The ASM folks are absolutely the best at producing the best, most solid, most user-enabling synths AND making such clear, no ego, non-hype, technically acute, personal videos about Hydrasynth concepts and use. Thank you for being such a nimble, supportive company! I love my Deluxe and appreciate the depth of design thoughtfulness, outstanding production quality and user experience. with gratitude
I think you’ve said that perfectly I totally agree with you… I got my Deluxe a week ago and still only scratching the surface but I love the quality and clarity of this synth! But now to understand that you can bring in audio/another external oscillator… oh wow! This really IS a dream synth. I can’t wait to start making some dark ambient with this beast 🙏🏻👌 How have you got in with your Deluxe recently?
Awesome!!! As more I listen to this synth as more I feel that its capability exceeds in some aspects modular systems easily. For me one of the most amazing and innovative synths since years. Great job!
Nice demo, I wish you had allowed the internal osc to play along with the sample processed example, even as a drone, I’d be curious how that might sound. I’m planning on getting a Hydrasynth soon. These tutorials and demos are a great resource. I hope you keep them coming. They have been answering a lot of my initial questions about what’s possible with the Hydrasynth.
Got mine last week and I fooking love this thing! I have my modular plugged in and it makes everything so much easier for me. I'm a producer using it in my DAW, I make noisy, heavy, Hard Dance type music, Hardstyle, Hardcore, etc. The complete opposite to ambient like pretty much every vid on this machine! It doesn't just do cool pads and stuff, I wanted it for gnarly, gritty stuff and it's exactly what I was hoping for! I know it's a digital synth but that's what I wanted it for. It's like a modular version of Serum but better! I love using the envelopes on my other analogue synths via the CV outs and feeding them back into the inputs. It really is a cool piece of kit, I'm soo happy that I took a gamble and got the desktop version! :)
Hi 👋 I’ve only just got my Hydrasynth last week. Barely scratched the surface but the more I’m looking into these deeper videos then I’m becoming more and more in awe of its possibilities… especially audio in, which I’ve literally only just found out. Wow 😮 I bet you’re making some awesome gritty stuff with it 👌
There is a ton of hype for this synth out here in Portland, Oregon, people are pre-ordering already! Excited to see these videos showing a bit more of the depth and capabilities!
If we ever get user waves, aka samples, holy cow! Having the audio processing wasn't even something I considered for this synth. Can't wait to mess around w this.
@rickhopkinson Let me know how you do! I am working on learning iPad apps. Loopy pro in particular. So, the brand new hydra just sits awaiting attention.
@@Curious_Skeptic Nice one I will do 🙂 I'm posting my first Hydra video this coming Friday at 5:30pm UK time if you're interested... There's three Hydra videos I filmed a couple of nights back but it was before I knew about the audio in thing... but I think my next filming is going to be putting the Behringer 2600 through the Hydra! Sounds interesting with the iPad apps. Not heard of Loopy Pro... any good?
@@rickhopkinson Love to check out your video! And prior videos! Loppy pro is awesome! In fact, had I understood how good it was, I might have skipped on the Tascam Model 16, and just went with an iPad based solution with a simple audio interface! The MPC One almost seems like a pointless investment now. Loopy is like having as many loop channels as you want in a Boss RC505! Better, you can layout the screen however you wish! All controlled by midi if you want too! Mind blowing a $30.00 app can do all this on a $400 iPad! I'm a believe in Apple now! LOL. Mind Blown!
@@Curious_Skeptic oh nice one mate, please check them out and let me know what you think 😃 Really? Blimey it does sound good. My band mate has an MPC One too, I’ll have to let him know about it … I’m surprised the app is so low in price too… 😮😁 Yeah those Boss RC505s are ace aren’t they but loads more channels… Oww. I’m going to check out some of your videos today mate 👍
The keyboard with poly aftertouch is stunning. I used to have an Ensoniq PAT keyboard on the EPS sampler synth. The ASM’s feels much more vibrant tp play. Great video, brings a whole set of new ideas to the (wave)table. Pun intended:-)
Envelop tricks with BPM Sync settings When the BPM Sync parameter is set to On, all of the segments with durations are measured in rhythmic values. This includes the Delay, Attack, Hold, Decay, and Release stages of the envelope...want to see that!
