We understand that the word 'treasure' may not have been the best choice of words, as it may suggest a literal value. However, when we used the term 'treasure', we meant to convey that value is being added to the material produced through the recycling process. By transforming old tires into rubber crumb and other products, we are not only conserving resources and reducing waste in S Africa, but also creating valuable materials that can be used in a wide range of applications.

Price will vary depending on particle size distribution and inco terms etc. There is a lot of interest internationally but if you can valorise the product yourself, value is automatically created and retained by you!

From what I gather, a simple fire can smoulder for years especially when tyres are intentionally or un-intentionally set alight. With the volume of tyres in Kuwait, it become an almost impossible task to contain. The same goes for a fire that was started by arsonists in Wales many years back at a tyre dump that was underground. It was only contained properly 10 years later.

These are removed by debeading and magnetic separation.

Unsure about this one but most other facilities I've seen that recycle old tires usually have a machine that pulls the majority of the cables out of the tire then there's another conveyor that has what appears to be magnetic that collects other left over bits of metal out of the pulverised mixture. Could be similar here though not sure.
