you guys should do a bunch of videos on the controls of each piece of machinery for those of us who dont know how to run them. that would be really cool!!
I love the site, sound of old heavy equipment it's always been my dream since I've been a kid to be a heavy equipment operator. Just absolutely love the sound, feel of a heavy machinery equipment running
This brings back memories. When I was seven, my grandfather had just sold his farm. Four of these things were lined up and ready to flatten the fields and fill the small pond on the property. No one was around to stop me and already having had experience driving my Grandpa's Massey Ferguson tractor while the guys loaded hay onto the wagon it was pulling, I figured I was well enough acquainted with heavy equipment to give one of these babies a go. I climbed up and poked around and got one to start right away, and off I went, playing with the steering pulls and slowly plodding across the field. Then I couldn't figure out, though, how to turn it off so I jumped off of the big platform and ran for it. Fortunately my uncle was running after it after seeing me climb up and scrambled up the back and stopped it. When I grew up I tried a lot of shit jobs for women before going into civil engineering design, and have for the past 30 years done that and believe it or not, got my OSHA certification! Let me tell you, all the good toys are gone.
I used to work in heavy equipment repair with an old timer who once worked alongside my father repairing Cats. He told me back in the 70's a Arab company came to northeastern US buying up every cable dozer they could find since it was easier to fix than learning how to fix hydraulics in the Middle East . They rolled into a site where they were doing a service call and wanted to find the machine owner to pay cash and hall the dozer off. Reminds me of how the Japanese bought up bunches of muscle cars when the economy crashed in the late 80's and no one wanted to be in the market.
I've Often wondered the same thing. Just off the top of my with the video's I've seen, it's gotta be around 2 older three-axle scrapers, an elevating scraper, old grader, a D7, 2-3 D8s, 2-3 D9's, a 988A, a first gen 235 excavator, and a backhoe. I'm sure there are more judging my their plot. Lol, an absolute playground for us CAT fans.
Beats getting black soot all over you if by chance any water got into exhaust pipe. That shit will stain everything.not sure that was his initially intention but still timed it like it was.
The throttle is lever operated by hand. It is also the fuel cut-off so you can stop the engine. You can feel a detent when you pull it from engine stop to engine idle speed. That is where you start the engine. Once running and ready to go to work, you open the throttle lever to full open. It will stay there usually until you stop the machine to get off or service. At any rate, as long as you are working you don't touch the throttle lever, you simply depress the floor mounted decelerator to lower power output, shift from forward to reverse, or whatever. Makes it easy to do work where you have to be careful, like working close to something.
There's nothing like a old cat. Have seen old graders get pull stared and gallons of rusty water pour out of the exaust and run like they never shut off
Let the starting engine warm her up a bit--no need for ether. Roll her with compression off till she picks up oil pressure, then kick compression on , no throttle. After 4-5 minutes or less she'll go when you crack the throttle.
Worked on the D8s and did a bit of driving one back in the 80s saw a D9 two volvos a20s full of top soil all 3 chained to gether mud so deep the volvos cood not move gas pipe line . The D9 walked out touing the two volvos . Good old cat power love um 😆.hi from ireland😉.
Nah......we used the stuff for decades way up north in the cold where the old things wouldn't start without it, ether. Some people have started fires underneath of dozers just to get engines to fire up in the cold or thaw tracks stuck to the ground, froze fast.
leave the diesel governor control shutoff till the engine is warm enough to start. Using starting fluid on these old beauties makes the operators instantly amateurs.
Ahhh nothing beats the sounds of a good old turbo cat d9!👌🥰👍
I spent many many hours on D9s, mostly the D9H, pushed many scrapers with them. The sound of this D9 is sweet.

Always loved the Cat rattle especially on a cold morning- sounds like they're gonna come apart but run for 50 years.
I agree! Cold morning starts are the best! Watching an operator run a cable dozer is a treat.
I could listen to that engine all day long...
+Shawn Crowe
Second that comment!!
Re+Re the heads,,,,,,OOOOOGIE!
Nothing like an older Cat--big horsepower, lots of muscle and a great turbo. Sounds like it could move mountains in minutes.
Third that comment nothing like the turbo whistle and those old big Cat engines music to my ears. Sound like it ready to tear into a mountain.
I hear you man! Same here! The sound of that turbo diesel is awesome!
I love the site, sound of old heavy equipment it's always been my dream since I've been a kid to be a heavy equipment operator. Just absolutely love the sound, feel of a heavy machinery equipment running
Yea the new dozens and equipment dont have the sound and feel of the old stuff
My all time favourite the D9G!sounds awsome listen to that turbo!!!!
Watchig that old girl start with a pilot motor is a thing of buety and the fact that she is still a genuine cable blade is something special.
My neighbor use to have an old cable blade D9 when I was a kid. I was fascinated by it. Last time is saw it was south of Scranton KS.
I’m a Kansas native.. think they’d sell it

