Mediocre food, sadly. Relic are only a shadow of their past, sad times. CoH 1 with improved textures would still be better than CoH 3, which is absolutely insane.
@@dudeguybro No, i still enjoy CoH 1, especially Squad AI is missing in all newer CoH games. ps. please name a few mechanics in CoH 1 which were maddening?
I don't mind if the graphics only slightly changes. COH2 is already a beautiful-looking RTS and there is advantage with this: it can gain more players from COH2 fanbase since the PC requirement doesn't changed drastically.
What I think matters is its art direction though. I wish Relic still use the COH2-style painted portrait of each unit/commander.. instead of that seemingly cartooney 3D model as unit icon.
As a coh veteran I strongly recommend to anyone reading to NOT buy this game. It’s literally in a pre-alpha state right now full of bugs, pre alpha menus, missing features, no balancing whatsoever etc. If Relic patches this game in the next year or two, then pick it up. As it is now, you’ll regret spending 60€ on it. They do not deserve this much money for the quality of the product they have delivered.
I am a veteran too and I enjoy it. albeit the game needs balancing (for allied infantry and mortars) and some graphical adjustments, but I wouldn't go back to playing coh1 and coh2 (manually reinforcing, stalemate tanky situations, slower game pace). As for the bugs, i only had the stuck unit stuff once, so I can't say it was buggy for me (30H until now)
To me, the game is not exciting enough right now for me to leave COH 1 or 2. The gameplay does not looked evolved enough (plus I play tons of their capture point spin off games). That being said, I really want this game to succeed. Relic is one of the only big studios left in a RTS ish field. But player reviews are not looking great. I am really curious if someone will look into the fan complaints versus what they see, and how "valid" the issues players have with it. I also cant wait for the retrospective review some 5 to 10 years from now!
I bought it...and I regret it. I loved the first 2 games...I wish I saved my money. There is nothing to admire really...I find myself just turning the game off...
When you have to title the video "Company of Heroes 3 is actually really good" you know you're trying to sell a bad product. Stop beating a dead horse, just let it die already, the community has moved on. It's stuck with a 6/10 score on steam and the user base has dropped to 10k vs 6k for coh2 as of checking today.
I wish in the future they add Free French Forces & Vichy French.. and Co-Belligerent Italy & Fascist Italy factions/doctrine to the game. That would add more units variety to the game.
I still think it's lacking that special something. The mechanics seems to be there, but the soul and atmosphere and that made CoH1 and DoW1&2 feel so good and alive is missing. Like the units, they feel like robots, instead of individuals. And as a PvE player, that stuff is far more important to me than pure gameplay.
Thats what the overall game lacks for me. Theres no soul in it, its an empty shell. The graphics are just so.. bland. If you make direct comparisons with the previous 2 games this looks so much worse, because there is no art direction. Voicelines have vastly reduced humor and intensity. I could go on and on, but its not worth it. Its just a lesser game, in all departments.
I never got into CoH2, but i spent a lot of hours in CoH1 with my friends. I thought it's great that they went back to the style the had going on in CoH1
The times of good storytelling in such RTS-games seem to be far away. Most studios try to get MP rolling. As I'm a COH-fanboy (singleplayer) I like COH 3 very much though storytelling is not comparable to COH 1. I've been very disappointed and angry when I watched the first preview-vids. After buying the game and despite some really brutal bugs, I'm actually having fun and I'm (as a singleplayer) very fond of the battle dynamic and the battle effects.
I have to disagree with this been a good game on many front. 1. the graphics look dated, you can get texture packs for CoH1 or 2 to look better than this. If the game came out 2 years ago it would be fine but for this day and age there is no visual improvement over the last entry. Is it the lighting engine that is blowing out all the colour? 2. The audio feels flat compared to the prior games, the sounds just lack that punch. 3. They should of committed to just 1 good campaign. What you showed looked bear bones and not worth the time, and comparing the big map to total war was a mistake because it made CoH3's one look way worse. 4. The combat animations, im sorry but a flame thrower shooting through a giant rock to hit something the other side should not be happening. Also looks like they have removed negative cover for troops just standing in a street. The troops don't try and find cover or a logical position before entering combat. Honestly this feels like it should have been an expansion pack to CoH2 but was left on the cutting room floor for 10 years and they wanted to turn it into a full game. The game feels like its going backwards instead of having 10 years to improve. I've said my piece. if you like it, more power to you. But if you want a better single player experience get CoH1 and its expansions, get a texture improvement mod and you will have a much better time at a much lower price.
