 5 first team starters missing last night, and playing in from of a half-empty stadium. ...And you honestly think we shouldn't be beating that mince?? The Huns would've have even turned them over no bother, that's how bad a performance it was. How come they can consistently win away from home in Europe, operating at a mere fraction of our budget?? but yet we can't, even when the new format presents us with one of the easist away fixtures we could ever hope for in the tournament.
@@Mantis_Toboggan_MD. We were playing, statistically speaking, the second lowest ranked team in the tournament, behind Slovan. Even Sparta and Red Star have a better standing than them FFS! You posted in the lead up to the game, that we could field our U15’s and still beat them, according to their own fans! 😂 That’s how bad a nick they are in as a club! Any Celtic fan excusing that shambolic performance last night, is precisely why we don’t get taking seriously by the board every year. The collective acceptance of tinpot mediocrity year after bloody year on the road in Europe. Meanwhile, a skint club that is only 12 years old, can consistently win away reach a European final by beating bigger and better opponents along the way. Any reason why that is the case??
Zagreb sit 5 places above us in the seeding system and young boys sit in the place above us! So historically (past 5 years) they must have been doing better than us.
It's wild. I know Zagreb had some injuries and were understrength but folk are talking like we've just drawn 0-0 with a team from the Faroe Islands or something
