Somebody needs to make a real life version of the flying mini-sub from _Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea_ that actually flies. That would be the greatest of them all.

I'm 47 years old & remember like yesterday running as fast as possible straight home from school to see Speed Racer!!!! This is a very good job... The movie guys should've contacted this man for the use of his car... Oh by the way, The Buttons Are On The Steering Wheel sir... Hate it when folks speak before confirming their comment/opinion....

Yes because I can see how safety and a helmet is going to really help you traveling and 180 miles an hour in a convertible and snake Oiler of the car acrobatic team hits your car off the road. Does anybody else see this being a problem with this equation?
And kids my age remember watching it in Japan on Japanese television - Mach-Go-Go-Go. BTW: The helmet isn't going to save you if that convertible flips upside-down.
When you press the B button, does it add the belts to the wheels and supply 5000 horsepower equally to all 4 wheels? He should have put it up on the jump jacks so we could see the undercarriage
Wait...! Where are super-treads that enable driving on walls? And where are the 4 pneumatic jumping cylinders that enable the car to leap obstacles over 8 feet high? And where the hell is Chim Chim? Is he in the trunk?
The cockpit looks nothing like the actual cartoon Mach 5 I didn't see and buttons on the steering column and the view screen was out from instead of in the dash like in the show...on a softer note I didn't see any jump jacks

You've got to be kidding - this car looks nothing like the Mach 5 in the show. I've seen plenty of other Mach 5's on the internet that looks just like the one in the show. The one in the movie was a travesty also
I grew up watching Speed Racer on VHS in the 90s and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I saw the movie and was not impressed by it. Having seen movies like Bullet, it shaped how a car chase should be in my mind, and how a Speed Racer should be. I would ave loved to see a straight conversion of the animated series to Live Action. It would have been about The Mach 5 as a vehicle and the thrill of racing, rather than what the movie became. Imagine a Speed Racer based off NASCAR in the 60s

several critical mistakes...for example the front blades were for cutting down TREES...since the blades don't come anywhere near meeting the in middle, the center trees would most certainly collide with the front of the MACH FIVE. nice try...the announcer does seem SO sure of himself...a true fan would have spotted stuff like this right away...GOD is in the details
The first thing I noticed was that it appeared to be an automatic, which the TV version definitely was NOT.
I noticed too but not surprising as manual transmissions are rare now - unfortunately.

There is a actual body kit on eBay for 3999 dollars that you can paint.