Gonna be honest COH1 doesn’t look any better than this game in graphics or gameplay. Also units shooting through solid objects has always been in the series so its not like its something the other games do any better
I'm reading some Steam Reviews, and one common complaint is that Sega didn't dubbed the game outside English... Just like DoW 3... And this really sucks.
I disagree entirely with your view. As someone with over 10k hours logged across COH1/COH2 and Blitzkrieg I cannot view COH3 as anything other than an abject failure. The game looks/feel like a mobile game later ported to console. Gone is the weighty, punchy sound from the first and second games, the thundering tracks of a Tiger II, the growling of a panther engine, the ratatatata of an MG42 echoing across the battlefield, all giving distinct feedback to the player on where to focus their attention. Gone are the dynamic squad animations as your units run and dive into trenches for cover and peak over rubble. Gone is the at-distance engagements and meta gameplay between TD's and heavy AT guns, snipers and counter-snipers. Gone are amazing particle effects and proper damage modelling. Gone are over a decade of improvements made by the modding community, such as a strategic zoom, WW2 unit decals and commander tree optimisations. Instead we get a game that feels like an alpha test for a console spin-off of the first game with a UI that looks like it was designed on an etch-a-sketch by a five year-old. Do people honestly not remember the feeling playing as the Americans and hearing the rumble of a KT in the distance before it bursts through a tree-line and proceeds to annihilate your Sherman column? This has none of that. COH3 is to the COH franchise as Battlefield Heroes was to Battlefield franchise. It doesn't even feel like a COH game, it feels sterilised and child-friendly, like they looked at COH1/COH2 and thought "Man, war is too brutal, let's get rid of all the adult-stuff". I don't understand how anyone who has actually played the first/second games can look at this and not be appalled by what Relic have done to yet another beloved franchise. There is nothing COH3 does better than COH1 or COH2 and it does nearly everything worse. This isn't the COH I spent vast amounts of my teenage years comp-stomping on with friends, It feels like DOW 3 did, and as lifelong RTS player, that really sucks.
back when Coh1 was new, this would classify as an expansion pack. i also don't think they even played coh or coh2, otherwise they would never released it in this way.
@@notjohnnyrico This seems to be an industry-wide problem at the moment. Everyone wants to make things look like Fortnite so kids will spend their parent's money on it. @@Hunter_6601 Your response is literally the same dude. Think about what you have to say before you try to tell someone else not to do something you’re literally doing.
I really, really wanted this game to be good but it's a cluster of bad design and half complete features. I pre-ordered the deluxe and it killed me to refund it but it's just not what it should have been.
Kind of confused why people keep saying the new campaign is a more expanded upon Ardennes Assault while the only thing they have in common is a turn based map that goes into real time battles. I am not part of the crowd that makes the CoH3=Total War critique, but they have more in common then AA does (resource management, unit building and reinforcement, overworld map abilities, base capture, base damaging, relations, etc.) I also prefer a linear campaign, and the one given is....ehhhhhh. I generally go back and play CoH1 campaigns, where the focus is on the soldiers and their situation or objectives. Not on a civilian that reminds you that war is bad (CoH2 was also bad in this, where the focus should have been more in the moment and on the soldiers over reminding you the age of Stalin was not very good). Still fairly disappointed there was no Italian faction in the Mediterranean. Actually stings that the few Italian units in are being used to spice up Germany 2 electric boogaloo
2:05 if you are referring to the Blue dot underneath companies, that does not represent Move capabilities but rather Attack capabilities. Once they attack they will lose movement though so keep that in mind. It also goes away if they are out of supply like in enemey territory, which would require you to move them to supply areas or friendly lines.
