What a stunning estate with the Hall itself so beautifully furnished! I can remember riding my tricycle inside our home in a much more cluttered area, until objections arose! 🤣🤣It's amazing the family still lives there. It's kept up like a museum, but I guess they have staff to make sure it stays that way. We loved seeing it, the tour and the lovely gardens outside. Gorgeous beach! Thanks so much for bringing us along.
I enjoyed reading Lady Anne's book as it was all so domestic and normal to her, then I visited Holkham Hall and saw the rather impressive surroundings and I thought 'what a life!' Although the downside I read later was that the estate wasn't exactly modern, when the distant cousin inherited the estate (in the 1970s!) he was shocked to find out that there was no central heating (UK gets cold!) and rooms were kept warm by lighting fires in the fireplaces. It's a lot more modern now! We don't see the private wing where the family live, I always wonder with all this grand furniture around them, do they furnish their private area in much simpler manner, IKEA?!😀
Wonderful tour of Holkham Hall. Very beautiful historic building. Great views inside and outside. Amazing architecture and vintage decor. Amazing that some of the rooms are still used as guest bedrooms. Thanks for sharing. Great information and narration.
The Hall and the Walled Garden you pay to enter, but the grounds seem to be free to roam around. Just outside the North Gate is the village carpark and that's free to park in for 2 hours, so if you're up for a bit of a walk, it can be a cheap day out! Thanks for watching!
Some of these places are so interesting. Holkham is one I have not visited but have passed so many times. Those North Norfolk beaches can be immense but also so wonderful to walk out on as long as you watch the tides.
Until I read Anne Glenconner's book I had never heard of Holkham Hall, she made it sound very homey and normal. It was kind of surprising to see how opulent it was! Seeing how far out the water was at Holkham beach really brought the message to check the tide times, I could see how easily people could put themselves in danger.
Holkham Hall is so beautiful, wonderful architecture and that marble staircase was stunning. Nice at the time for them to have en suite bathrooms too 😃The Green State bedroom was interesting with that pucture that was banished to the attic and I could imagine princesses riding bicycles down the hallway, a good size to do that. Lovely private chapel and the grounds are beautiful with the lake and the beach nearby Enjoyed your tour, you narrate so well and so clear 👍~ Anna
It was an impressive building, I've since read more about the Hall, after the distant cousin inherited he (in 1976) he found that the Hall was still heated by the fireplaces, there was no central heating and only a small percentage of the tenant farmhouses even had electricity! He had a lot of modernising to do, as impressive as the rooms were it was quite uncomfortable to live in them! Thanks for watching.
Hi there we had not heard of this one! We really should explore down south more! This was really nice to see and hear all the history! Beautifully narrated with your lovely accent! Thank you for putting this place on the map for us! Have a lovely week 👍❤️
I enjoy watching the places you go to in your vlogs and it makes me realise I need to go north when I visit the UK. I like to visit a different area, on each visit, the only part of Yorkshire I've been to is Bradford and that was to have lunch with a friend who lived there!
I loved seeing this, we often visit the nearby town of Wells Next The Sea, but have never ventured into the Holkham Estate. It looks like we should one day as it looks stunning.
It is and I liked the fact that the rooms are still used by the family, so the estate isn't a museum piece. It does mean though that's it's only open to visitors 3 days a week. Thanks for watching!
There are some wonderful videos of the horses and guards of the Household Cavalry and the Blues and Royals running and swimming on this beach during their break from London.
The owner of the B&B where we stayed had horses and after I said that we went to the beach, she said in winter they take their horses there and they love it. It must be like a playground for them, so interesting the army uses it too. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing with us, have a nice weekend
Thanks for watching!
amazing . . . well done & thumbs up 👍🙏💥
Thanks very much!
The difference in the tide at the beach is incredible, nice video.
I heard that it can be quite dangerous with people getting caught with the tide coming in. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful place to visit!
It's lovely and well worth seeing. Thanks for watching!

It's nice that these stately homes are still being used and aren't just museums to a bygone era. Thanks for watching!
Amazing place, Enjoyed watching
It's very impressive to see, and thanks for watching!
Looks really nice 👌 have past it a few times but never visited thanks for the tour regards Glyn
