1:20:48 I love the way he's climbing slowly at first, but when the cabin shudders, he starts climbing quickly. Definitely the funniest part of the movie for me. Had me rewinding several times.

This was filled in 1925 y it is 2022. The clock on his wall said 8 20 y I looked at my clock y it was the same time 97 years later. Hahahahahahaha 😊 I thought the movie dragged on, too much for my attention span thou I understood it was recorded as Charlie chaplin's favorite, perhaps to film. My 2 favorite scenes were the dog leash y Johnny Depp's replica of the 2 dancing potatoes in Benny y June. Thank you Charlie Chaplin.

Look. It is only a rather small film easy to make. Do not tell me it was a super fortune to get a bunch of extras to dress up in heavy clothes to imitate prospectors and dance hall girls.

finally the original with the organ music thanks for uploading i cant find this copy anywhere for some reason there is only some remake with some cheery orchestra music that makes no sense or the 1942 remake with voice over either way this is the true original
The movie was silent as original wasn't it, it was pianoplayers in the Cinema that played the music and medical effects, the music we hear in thoose movies are put in at a later stage.
A unique creation and acting of great actor Charles Spencer Chaplin. The Gold Rush, The Great Dictator, City Lights, Lime Light, The Circus, A day with a Dog, The Kid, Modern Times these are unforgettable. Although, mostly slapstick comedy.
Do you know which film has a scene of Chaplin in a river trying to get into a shack? His actress sticks her foot out of the door: Chaplin grabs it to save himself.

is this the original soundtrack of the 1925 version?
This music was added probably in the 40s or 50s. Originally silent films (1898-1929) had LIVE music, usually an organ or piano, accompanying it for sound purposes. There weren't "soundtracks" till the 1930s.

@@beemulkey798 Yes, that is very true. Many feature films going back to at least the mid-teens did have a specially commissioned music score to go along with the origihal film, such as "Birth of a Nation" (1915) for example; but also and of course this is different than a soundtrack.

This was from the silent era I guess, they had pianists playing inside the Cinema then so it could be the right music but with an whole orchestra instead of a single pianist.

Probably low budget film. The Chicken costume looks both uccky and cheap.
Be that as it may, and as we all well know (especially in recent decades), a film may have hundreds of millions of dollars spent on it and still not be able to disguise itself from being recognized as the cheap and worthless thing it really is.
Low budget is apparent in this film. Blame political correctness and far too overpriced actors mostly for why even big budget films now are real lousy.
@@beemulkey798 And remakes, unoriginal concepts, lazy writing and reboots also. The only good big budget movie that has come out recently is Top Gun Maverick as it avoided the typical sequel fare of explosions, over the top violence, language and special effects. It had amazing sound, special effects, cinematography, action sequences, directing and acting.