Zade, thanks for the review, mate. TLDR: about half of the CoH community suffers from PTSD and schizophrenia, so that's probably where the online ramblings akin to homeless men have come from. However, I have to ask, when is a Total war campaign not repetitive? I know the styles aren't exactly the same, but the influence is there. It's not really surprising that grand strategy - slightly dumbed down, mind you - gets repetitive. The real only variance Total War would give you is if you changed factions. Other than that it was building your "towns", auto-resolving most of the time, and fighting close battles - repeat, repeat, repeat.
Yes but WHTW 3 has more depth via those factions, skill-trees, hero unlocks, unit compositions that actually change the meta, quests, fun stuff to do outside the main narrative, the battles are more engaging, you have magic, interesting over-map stuff like portals, diplomacy etc. The loop is the same, but the complexity and depth is on another level. There's a LOT of variety in each play-through if you choose it.
Grand Strategy is never repetitive. Thats why Total War and Paradox games have so much replay value. Unlike a regular campaign a Total War campaign is a Sandbox. Every time is different
I agree to an extent, 'Total War' style campaigns are inherently repititive due to how they're made, but I think in games like Warhammer 2 it take s a lot longer to get to that point thanks to how many goddam mechanics are in that game, whereas here it's stripped back quite a bit
No matter how many people says this game looks great I can not convince myself. I think this game looks like a patch or a big DLC with some remastering elements. Nothing more.
I would agree with being happy with removing the Microtransaction garbage from CoH2, but hope they keep up the mod support and small customization choices they added. Really enjoyed making my Canadian army through mods. Still though, still think they should have done the Pacific theater. Expanding on the weather mechanics in 2 with Island warfare in that theater. Maybe Sega wouldn't let them for reasons......... Would be interesting though to play as the Aussies or New Zealanders for Ally factions. Maybe DLC for this game?
4:46 Oh dear... going from the 15 mission campaign in CoH1 and 14 mission campaign in CoH2, to an 8 mission one in CoH3 is not something to brag about. Now I know there's also a turn based campaign but that's not what I'm looking for in a singleplayer experience. All in all, this is turning out to be a bit of a disappointment for me. 😔
I actually don't mind germans being passive on the campaign map. I'm a chill slow type of player. When I play total war games I usually build up my economy 1st and progress in tech and then fight with late game units so I can level them up and gain veterancy. After all, the german italian campaign was where germans mostly defended as the allies were pushing in. That was due to the mountain terrain, germans tried to take advantage of it and set up defensive lines. That being said it would be good to get it fixed at least for hard difficulty so that you would get attacked more. I think the campaing map needs more work gameplay wise but I'm having fun with it so far. I think it's more fun than a linear 10 mission campaign like in old COH.
COH 3 Sucks !!!! Do not buy it !!!!! I went back to COH 2 after playing COH 3: - The maps are really poor, COH 1 and 2 has some very interesting maps were you could choke the enemy, not on COH 3 - Lost MG nests. - MG lost power, Mgs on building lost their power too. - Graphics are really poor. 10 years after COH2 and it looks worst, really? And this "Reviewer" (Zade) sucks too. Seriously you pay 70 pounds and you get 3 maps against AI, and this guys recommends it? FFS
I admit I only played some skirmishes to try it out, see if it's enjoyable enough to live up to the franchise, or if I should refund it and, ah... The factions were more same-y than ever, the style a bit more cartoony but that's personal preference, and being unable to build nearly as many defensive positions whilst also relying on the battlegroup loadouts like in Company of Heroes 2 has concerned me greatly. Not to mention how extremely zoomed in it feels with the new focus on elevation, without the option to shrink the UI even though it gets cluttered by command points spent on upgrades in the same UI as the alpha
@@Zade_95 It's fine on some maps, but when you're playing on the mountain side you can't see the rooftops on some of the buildings half of the time. Don't get me wrong, the game Does have some improvements, a major one I don't hear enough is the cursor changing to show whether your units have to move to engage or can stay in their defensive positions, but it feels unfinished and while there is no shop yet, the battlegroup system feels tailor made for another host of micro DLC, while it feels like the only element really diversifying the factions even a little. It has the most content because every faction seems to have copy pasted 90% of their building options from the HQ to the engineers. And I'm sorry for ranting on it but I see the UI design and all I can think is: With my most barebone knowledge of menu design I can tell they must have had the intern make it, everything /feels/ like the first versions of the PNG files used to put the menu and UIs together. I miss the days of the early Age of Empires where the UI had some texture, there's a reason people got so frustrated at Warhammer 3 on the release with everything being a monotone red. And these are things that are usually the cheapest to fix if you keep your art team for longer than the first few months of development. It has the foundation to be a fun game but with how the factions are I doubt it'll ever be the best of the CoH games without a major overhaul to how the factions work and if by some miracle SEGA does not want to squeeze out some extra pennies out of what little goodwill is back. I know I've gone on a tangent, I want to be more open to these kinds of games but I also dread that the standards of what is acceptable on some elements of a game are being dropped
This is a good considered review after spending a considerable amount of time with the game. I personally don't agree with how the steam reviews are going. I am a bit concerned that will significantly impact sales
The campaign is excellent, it is not easy at all, not because of the great AI, but because of mission objectives that are not easy at all. Dawn of War 4 with a campaign inspired by this would be super cool.