Could you post a video to show more on setting up the Hydrasynth to control eurorack? I can't get the pitch to track well. It jumps 20 cents per octave, despite messing with the cv offset, reference note, etc. in the system settings. If I can get this really dialed in, I'll use the Hydrasynth as my main computer to eurorack midi interface, in addition to being my favorite hardware synth. Love this instrument!
I hope you're making a lot of these, because I'm already waiting in a line. Honestly, this is the most promising synth I've seen in years. Now, if only it had MPE... Ahem! Cheers! ;)
@@brianobush Yes, then Brian and I will go skiing together, where we will literally shout it from the mountain top! Of course, if Brian ever changes his profile pic, this comment will make NO sense whatsoever. ;)
I have had my Desktop a few days. It's my first synth added to the Eurorack setup, aside from an Octatrack and an Analog Rytmm. This thing is a monster, and so approachable. I have yet to even open the manual.
You could assign Mod In 1 and Mod In 2 to accept your stereo signal. Of course, the Ring Mod will add those 2 channels together, so you will get some "artifacts", but a good amount of the original signal should still come through. ymmv
Hi! This machine seems awesome. I'm looking forward to get a Hydrasynth Explorer, but the downside would be no-external audio input :(. Is that something you're planning to introduce on the Explorer? (I mean like the Microfreak vocoder adapter)
I believe it should take external signal in the "mod 1 " input through the ring mod. If you have a connection labeled "mod in" you run any audio signal thru.
Good afternoon, please tell me. Are the tails of the reverbs and delays cut off completely after switching the preset? Or can they be made to continue to work?
@@vegeta897 I understood this long ago from the demo. Interested in the answer of the developers of this tool. I believe that a single-timbral synthesizer should have a reverb tail after switching a preset. Given that the synth is digital completely!
It does cut off the reverb and delay tails when you switch patches. To have them not cut off would require doubling the processing power of the effects chips. Digital is limited by processing power just as analog is limited by circuit design.
As far as we know, we won't be getting our Hydras until late December or early January. But honestly, we have no idea at all when we will get them. It won't be in November, that's for certain. There were some production/supplier issues (which were resolved) that delayed the first-run shipment. So the agonizing, crushing wait continues... :(
You said a year ago you can just get mono audio in at this point. Any updates to that? Also wondering how/if the ring mod effect the audio and if the audio can pass through cleanly to filter and FX? I want to output from a mixer to mod ins at line level, this ok?
For some reason I cannot find a website for ASM despite a good deal of searching, can anyone share the link please? Also where is it available for pre-order? No sign on Thomann or Gear4Music yet. Any answers to these life-dependent questions fully appreciated :)
Thank you for the video, i have preordered. What other synths hardware/software can accept the poly aftertouch and ribbon from Hydra ? Has ASM tried to use as a midi controller
Logic handles Polyaftertouch fine. I believe that Digital performer does as well. Waldorf Blofeld and the Microwave XT receive it. I believe that the Dave Smith products receive it as well.

Great demo... Nice jammin' GD!
but itdoesnt work with the explorer model, right?
because it has only MOD IN 1&2 as OUT´s and not IN´s
On Hydrasynth Deluxe, does MOD IN allow me to parallel process audio via two completely separate Upper and Lower parts?
Many thanks for posting! Had some folks asking about this feature.
pretty rad. vibin on that example 😌🤘
Is it possible to use both mod inputs for audio input and route them in a way where they will be stereo?

could a digital to analog converter be used to pass signals from a digital piano to the hydrasynth? i imagine it could ,,,,

Is it possible to utilize both inputs for stereo processing?

Looks like they disabled this in the Hydrasynth Explorer, no option to use the mods as input there
I think it is worth mentioning that this is not available with the Hydrasynth Explorer, just the other models.
Has anybody tried processing vocals through the hydrasynth? If that is possible, can that signal be passed through mutants and the fx?

From the demos I've seen, the reverb and delay goes silent when switching presets.
