Right on my friend - I'm so excited that you moved to an area that means so much to you and I absolutely look forward to our next photography adventure together!
What a truly awesome way to start 2022! Your realness speaks to me, David. Thank you for that. Life advice right here. I'm preparing for a shoot tomorrow, new model, new lighting, new location....self doubt creeping in.....but...I'm preparing...just told someone its like being back in college...all of the studying, learning, reading, YT videos.... I love it! I don't do this for living but I completely get why people can be terrified to reach for the sky when they have bills to pay...but I agree with you. Plow through the fear. Persevere! Thank you for this.
Right on and you are most welcome! I'm excited for you as you take new steps at this start of this year! When you get on set, just take a moment to breathe and truly realize how great it is for you to be in the position that you are. You have the means, the opportunity and the ability to create some artwork that will continue to grow. Then set the lights, dial them in and take your TIME shooting. See each shot and just let is flow as it should. Thank you for the kind words and for watching!
On this first day of the year spent reflecting on a successful but stressful year, how to re energize and keep the steam moving! I needed to hear this today, thanks!
You are most welcome my friend and I'm truly so excited for the year ahead for you. You've worked your tush off and built a great business that I see flourishing in 2022! Thanks for watching!
This was the video I didn't know I NEEDED to watch! I am so glad I watched it all the way through! I find so much value in your content, Thank you for this!
You are most welcome and thank you for watching - 2022 is yours to make all that you need it to be. The road will be filled with joys and challenges, but that is the way of things. Best of luck and see you out there!
Right on and I am truly grateful to know that. It's sometimes a deflating thing to see that some folks only watch about 4 minutes of a video and move along. It's not about the ads and money - I want folks to learn and get a chance to be able to use what I've experienced, to their gain. Thanks for the kind words and for watching!
I am a hobbyist photographer. I have been lucky that my adult life found me constantly performing tasks that allowed me to raise my children and also to do what brought value to myself. A sense of satisfaction for jobs completed and to capture a moment in time AKA history. I capture friends performing full throttle in the middle of their dance so that I might share with them what we see as the audience. That moment in time that they can also witness that it makes their eyes grow wide. That makes me smile and gives me the little ego push to continue. I am an basically an unpaid Dance Studio Photographer and I am a dancer as well. I am not complaining, I am having a blast! I am retired and I can do this. I wish I could have attempted this profession a long time ago. It was not in the cards for me. I can fix autos, trucks, your computer, your data network, groom your horse, raise your chickens. Change diapers too. I have done many many things to earn a living. But capturing moments in time to share is just the BEST! Thanks David, Lord Byrd
Right on - this is why I think everyone should enjoy this artform. It's such a thrill (for yourself as the image maker) to not only capture the image, but to share it with those that NEED that moment in time to be preserved. Associating money to it, of course is a certain next step if you so wish to go down that version of the photography road - but doing the work for the joy of it, will always be paramount. When you lose that joy and only do the work for the money or to see business bottom lines grow, then you care more about business than you do photography and art. Not a bad thing, but vital to know your place on that road. Thanks for sharing your amazing thoughts and for watching!
Right on - I hope it makes a difference for anyone that is willing to go on this journey. I've gathered too many scars being in this business and if I can be real and help others to not fumble so much, then I've earned my seat. Thank you for the kind words and for watching!
A very powerful video! I'm always doubting myself and my ability to be a good photographer and this video is what I needed to hear. I'm my own worst enemy and I just need to put on the blinders and do it. Thank you for sharing.
Right on and I completely hear you on this. It's always hard to be vulnerable and that's what is needed to be a full on creative. The goal now is to find those elements that speak to us and help us reaffirm our own understand of ourselves, when our focus wanes. Thanks for watching and get to work!! :)
You make very good points :)... you do have to follow your heart and you will have to take some chances on the way. And these advises works pretty much for any type of jobs out there. Listening to advise, is not wrong though... listen, take what is needed for you, ignore the rest and move on with what you want to do. Work with what you have and build from there. There will be plenty of failures, goes without saying :). Good advise there! ♥
I hear you 100% and thank you for the kind words. I've definitely been in the position to take the advice that makes sense and tune out the negativity. However over time it's just gotten a bit harder. Perhaps a new goal of 2022 :) Thank you for watching!
"Your focus determines your reality" resonates well for me as it is applicable to all fields of human endeavour. Thanks for these quintessential tips. God bless.
Right on - that's one of my favorite quotes from George Lucas and another reason that I admire the human and his work. Keep that thought with you as you move forward in this new year and thank you for the kind words and for watching!
Right on and that's what I'm taking about! Developing the eye and the imagination is never going to be done by buying the latest and greatest gear :) My first camera as a Canon Rebel (the actual first Rebel) and a plastic kit lens. Shot so much with that little camera before it was sadly stolen in break-in and then upgraded to a Canon 50D :)
It was on the radar - we had a whole series started in early 2020 before the pandemic. However this year, I'll probably only do some smaller one-off weekends or something. We have an eight month old and I'm terrified that I'm going to pass Covid to him. :(
Truth. With relocating to Santa Fe, I needed to hear this. We need to get together and shoot!
Right on my friend - I'm so excited that you moved to an area that means so much to you and I absolutely look forward to our next photography adventure together!
Loved your recent shots of the snowy roads. Brings back memories of my years in NH.

Are you planning to do any workshops in the western side of the US this year?