Honestly the main reason i dont like this game is because of the disgusting graphics. This looks like a mobile game, way worse than CoH 1. (which came out in 2006)
Besides the fact I am using a work laptop and can't run the game, I am sad about the fact that: a) Soviets will probably never be added, no matter what, because of the current political situation (literally Cold War 2: Electric Boogalo) b) Japanese will never be added, because Sega will not allow Relic to depict their ancestors, and we know what these ancestors did (Nanking is the perfect example) Thus making a DLC about late war Soviets vs Japanese theatre impossible.
A year later and Coh2 still averages 1000 more concurrent players than Coh3. Nothing much has changed, but I’d love a re-review to check in on its current state
Creative Assembly is part of Sega too, Relic should ask for help. After the awfull DoW3 and the mediocre AoE4 Relic needs a masterpiece. Hope this game gets fixed.
A german italy camapign could be interesting, i meanm, they got unuqie abilities and such. Me, I kinda hate how timed some side objectives are, like I got one with only 2 turns, despite not having a unit near enough to get there in time. Side objectives trigger should consider positions of the units., suffered from Anzio too,, forced to a beach landing to stop it, as monte casino triggered at the same time And the Stujas, at first, I really feared they would attack, before realizing they are harmless on the map
1:50 Excellent? Man you have no standards at all. Is this the first game you play? It looks the exact same as CoH2, visually its absolutely terrible for 2023 as it looks like 2010...wow..excellent lmao
It's 2023 we still vehicles that turns in full circle or flamethrower going to rocks. The cinematic feels low-quality. Sega should sell-off Relic & CoH to Microsoft. Sega is not the right fit for them.
Everyone seems to want to suck on one long bridge maps, turtling and having five Tigers in their pocket. Which I absolutely hate. So this game with it's much better focus on lighter vehicles and the rare tiger, makes me very happy. It's why I rather liked men of war assault squad 2 - despite its latency issues. The focus on early skirmishes, light tanks come out, then escalation, late game heavies and it's over. I look forward to what comes next. Hopefully pulling the zoom level back a bit or at least allowing it. I would die if the Japanese were included for once, and Soviets are a given. Battlegroups on the other hand with unit visual customisation will be quite good for showcasing future inclusions I bet.
As someone that doesn't fancy CoH3, here are my reasons: 1. No Italian faction in the game made for the Italian theater. 2. Graphics are on par with CoH2, how old is CoH2 again?? 3. Loses depth for the sake of monetization (basic skins, basic commander options with recycled abilities) 4. Doesn't depict WW2 the way previous games did, look at the first mission of every campaign in previous titles and then look at the first mission of the Allies in CoH3, no horrors of war, no hopelessness, no soul. 5. Lack of depth, only seen in mods... CoH Blitzkrieg mod is still the definitive CoH experience for the last 13 years.
How people can say COH3 looks and sounds like a mobile game is beyond me lmao. Great video! I’ll pick the game up myself once it’s more polished, I’m a huge fan of 1 & 2 with hundreds of hours in their multiplayer
still same engine with unit firing through rocks and terrain... same old RNG hit chance.. same old random poor accuracy stormtrooper style... what about modablility? there's nothing that hype me here. i don't think i will play this one. i will wait for men of war 2 and ratten reich for my yearly dose of ww2.