Those big Cats have a sound of confidence. No screaming RPM's, , just a little 'bump' on the governor when it needs a brief "oomph" in power. Love it.
Just love the purr of a d9
Listen to that CAT purr and the turbo whistle almost put me to sleep. Nothing sounds better and so relaxing. They don't make them like that anymore!
You should NEVER need starting fluid when the tractor has a starting (pony) engine! Been there, done that.
Dam I love your vids!! and that Ole iron!! ty!! for reminding us Ole school operators the gold of this world!!
Ikhijhvgh
Nothing like a 9'er I say. Incredible machines. I also have a 25% hearing loss from the whine and the roar.
love that sound!!
MERCY what a straight pipe!! Makes the heart hurt they sound so good. I suppose that's where my hearing went but it was for a good cause!!
jesus2484203488
Way more fun than most people can endure
Love to hear the turbo’s spin up and down.
My neighbor use to have a cable blade D9. Last time I saw it was south of Scranton KS
Éste video está bien relacionado a la máquina D9G , su sonido ,puesta en marcha da gusto escucharlo.
Not sure but I think most of the old cable machines didn't come from the factory with rops
coolest cat you have
What kind of ours are you to use starting fluid. Right out of the blackberry bushes
It didn't have rops when we bought it.
SO you guys just have a back yard full of old cat equipment? thats sweet!!
It's amazing power. It's cool. I appreciate from Japan.
Máquina muito legal, sou amante de máquinas aqui no Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷💪💪⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
Lovely sounded tractors when really put to work
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Are these TCT Transport Company of Texas something like that in South Texas 'grave yard' ? Large one was in Mexico. Used World wide and brought home.
Damn that's some old equipment. So long as the major steel isn't rusted, that'll run forever and a man can fix it himself.
Nothing like the sound of CAT engines.
That exhaust whistle sounds like a GMC 6x6 !!
r u going to take the push bade off

You use that bucket for the back pressure or whatever seeing as it has no muffler?
How cold was it here ? you use ether to start it, but i see no white smoke when it starts ??
Keep them working a little they. Last forever love the past it was the good olds
How do you keep up with where all the equipment is? Seems like i would forget.
I wish i had one
Lovely sounded tractor when working properly
Excelente maquina siempre me ha gustado esa marca de maquina
How many pieces of equipment do you and your dad now own?
Are you using the brake for the right side?
That thing is a beast
Awesome!
TAKE THE CAN OFF!! You're driving me CRAZY!!! lol
Beats getting black soot all over you if by chance any water got into exhaust pipe. That shit will stain everything.not sure that was his initially intention but still timed it like it was.
that was a cool push start
The sound of the turbo on the 9 is sweet/
Just curious, whats the current inventory? Do you guys still have the old Beemsterboer Cat?
how big is the muffler on the cat
Lo mejor.....el sonido del turbo....!!!!
Grouser bars look great.
The world can thank Rudolph diesel for creating these awesome engines 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
con you do a vid on how to operate that dozer
1:05 So THIS is where they got the audio for the movie XD
Whats the Specs on that cat scraper i like it.
Looks like the land of misfit toy's over there!
Is the D9G for sale?
How does the throttle differ from the decelerator? Do you just set the max RPM with the throttle and use the decel to slow the motor?
mojostevo Musil Welche
mojostevo yes

Don't ya think you should remove the bucket from the exhaust before you start it ? Daah.
D9 g aint blade roped in hydraulic
There's nothing like a old cat. Have seen old graders get pull stared and gallons of rusty water pour out of the exaust and run like they never shut off
they haven't always been standard little own an option
Old Girl has a Sweet Sound...

Joe Moore I agree, but I use ether on my D8H when it's cold out because five minutes is about half a tank of gas, and I never have that much in it!
Its alive!
Still got nice pads
Worked on the D8s and did a bit of driving one back in the 80s saw a D9 two volvos a20s full of top soil all 3 chained to gether mud so deep the volvos cood not move gas pipe line . The D9 walked out touing the two volvos . Good old cat power love um 😆.hi from ireland😉.
Doesn't have a muffler.
Por esos años Cat hacia maquinas para trabajar. Hoy dia para pasar trabajo
i like it
I believe it was called a Pony Engine.
Donkey Engine in UK
Easy start In a can" The worst thing to Knock the Bottom end out,.
Nah......we used the stuff for decades way up north in the cold where the old things wouldn't start without it, ether. Some people have started fires underneath of dozers just to get engines to fire up in the cold or thaw tracks stuck to the ground, froze fast.
essa turbina piando, muito top.
Buenos los vídeos muy bonitos👍👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀😀
...you guys have a motorhead theme park going there...
lol yea
Paradise Road óí

I operated a D9 as well as a DJB end dump. I think DJB sold to Cat in the 90's.
A little bite of either,
Son hermosos los tractores
Sound 🤩😋🥰
I ran the D9G with both a conventional straight dozer and a push dozer, like this D9G has for pushing scrapers.
Que hermosa máquina para desmontarar los monte en santiago
Maquinas cat linia amarilla super mucho prestigio a nivel mundial 💪💪👍👍
Caterpillar é caterpillar. 100%
Nice.
Olha o pé no freio
The not so good ole day's. Today's younger operators haven't a clue as to how good they have it on modern equipment!.....
I may be 17, but boy does every construction vehicle fascinate me, no matter the age.
Имел честь на таком поработать.
Cool 💪⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
Magnas antigas bonito
But the big 6 sound's awesome
Wawww se vraiment belle wawww Flow me vive la llmagne
