can I ask what heat you have your hot air on to help desolder the ground pins? I recently got a desoldering gun as well but am having problems with the ground pins and not used to using hot air at all.
@@blackhorserepairs I have a hot air station as well it's just that I have never used it. I got the 948-II, that comes with hot air rework, soldering and desoldering. so just wondering what temp you would recommend having the hot air on when doing the ground pins. would 420 be good on that as well?
@@Dogefox24 it will be tough, get yourself some low-melt solder, that might help, and you'll probably need to use flux which will be a pain to clean the nozzle and the chamber
Waste of money, My completely died after 6 months. Would not even turn on. I got so upset I didn't even try to fix it. I just picked up a Hakko 301. You buy cheap you buy twice.
yeah, that's usually the case, cheap tools don't last but sometimes you get lucky, I have my cheap hot air station which lasted 2 years of heavy use, on the other hand my previous cheap station broke after 2 weeks :) you never know
I have the exact same desoldering station. Most of the time just sits there waiting, but when it's needed it's a life saver.
yeah, I've been waiting for the reason to buy it for a year :)

I use 380 on the gun but without hot air it's not enough to melt ground pins. Try with the bottom heater and maybe 420C

@@PatrickWaks I use 380 on hot air but event 300 will do the trick as long as there's 380 on the desoldering gun
@@blackhorserepairsawesome, that helped! Managed to get the ic off with your help!
@@PatrickWaks awesome, always glad to help
does this work well with desoldering lead-free solder?
yes, but for ground pins you will need to use hot air as well, you can also mix leaded solder to make it easier
@@blackhorserepairswould mixing the solder be enough? i dont have a hot air station 😭
