    Flat side of the crush washer goes against the engine case or bolt? I could not tell from the video. Most websites claim the flat side goes against the engine case. Thanks again for the video.

    Are you using a full synthetic oil or semi-synthetic? Any reason for one over the other? Also, looks like you have given the OEM crash bars a try - have you put your bike on its side on those bars? I've got the same and just wondering if they give adequate protection or if I should upgrade to Givi or Heed? Thanks for your great videos! I'm learning a lot!

      I use full synthetic, conventional or syn blend just breaks down quicker, that being said if your one of those people that change their oil every 2500 miles, then it doesn't matter what you use. The stock crash bars are very sturdy, the guy I bought the bike from dropped it on both sides, other than some scratches nothing is bent.

      @@VStromGarage Thanks for that - very helpful. I hear that the synthetic oil also makes the gear change from first to second a bit smoother. Can be a bit of a clunker on the Strom, apparently. Certainly clunks a bit for me except for those rare 'got everything timed perfectly' changes. I'll be going with the synthetic on the next change. Great to hear that the stock bars are up to the task. Yes I want to go off-road, but probs not too serious. I'm a bit too precious about the bike for that. Keep up the great videos!

    I managed to get some handlebars like your prior video. Hopefully it fixes my shoulder problem. Also, get a skid plate!

    • @VStromGarage

      Those handlebars were definitely an improvement over stock.

    Great video. I am about to join the club. Perhaps you can shed some light on a matter that confuses the hell out of me. I see you have an aluminum top box plate on the bike to be serviced. It also looks like the Givi variety. The Givi website mentions a “specific plate” as well as a mounting plate. The mounting plate attaches to my stock plate and the specific plate attaches to that plate and looks like the one in your video. So I need the stock plate plus TWO ADDITIONAL ONES to get a Givi top case to mount?
    This doesn’t make any sense at all to me so I thought I would just see if you can shed some light on it.

      The Givi rack just bolts to the factory rack with 4 bolts and some spacers.

    Hi, I cant screw the oild drainage bolt back in. I tighten it and it reaches like a max.point of tightness (but it doesn’t go all the way in) if I try to tighten it a bit more, it is loose again. I hope you know what I’m talking about

      Sounds like either the bolt or drain threads are stripped, not a fun thing to deal with. Start with running a tap in and clean up the threads, or a die on the drain plug. Hopefully that will work.

    Hi again, I am doing some research for a new bike. Do you need after oil change and/or other maintenance to reset a service reminder or something like that by connecting a special electronic device? I've just watched a BMW oil change and I am appalled that they have to do such a thing.

    • @VStromGarage

      No, not on the v-stroms

    Only a quick observation, should you not prefill the new oil filter? Also its just me but hand tight and a 1/4 turn works for me 👍

    • @VStromGarage
      @VStromGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      prefill works if your oil filter goes on vertical, gets a little messy otherwise.
