It may be a parody, but Victoria Wood did this with a lot of love for the original film. The original 'Brief Encounter' film location, a station tea room at Carnforth in Lancashire, is now a popular visitor attraction and museum dedicated to recreating the film location set. The film has been voted one of the best British films ever made and was written by Noel Coward. It was apparently filmed at this location to be away from the German bombing in Southern England.

It's a cloudy Saturday afternoon, and I'm watching Brief Encounter on TV. Which reminded me of Victoria's parody, so I had to track it down and watch it again. Victoria Wood is so missed. comedy is not the same without her.

This is perfection. Such a wonderful parody of Brief Encounter. The mince pie in the eye is perfection. Such terribly sad news today. Victoria Wood taken so early. Remarkable career of extraordinarily talented woman. A real visionary.

Did you ever see the Parody of "Carol" with Kate McKinnon of the US Comedy Show Saturday Night Live. She did it at The Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the audience loved it. Cate Blanchett (Carol) was crying with laughter and Rooney Mara (Therese) and Todd Haynes (The Director) Loved it. I loved Brief Encounter. Also if you saw the "Original" it reminds me of Carol. The Couple are talking and The Lady's "Friend" interrupts them, and in Carol Therese and Carol are talking and Therese's Friend Jack interrupts them.
