If you're major isn't biomed, computer science, engineering, nursing, etc. it's good to ask if you can work to get to where you want to be. Get a job and work up that way. If not one of those above majors, it may not be as useful as society teaches us.
Many Americans are paying back debt for a degree that they may not use or wasn't as useful as was first thought.
Limit the amount of loans you take.
If you take out as many loans as the average American, think of how long it'll take to pay that back.
Make sure your degree is something you can get a job in right after college.
