So are they going to do something about iPhones, TVs, washers and dryers made in China too?
That doesn’t fit the narrative, though.
If it’s a Chinese company HQ’ed in China and has some servers in China, then yes the US govt will like take action like they’ve done with all similar companies. Not companies like Apple that’s an American company that only has factories in China.
There are two variables here. Dji is a Chinese owned company. Anything dones is considered national security.
Whether you agree. That's the difference.
If it's a matter of national security, then yes, and they should.
Good question / point. No, not with this specific bill. However, this absolutely sets the stage for anything with connectivity to be targeted as well.
It never occurred to me that filming a sunset with my DJI drone could be a question of national security.
That's because they swapped out the Sun during COVID and they didn't want us studying it.... Stay woke
I always title the drone vid as Sunrise so china will attack india by mistake.
If our government were truly concerned about national security we wouldn’t have a wide open southern border.
Great comment and observation sir. Government can kiss my drone
I've tried all kinds of drones, nothing comes close to a DJI drone especially with the video quality.
Exactly why I'd probably never fly again. Idk, dji is just the best and all other drone companies do not compare.
Dji uses sony imaging sensors and Samsung vision sensors for avoidance. They own hassleblad now, thus the higher end Hass on Mavic. They don't manufacture their own sensors.
@@jonkuder3299 I'm shocked wall street doesn't sue them like the forest service sued the WWF claiming it is their name.
I was watching the ticker go across the screen and couldn't believe anyone would by DJI stock for that price. Turns out it wasn't Chinese company stock......
The Fact is US manufactured drones can’t compete with DJI. I don’t go for it being a National Security risk, we’re probably watching another Chinese spy balloon just cruise over our nuclear sites as I type this.😂
US made drones can't compete? I don't know what you're flying but many, many US made drones work flawlessly everyday in commercial and industrial settings. Everything from custom, job specific firmware, arrays of any sensor you want/need, autonomy. I'd be curious to know if you're a recreational pilot or you fly for a living, no flame, I'm just curious about what lens you're looking at it through.
@@beeawesome7140what’s the drone companies names ?
The Chinese excuse is just that an excuse. Congress has seen how drones are being used in Ukraine and that's why they want them banned. But they can never be honest because they're all a bunch of dirtbags
@@beeawesome7140”many us made drones” Would you care to name some companies that compete with dji?
@@beeawesome7140 Not sure about the original commenter but I only fly a drone recreationally but I work for a survey and engineering firm that have several drones and this seems like an odd move by the government. Chinese have a hand in literally every product purchased in the US. I would be more concerned China purchasing land in the US or the spike In Chinese nationals crossing illegally into the US than drones. Just my 2 cents
There might be class actions if they move to total ban. that’s a lot of financial impact that the government may be liable for
If the govt’s position is this is a “national security” issue the govt will do whatever they like. Any time the govt plays the national security card it gets what it wants.
Nah. You shouldn't be, but you'd likely be surprised what can happen when national security is the focus of the conversation in these committees .
National security will beat anything
Ban helicopters... ban airplanes. Ban guns. Ban bacon. Ban pot.. This country is a crock of sht
I just spent $1500 on an Air 3, If I can't Fly it and it's now useless...Somebody's giving Me my Fucking Money Back!
Quick question. When I fly my avata 2 I never connected to the app. I just turn it on and start flying it. So right now I’ve had mine for about 36 days and it shows zero flight record on it. I just looked at the app while watching this and it says starting June 12 about the flight record data so should I be flying the drone connected to the app or just keep flying it as is and will honor my DJI care insurance if I do wreck and I’m not connected to the app? Thanks for making this video. Looking forward to your answer.
Thank you! I am getting ready to launch my own drone photography biz after being off 2.5 years from my old job because of my health I am suspecting I suffer from EDS, due to get verification of that soon. And recent autism diagnosis at age 47, this is my pivotal movement toward my dream job. I wanted to get a DJI really bad! As well as the aux tools they offer. I'm working with an SBDC here in Houston to get my start up. I hope we can go on about our hopes and dreams soon. I subscribed. Thank you!
Good luck to you and your business! I too wish to start an aerial photography, videography business as well
Thank you for the update (& link)!
Thanks for the update
Thanks for the update.
I thought that care refresh program was syncd on the drone flight. I didn't know that DJI already had that information. I'm just saying I thought that's why they would ask people to send their crashed drones to DJI to go through the data.
Thanks for sharing JD. 👍👍👍
If it goes total ban, we might have to move to Walksnail if Air Unit 03 is part of it.
Walksnail is also chinese... just like 99% of the other drone components
that's what I was thinking, and you can't just slap a VRx module on DJI goggles :(
Then I hope the opensource openipc project will get up to speed, cheaper digital fpv for everyone
Hey Justin, Great video and information about DJI and the band. I just tried to fly my mini v1 and I kept getting a error. Hopefully tomorrow I will try again in a different spot. Thanks again for the video and information about DJI
I appreciate you keeping the culture up to date ….
Banned in the Home of the free, land of the brave? How is the government allowed to ban something from public use like this? The government agencies I get, but the public.
What will happne to the people who use these drones for income 🤦
Learn to build, fly with second pilot/camera operator
You think the GQP and the clown controlling it care about ruining people's livelihood?
I'm sorry but if they are banned you will no longer be able to use them.
skydio dont care about your income ..they only care about their income
That is my concern exactly. I have a progression project currently going on and some others lined up.
If it happened like Representative Stefanik would like it to happen, all DJI products that use any wireless RF frequencies (like even Bluetooth) would have their type acceptance revoked. It's crazy to think that even their Osmo or Ronin Stabilizers would be prohibited. Fortunately, with DJI's announcement they've let all the air out of that balloon.
