I've worked with three AGM's. All ran fine but each one developed a leak at the top cleaner packing nut. That's something I check on every new AGM. Thanks for the great video.
Bill, another great lantern restoration; this time on a lovely Kamplite. Thanks for sharing the paint experience. It’s good to know that sometimes a can can be a dud.
It happens. I've got an upcoming Preway stove restoration video with even more dud cans of paint. That one really surprised me, because I was using expensive Duplicolor, not cheap Tremclad paint. Not only were the original cans I bought similarly short on pigment, but the replacement cans were a different shade of green.
That turned out really nice Bill. I’ve got the RL2 version of that lantern that looks like it was pulled out of a swamp but runs like a champ. I’ve got an old American redi lite model 268 as well. With the original mica globe. It runs but the generator is junk. You almost have to take it off and clean it before you light it each time. I want to get an r55 generator for it. Thanks for another wonderful video.
I tried spray painting but the problem is the paint melts if gas touched it , i am thinking using powder coating Thank you 🙏 I enjoyed seeing the video
That's usually an indication that your paint isn't fully cured. If you let gasoline sit on any brand of paint, it will eat through it, but when it comes to spills, I haven't had any troubles with brands like Tremclad, Rustoleum, Krylon, Duplicolor, etc. once they've thoroughly cured. It can take up to two week...or you can bake it at 250° for 30-45 minutes.
At about 1:19:30, when I return having gassed up the lantern and burned in the mantles (which I noted I had done) you can clearly see that they've been burned in.
I bake the fount after painting it and the results was amazing, thank you 🙏 very much
The green one to me is Gorgeous. Thanks for a comprehensive video.
Excellent video. Thank you so much. I recently came into a nice KampKook stove and now have an interest in the AGM lanterns.
Beautiful job.

i remember using the in the 70's nyc hot dog carts used some thing like this to heat the dogs
My first AGM valve removal didn't go near as good. The valve twisted off in the fount. It was a steel fount with rust inside.

@@king.coleman looked to me like the mantles were burning a bit strange looked like they were burning, when you had a hard time getting it lit
@@andrewfischer8564 All I'm seeing is a bit of initial flaring, which is normal until the generator is hot enough to varporise the fuel.
The quality of a lot of products is going down , even the more expensive ones.. So sad in these days.
Great video thankyou mhof_58