If im going to be 100% honest, this game wouldve been better as DLC like dark crusade for dawn of war. charging triple A prices for what couldve just been a standalone expansion is criminal.
Personally, i feel like they're just remaking CoH1 with a different setting and some new units tacked in. What's the point of setting it in mediterranian if the game don't even have el duce's army or even italian communist resistance?
with all respect to you man, how much they pay you, the game is a real garbage from all sides, not intereating at all grafics is not everything but even in this case it is garbage
sometimes I wonder if us gamers is just so hard to please or we kept putting high expectations. As a fan of RTS games, hope the genre died out so that we can regret not given these games any chance to improve on a good but unpolished foundation. Also I have the feeling we could get reviews like that of Sins 2 is just a hd SOASER with no other improvements. tempest rising an outdated concept of rts with 'updated' graphics. just to name a few.
The problem rts has already pretty much died but we aren't seeing people chill out with their reviews. I think this hyper critical attitude is a problem for the wider strategy genre. Look at the steam reviews of any city builder and you'll see "at some point you build everything you can and there isn't much point playing afterwards" , which is particular unfair since it is a problem inherent in the genre. People hate on crusader kings 3 even though it contains almost enough content to be considered a side grade to ck 2 just because it didn't have all the features implemented in a game that was continually updated for 6 years. Civ 6 is still called dumbed down because of its art style even though at launch it was a more complicated game than civ 5.
@Ryan Vetter haha no thats not what I was trying to address when i wrote that comment but more towards people who were to hypercritical of it. the other commenter sums it up. also you do you. we should vote with our wallets. Im saying to those that bought the game and expect that they were gonna be major changes when previously the major consensus is that no need for any improvements of gameplay. Just an upgraded(or downgrade depends on who you ask) in the existing way of play. In the end relic mistake was it wanted to satisfy both coh1 and coh2 fans but failed to do both. But I do respect they changing up a bit how the campaign played. I thought they wouldnt want to innovate anymore after dow3 debacle.
For people complaining about sound, a few sounds are probably bugged. However, the sounds from coh 1 and coh 2 were completely fake sounded like a ridiculous American movie.

Small amount of maps (you will play the same few maps over and over and over in the dynamic campaign), no ability to surrender in MP games, no match stats, no replay, no competitive matchmaking and ranks, worse sound for guns and explosions than previous games,... Looks like all the above is not important when receiving free keys from Relic. So far for this "review".
@@ryanvetter5852 well I guess that's how you see it. I rather see it that his review focused on the aspects he knows. Besides, most people who play rts don't even touch competitive multiplayer.
Hi... so Campaign wise its good thats fine with me. But u say it's excellent....i think thats an overstatement. Since u dont't like PvP that much I'm not sure if saying "excellent game" is right. There are many balance issues, many core features that make PvP kinda annoying to play. (good Reddit post that tried to collect everything that's missing for quality of life improvement) We had a tech demo and.... either Relic doesn't care about Feedback or the players didn't give any?! Bc the changes were not that great. Though the recent Patch 1.0.1 nerfed the DAK quite a bit vehicle wise, that's good... but could have been implemented from the start. So I think excellent is not rly right. Maybe for the Campaign but not for the multiplayer. What do you all think? But otherwise nice Video.
I’m going to say based on steam reviews, discussions, and Reddit reviews… your opinion is the minority. The game plays smoother than the previous two games, but it’s also sacrificed on the micro detail side to accomplish that - hence why people complain about the plastic, mobile game look. That’s a reference or allusion to how mobile games have to dumb down features and graphics / effects to even operate on a mobile platform and be a smooth experience. That exactly explains the sacrifice with COH 3, making it feel like a step backwards for the series.

I don't mind if the graphics only slightly changes. COH2 is already a beautiful-looking RTS and there is advantage with this: it can gain more players from COH2 fanbase since the PC requirement doesn't changed drastically.
