As someone who's been a motor sports fan all my life. The one thing I've learned about Motorsports fans are it doesn't matter who was right or wrong it's who is the fan favorite. If my favorite driver dive bombs your favorite driver well my favorite driver is just going for a gap and your driver closed it too late. If your favorite driver dive bombs my favorite driver well your favorite driver is just a dirty racer and it was no way he was ever going to be able to make that pass clean. Basically there's two sides to every story and a race fan will typically pick not who's right or who's wrong but who they like best.
You're not a fan of motorsport if that's your attitude. That means you're a fan of certain racers. If you like motorsport, you see it for what it is. Some cases can be seen as a divebomb/the opposite for people, but some cases are clear and shut. No discussion needed, so if you ALWAYS back "your guy", you're a fan of THAT person, not racing.
@@didrikhalsoy5994 sadly, most of the newer F1 fans are just like that. And I blame that on DTS introducing the sport to them like it's some sort of drama with a hero and a villain rather than as a motorsports.
@@askeladden450 If anything, newer fans tend to be less assertive while veteran fans are generally more opinionated with which teams and drivers they support/dislike. It makes no sense to blame DTS for something that's always been present in F1.
@@riverdelta7052 Traditionally it used to that people were only this crazy about drivers from their own countries, which is understandable since it happens in every sport. Nowadays its completely different. The thing with motorsports is that its different from other sports where a person is expected to support one team. When fans of such sports start watching motorsports, they immediately start looking for which drivers they should support. Instead of doing it naturally by watching races and coming to like a driver over a period of time based on observation, many new fans have DTS as their first exposure to the sport. And because DTS tends to exaggerate things and tends to give out of context information in such a dramatized way, people come out of watching DTS already having a very strong sense of loyalty to a certain driver, just as someone watching a movie does. This liking is much more stronger than a person who was introduced to the sport naturally and may even be misinformed. I have been around the sport a long time and honestly I have never seen a fandom as toxic and obnoxious as the Lewis and Max fandom in any sport, let alone F1, especially from NON-British and NON-Dutch people.
