I love that your bows are recurved and sometimes reflexes but not deflexed. This makes your bows faster. Deflex makes the bow a bit forgiving but takes away speed. Your content is so amazing. If you see my comment. I would like to know. Could I make a bow with a width of 1 and half inch width just above the handle and then slightly thinner at the tips? Thanks
Looks great, nicely done! you're right about thick rawhide, with regards to efficiency it's not ideal. I've used titebond 3 wood glue to apply rawhide. One thing I want to try sometime, and I've seen others do it, is stop the backing, e.g. rawhide, 3-4" from the tip so that the string won't catch on it when unstrung. Also, I love the black accents, they look great.
Thank you! I agree with your suggestions. That's for sure not the best option for bows performance. Titebond 3 seems the most popular glue for rawhide backing. Cool idea! Thank you for the comment!
nice backing ! Clay hayes use rawhide too and you may know "mead longbows" channel ? he make some kind of sinew from bamboo fibers it look strong as well.
@@DreamcraftBows they have experience and i suppose that come with years of building bows again and again so you're on the good way to get experience too
Hi! I love watching you work, and your bows are beautiful. But the part where you applied the glue with bare hands was painful to watch. Why dont you use a brush or some tool to apply it? I have no idea what im talking about, im just curious.
Tiller can change a little after backing a bow depending on what is used and It's uniformity of thickness. Rawhide and sinew will always add a few pounds to the finished draw weight, sinew even more so it shouldn't be a problem to get it back down to the desired weight. It's also a good idea to check it after a couple of hundred shots before sealing it.
Looks pretty nice, good job man! If you're looking for improvements, maybe check out the method used by Ryan from HuntPrimitive, he says his way not only guards the back from cracking, but also improves bow's performance.
As a newbie, I find this so inspiring. Thank you!
Appreciate it!!!

That rawhide backing would be very helpful
Sometimes it is!
Pretty little bow! Agree with the thick rawhide but it will do the job.
Thank you my friend! There is always a space for improvement.

@@DreamcraftBows i'm impatient ! You make nice work ! Dobra robota 😊
I was curious if you sized the back of the bow with hide glue before applying the rawhide?
Yes, a bit
Hello. you think it's possible with an eel skin?
Hi! Well, I think it's possible. I've seen some fish skin backed bows. It will probably be only decoration not reinforcement, but still cool idea
@@DreamcraftBows thank's I will test, I think , I have an eel skin
Wow, what a beautiful piece! Where did you get the rawhide?
Thank you! I bought it from reenactment guys
@@DreamcraftBows is it a store?
It's a small company in Poland selling blacksmith / reenactment stuff. I don't think they even have own page
Where are the differences between backing a bow with rawhide vs tendons?

Thank you sir, appreciate it! Lol I see your point, it was just the most comfortable for me to use my fingers. This glue is very specific to use
If you add rawhide to a finished bow, do you need to tiller it again?