What I think matters is its art direction though. I wish Relic still use the COH2-style painted portrait of each unit/commander.. instead of that seemingly cartooney 3D model as unit icon.
same with aoe4, 20+ years later and graphics dont do justice to the franchise, aoe3 looks better
@@SuperDomochan Could care less about graphics, both CoH 3 and AOE4 play well, and in a RTS that's all that matters to me honestly
@@SuperDomochan That's just not true lol
And yet it launched with mod/workshop support immediately soooo. Give the community a bit
I bought it...and I regret it. I loved the first 2 games...I wish I saved my money. There is nothing to admire really...I find myself just turning the game off...
i bought it and i like it. def a lot of QOL changes for pvp
Still think they should have done the Pacific theater. Expanding on the weather mechanics in 2 with Island warfare in that theater. Maybe in DLC?
Poland soldier to...

I'm still flabbergasted ITALY isn't a playable faction in a game set IN ITALY. That's like if the Soviets hadn't been playable in CoH2.

I agree, but it doesn't border me, because I playing mainly online. AI is just silly spam, with cheese resource bonuses, map hack and soo on.
I never got into CoH2, but i spent a lot of hours in CoH1 with my friends.
I thought it's great that they went back to the style the had going on in CoH1
Exactly Sega relic has no soul that moved to BBI blackbird interactive
The times of good storytelling in such RTS-games seem to be far away. Most studios try to get MP rolling. As I'm a COH-fanboy (singleplayer) I like COH 3 very much though storytelling is not comparable to COH 1. I've been very disappointed and angry when I watched the first preview-vids. After buying the game and despite some really brutal bugs, I'm actually having fun and I'm (as a singleplayer) very fond of the battle dynamic and the battle effects.
That's looking good to me! Gotta wait a bit before I can get it but, it looks like a good addition
13:30 "CoH3 is excellent" meanwhile on Steam "55%" ...
Seems like it is still hard to unify the strategy community
it always is :P
100%
Zade is a shill and a bootlicker. Get on with the program
I'm reading some Steam Reviews, and one common complaint is that Sega didn't dubbed the game outside English... Just like DoW 3... And this really sucks.
oh man. if thats true thats a BIG l
Can't disagree with you. There is serious problem with the art direction COH3 is currently doing.
@@notjohnnyrico This seems to be an industry-wide problem at the moment. Everyone wants to make things look like Fortnite so kids will spend their parent's money on it. Fucking Chaos Gate, a game set in THE *grimdark* universe of 40k, looks like fucking fortnite.
If OPs comment is right I'm going to be super unhappy. There are few things that annoy me more than sterilizing franchises I like with family friendly bullshit.
Yeah, everything is too clean and almost looks plastic. I'll be skipping this one and just play CoH1 or CoH2. Fired up Men of War Assualt Squad 2 the other day and forgot how much I enjoy the combat, though it has a steeper learning curve.
Same ... Im disappointed 😞
Kind of confused why people keep saying the new campaign is a more expanded upon Ardennes Assault while the only thing they have in common is a turn based map that goes into real time battles. I am not part of the crowd that makes the CoH3=Total War critique, but they have more in common then AA does (resource management, unit building and reinforcement, overworld map abilities, base capture, base damaging, relations, etc.)
I also prefer a linear campaign, and the one given is....ehhhhhh.
Ah, thank you!
Looking It like that even Doom Eternal is repetitive. You do some platforming, look for some collectibles and shoot demons, rinse and repeat.
I agree to an extent, 'Total War' style campaigns are inherently repititive due to how they're made, but I think in games like Warhammer 2 it take s a lot longer to get to that point thanks to how many goddam mechanics are in that game, whereas here it's stripped back quite a bit
Nice to see that they didn't pull a second Dawn Of War 3 there.
They did.
Huh?. It's to early to tell. Lets see what happens in 6 months to a year.
No matter how many people says this game looks great I can not convince myself. I think this game looks like a patch or a big DLC with some remastering elements. Nothing more.
Probably wait for a sale then.
while i agree its good in terms of graphic, but i cant for the life of me figure out how would anyone say the audio is good? its ass
Maybe DLC for this game?
dude I would've been SO DOWN for pacific theatre
The "sea battle" mentioned in the vid cooouuuld be a sign of what's to come.
