Every bit as great live as the single is. Maybe better actually. This _should_ be the official anthem for gen X-ers. This one is definitely on the list of songs I want playing at my funeral. Perfect song.
Long ago I had an album called "Live Stiffs" that was a compilation album of the Blockheads touring with Nick Lowe's Last Chicken In The Shop, Wreckless Eric and The New Rockets, Elvis Costello and The Attractions and Larry Wallis' Psychedelic Rowdies. Everyone came out for Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll and it was the most amazing version ever. The record got "borrowed" and trashed after a short time but I remember it so well after 40 years.
I saw Ian and the Blockheads on their first U.S. Tour, opening for Lou Reed, in 1978. They were one of the tightest bands I'd ever seen in my life! Lou Who?
an old childhood favorite of mine, it is this song with which i fondly remember my childhood friends. i almost want to relive those moments with them, but no not reailly...
briliant song also briliant is Reasons to be cheerful, which obviously is a Ian Dury song but also a teriffic musical by the Graeae theatre company, the show uses Ian Dury songs
don`t ever assume the person in this vid to be the one and only ian dury - it ain`t. not by `alf it ain`t! this is an ian dury impersonation - from the movie: please do not confuse with the real thing. not a bad impersonation, though ;-)
sensational leslie Blimey you have . . . Mate. I apologize, I don't know how to speak British. Okay, but seriously. I wasn't throwing shade at this song. Ian himself once said this song was meant as a question mark for those three things.
that's not a song, that is a hymn!
Still brilliant 👏

What a shame. Ian Dury passed away so young at 57 March 2000. So much talent and too young to be taken by cancer.
