That's got nothing to do with it, that's because once you had the league win, you didn't care, var arsenal 2004, because wenger had said the year before they could go unbeaten, so even for the last few games they tried to not lose. I think you're missing the point by a country mile. The point is that that Utd team was probably the best Utd team ever. But wouldn't win the league this year with that point tally.
People can mock Arsenal and Liverpool all they want. But the reality is City are, and have been the constant standard, for coming up on a decade under Pep. People can mock Arteta, Klopp, and their sides all they want. But I have nothing but respect for both managers. They’ve created fantastic squads and have pushed a historically great City dynasty to their very limits again and again. Just because a team doesn’t win the title doesn’t mean they’ve crumbled and and are terrible. The margins are just razor thin with City as the standard bearer.

In the final table of 2023 Arsenal and Man city were level on points but Man City had one game in hand. Liverpool were 5 points clear and Spurs 1 point behind us. Lets assume both Arsenal and Man City win all their remaining games, which I not only believe is possible but actually likely. That will mean in 2024 Arsenal have dropped just 5 points, 2 of those away at Man City. Man City will of dropped 6 points, 2 of them at home to Arsenal. So in 2024 Arsenal have actually gained one point on Man City. If somebody had said to me on the 1st of January Arsenal will only drop 5 more points before the end of the season I would of said they were mad. If they had said to me that still wont be enough to win the league I would of said they were insane. From the 1st of January we would of had a 10 point turn around with Liverpool. A 15 point turn around with Villa, who were 2nd at the time. And a 13 point increase over Spurs. Our form has been remarkable, unforetuneately probably just not quite remarkable enough to over come a magnificent Man City side. Absolutely no shame in that. And anyone who tries to suggest Arsenal have been anything other than that is simply a.........they know what they are but sadly I wouldn't get away with saying it here.

The big difference is Utd would only make one big signing with few promising ones mostly. Where city since around 2013 consistently made 3/4 big signings.
Utd never had two top/top players for every position. That’s why city have been so dominant. There has never been a squad like it. Yes great teams but city have an incredible squad that’s the difference.

Arsenal fan here. We could’ve been better this season. Fair enough we’ve been great in 2024 but before that there’s many improvements. Not losing to West Ham at home, not drawing to Fulham at home when they had 10 men…

Not enough teams hate man city. Aston villa was super motivated to beat arsenal. Back in Man United era there was always some teams that would go 120% for one game because that was their trophy for that year is beating United, Liverpool or Arsenal. Nobody ever seems to put that level in against city. Klopp's +90 point teams would win All but 5 premiere league seasons. If arsenal get 92 points they would win all but 7 seasons. Man United only had more than 90 once. If you get plus 90 points and loose season then realistically how much more can you do when by points in single season you are 8th best team ever to play in the Prem.
Honestly, if it wasnt for Arsenal, Man City woulda won the league by December, last season and this season, Arsenal is the only side challenging to the end.

why arent we talking anything about the big pink elephant in the room?. when citys owners came and bought the club , they didnt have any economic rules they had to comply with ( dont get me wrong they need to be put in place ) like the leaugue has now. what has happened is that man city has been given such a headstart that evryone else is playing continous catchup to them . the rules should have been implimented from get -go. it was just a question of time before somebody was going to exploit the oppotunity without no real restraints put on them whatsoever .

Man u had more money than arsenal.& lvpl thanks to commercial revenue, broke transfer records, but it wasn't obscene accounts, that meant they could have a second team that was still quality, bench still had unknowns, not £100m players, that's the difference. Man city cryise to the title every year because they have a squad that they can rotate, so players, by gameweek 35, are still rather fit whereas lvpl & arsenal players are burnt out because bench has mo & Eddie, & bunch of 19yo. & before someone mentions transfer exp, wages are the bigger factor, that's why they can't have Phil & Bernard as backup to kdb

How does it not make sense to say you haven’t won the league because another team is too good? Is that not the only reason that you don’t win the league that those other teams are better and are too good? Because if you win, then the other team were not too good. When Liverpool lost the league by one point they were by all accounts one of the best teams in Premier League history and they didn’t win because city were too good. The logic of dismissing that you didn’t win the league because the other team was too good makes absolutely no sense. This is a competition. That’s literally the only reason you don’t win. The difference between the top teams and the bottom teams is how many teams are too good.
In both Chelsea and Manchester City they've both fiddled their accounts and cheated ffp so clubs who've lived by the rules have been denied. That to me is reason enough to say the top team aren't getting there unless they've cooked the books

The average points required to win the PL over the past 7 years has been 93 which is insane. City have built a dynasty, and spent miles more than any other team on player personnel.
The salary bill is the best indicator of a teams success in modern day football. And City have consistently paid stratospherically high wages, because their income is so high and they are funded by a country.
Context matters, to use your Usain Bolt analogy a little more. Coming second to Usain, the very best isn’t a failure is it? Getting a silver would be considered success.
Arsenal coming second to this City dynasty outgunned by finances in the most competitive PL in PL history is a successful season and creates a platform for another assault next season.