I'm hoping CoH4 is the PTO with the dynamic map expanding from Burma to, like, Midway or even Hawaii.
This is probably the least rocky launch Relic has had in years, so i will call this an absolute win.
agreed
I went back to COH 2 after playing COH 3:
- The maps are really poor, COH 1 and 2 has some very interesting maps were you could choke the enemy, not on COH 3
- Lost MG nests.
Not to mention how extremely zoomed in it feels with the new focus on elevation, without the option to shrink the UI even though it gets cluttered by command points spent on upgrades in the same UI as the alpha
oh dude I TOTALLY forgot to mention the camera. It could do with being zoomed out another 25% or so
@@Zade_95 It's fine on some maps, but when you're playing on the mountain side you can't see the rooftops on some of the buildings half of the time.
"the best kind of correct" - I see you fellow Futurama lover
Thanks for the review. I will wait some months for a more polished product.
This is a good considered review after spending a considerable amount of time with the game. I personally don't agree with how the steam reviews are going. I am a bit concerned that will significantly impact sales
Thanks, appreciate it! Yeah I don't quite get it either. Might make an extra video on it tbh :P
did they not have an ui designer? the ui looks absolutely shit, bland, boring and all over the place, it looks unfinished
Sadly it is a mobile game. Microtransactions everywhere
(which came out in 2006)
TBH I didn't know this was out until I saw your video. You're my only inroad into this community. So for me, this wasn't late and wasn't old news.

Besides the fact I am using a work laptop and can't run the game, I am sad about the fact that:
a) Soviets will probably never be added, no matter what, because of the current political situation (literally Cold War 2: Electric Boogalo)
b) Japanese will never be added, because Sega will not allow Relic to depict their ancestors, and we know what these ancestors did (Nanking is the perfect example)
Thus making a DLC about late war Soviets vs Japanese theatre impossible.
Relic said it, they can't put factions with shit tanks in the game due to balance reason, so Japanese zerg rush or Italian tankette spam never ever
there was a coh1 mod japanese vs Chinese, not sure if official.
@@oc5058 it isn't and also is pretty unbalanced. Just like CoH1.
Anybody know when the game launches on consoles? My current pc can only handle coh1 lmao.
I wouldn't want CA's help after their own past fumbles.
AOE4 had a rough start. But is easily one of the best rts ever made.
When a game has an italian campaing but not an italian faction tsk tsk bad game
Please consider making an updated version review down the line. CoH is a big deal for many of us older RTS fans.
Yeah i might do a big look back in a year or so, I've done some follow ups already if you're interested though!

Excellent? Man you have no standards at all. Is this the first game you play?
It looks the exact same as CoH2, visually its absolutely terrible for 2023 as it looks like 2010...wow..excellent lmao
It's 2023 we still vehicles that turns in full circle or flamethrower going to rocks. The cinematic feels low-quality. Sega should sell-off Relic & CoH to Microsoft. Sega is not the right fit for them.
Agreed! SEGA never made an RTS under its wings.. but Microsoft has tons of it
Everyone seems to want to suck on one long bridge maps, turtling and having five Tigers in their pocket.
Relic aint what they used to be ;/
They used to make fantastic RTSs DOW3 really bummed me out.
All the telent left when Sega bought it the are now at BBI blackbird interactive making homeworld 3
I got it this summer 2024 and i like it alot coming from Coh 1 being my childhood game

Why is the Dynamic campaign being compared to Total War instead of Dawn of War (Dark Crusade/Soulstorm)? Oo
I actually thought about going this route but I thought it might be too old of a reference!
Thanks for your review!
It's not Total War Warhammer the dynamic campaign should be compared with, it's basically improvement over Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 2 Soulstorm
As someone that doesn't fancy CoH3, here are my reasons:
1. No Italian faction in the game made for the Italian theater.
2. Graphics are on par with CoH2, how old is CoH2 again??
3. Loses depth for the sake of monetization (basic skins, basic commander options with recycled abilities)
I would love the pacific USA vs. Japan island hopping campaign as DLC.
Land-based campaign-wise, why not USA v Japan on mi pais The Philippines
me too man. super hopeful this is on the cards
They need to make a game focusing on the Japanese side of the war
would love a pacific theater COH 100%
That was relics initial plan, then the community asked for more of the same, then complained it was more of the same when it released🤷♂️
This review has to be some kind of joke. The game is unfinished and de void of content.
I felt that way about the 2nd game so didnt buy this one . Just get men of war assault squad and mod it
So basically they inspired themselves by the Wargame franchise campaign system starting past Wargame Air Land Battle, right...?
There's a lot of unseen boundries.
I’ve been really hyped for this one
How people can say COH3 looks and sounds like a mobile game is beyond me lmao. Great video! I’ll pick the game up myself once it’s more polished, I’m a huge fan of 1 & 2 with hundreds of hours in their multiplayer
The game doesn't look that bad, but it's really not a good looking game when you compare it to already release game
Thank you mate!

there's nothing that hype me here.
i don't think i will play this one.
i will wait for men of war 2 and ratten reich for my yearly dose of ww2.
If im going to be 100% honest, this game wouldve been better as DLC like dark crusade for dawn of war. charging triple A prices for what couldve just been a standalone expansion is criminal.
They keep reducing the scale, not sure if I’m a fan.
I’m gonna wait for a couple months before I check back into picking it up.
totally fair!
13:55 But it was a mess at launch at full price and there is still no german voice acting at the horizon in november 2024!
Personally, i feel like they're just remaking CoH1 with a different setting and some new units tacked in. What's the point of setting it in mediterranian if the game don't even have el duce's army or even italian communist resistance?
with all respect to you man, how much they pay you, the game is a real garbage from all sides, not intereating at all grafics is not everything but even in this case it is garbage

the campaign alone makes this worth it
Finally after a decade it's back!
Dang finally. That too literally ages.

sometimes I wonder if us gamers is just so hard to please or we kept putting high expectations.
@@camerontorrance1992 I wholeheartedly agree with you. I guess some of us rts/strategy/sim building fans are just too spoiled.
People like Hollywood bombastic bulshit.
Look at coh 1 and you will see both games looks better. Especially explosions, muzzlefire and soundeffects would blow u away in coh 1 and 2
hard disagree here - you should put them side by side
@@Zade_95 Dude, coh1 is from 2006 and coh2 is from 2013. its been 10 YEARS! Where are the graphical changes. Can't believe that you dont see it. Did you ever play coh2 or coh1? Explosions were massiv.
@Zade sorry man, but you sound really biased. Just watched you're video again and to say "the game looks and sounds EXCELLENT" and people don't think so are high is just a damn lie and extremely biased. Very dissapointing.
Yup they are better in 1 &2
🤔 Seems out of touch with the vast majority of other reviews, especially compared to the Steam player base.
yeah i was surprised to read them. might do a follow up video discussing it
Small amount of maps (you will play the same few maps over and over and over in the dynamic campaign), no ability to surrender in MP games, no match stats, no replay, no competitive matchmaking and ranks, worse sound for guns and explosions than previous games,...
Looks like all the above is not important when receiving free keys from Relic. So far for this "review".
Well to be fair everyone should know by know that Zade isn't a competitive multiplayer focused person.
@@ryanvetter5852 well I guess that's how you see it. I rather see it that his review focused on the aspects he knows. Besides, most people who play rts don't even touch competitive multiplayer.
Ranked is coming soon after balance, surrender ability? you can quit individually if you want
first footage you show is a STUG firing against some halftrack. It just felt wrong. I am very disappointed.
kaboom
It does not look like a mobile game but it plays like one. The game is way to easy.
I really liked the operations from tales of valor: stonewall, assault and panzerkrieg
I simply won't replace Coh2 by this one.
Hi... so Campaign wise its good thats fine with me.
I had a British Truck go under the bridge where should be on top. Yup that was bug.
New to your channel, I really like your delivery - you have a nice conversational pace.
Thanks - much appreciated!
DOW 4 like this would be cool.
a cool way to ruin the franchise
I think you hit on a winner. Company of heroes 4 should have ww2 naval battles.

Appreciation comment for giving the multiplayer a jab. Up the standards!