I honestly wanted the Avata2 for my birthday and then cancelled the order due to this potential issue. If a communications ban happens, can't you just use not update the app and keep your phone offline?
Yes u can still use it fine!
I tried skipping an update the first week I had the Avata 2. After flying I transferred some video off my drone then got ready to take off again. This was not an aircraft firmware update, it was simply a DJI fly app update.
When I tried to take off I was grounded due to a "Remote ID Error" and the drone would not start. I was forced to update the fly app on my phone in order to get back in the air.
DJI has already created several new brands name like Cogito Specta, once dji is banned, you can still get the Cogito drones.
I don’t think they go banned
does this include 03 air units and caddx vistas?
Anything DJI or China related
Yes. ALL DJI products - even handheld
VENEZUELA? No, the land of freedom! 😂😂😂😂😂 The same country which is banning TikTok
I just bought my mini 4 pro yesterday 😃😅
Even if it passes the House tomorrow, June 12th, it still needs to pass the Senate and the President sign it. Furthermore, you will still be able to fly currently owned DJI drones. The ban on buying DJI drones will be phased in over 4 years with tariffs going up each year.
How do you know we can still fly dji drones that we already own?
You're confusing HR 2864 with the (DFR) Drones for first responders bill...
I just picked up a Mini 3, im still within my return window. I dont know what to do.
Keep it. Frig em
I have an Avata coming today and I’m going to fly it… you should fly yours as well.
I updated the DJI FLY app and now it wont fly/pair on my air 2 and the air 2s says i only have 2 flights left before some BS forced crap?? What gives?
You will be able to use AIRDATA to upload flight records
When do you guys find out I'm uk based?
Oh and you think this is the "Land of the Free".
How about Ban politicians.
I wander where the goverment and our military gets their computers? Or the parts and computers for our jets, tanks, etc etc 🤔
Oh No I was about to buy a refurbished mini 4 pro .. is on stock for a good price
What’s the deal with DJI U.S.? Did a real quick check about DJI and there’s a DJI that’s listed in California.
Let’s try not to get all doom and gloom right away, a company like DJI which realizes that they may be affected by this globally.
What should be done is DJI USA should have an oversight committee for what can be done to blanket the security protocols needed to eliminate possible security threats.
We shouldn’t have to find out that our equipment gets bricked or something like getting our drones lost due to program and security protocols being implemented. Maybe DJI China has to provide programs to become open source and possibly even being built here instead of overseas.
Then fight back for ur right
Imagine if iPhone were Chinese brand
Good thing we got the dji on philippines. (I literary can able to buy)
I thought the flight record just showed the controls at a time of an incident. Why would you need video when all the actions of the drone is captured at the time of the incident? 😮
So samsung aint a problem?
when everything's outlawed we should all be in prison. no compliance!
Will this affect Canada at all?
its legislation in the US.... so no, it does not. Like remote ID and other US legislation, that is US only. How it impacts the company is another thing, because the US is probably their biggest market
Not immediately. But maybe over time DJI may decide to sell less product in Canada, as the supply chain will become more expensive.
I am looking for a drone that I can mount my new GoPro Hero 3 camera to and just fly it down the fairways on disc golf courses that I measure out for myself to practice on as a Hobbie. Which drone(s) would you recommend that I do not have to register and don't have to get a license for or any of that nonsense? I have never owned a drone, and just want something that does not already have a camera built in or any fancy stuff. Just a simple drone to mount my camera on and just mind my own business doing flyovers of disc golf fairways while I have the course all to myself. This is NOT for business purposes whatsoever
Because China doesn't already have satellites that can pick up a license plate. PPPfffttt.
exactly! this has nothing to do with "Spying" this is a straight up geopolitical move to force DJI out of the US market so another company has less competition. This is tyrannical style governing!
✌🏻😎🏴It’s hard to make people believe in aliens if people can stream the truth straight to TH-cam 😂. Can’t say it’s aliens if we can clearly see the pilot is human 😂.
this is flat out geopolitical warfare.
For sure
Also has to get through the senate
I wonder if drones are "arms" protected by the US 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution...
May have to be able to be carried (bearable) by one person? Maybe 50 lbs?
DJI may have a good legal case here in the US.
Does she want to radicalize drone pilots? Because this is how you radicalize drone pilots.
These back door laws, cause I don't know if this one is really pork barrel but seems like, are terrible. Also there's so many other drone companies, like Holystone, and this law would shed light on all of them and the next step would be a total ban. This is overreach.
Just cancelled my DJI Air 3 order and with that, I will never vote again! I will not be responsible for voting in the garbage that takes our rights and livelihood away!
Uhhhh Stefanik. Sheesh. 🙄
Ohh, man!
well that's dumb
I dont mind moving to hdzero if this happens, but my wallet doesnt agree with me.
Learn to build, fly with second pilot/camera operator
If they do it I’ll like my money back at least
This will not just affect drones. This will effect EVERTHING WITH A WIFI OR BLUETOOTH , YOUR dji camera,s microphones with wireless tech etc. This HAS TOO BE VOTED DOWN FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND COUNTY
Well looks like Congress didn't take that into consideration because the vote passed.
DJI will, unfortunately, most likely become banned throughout the United States. This includes all the goggles as well.
I've never been a fan of DJI the 'Apple of the drone hobby', they nearly ruined the hobby completely, I quit about 8 years ago, and recently got back into it, I quit thanks to DJI bringing in 'Trendy' idiots doing stupid things with them with no regard for rules etc, Hardly DJI's fault I admit and they make some darn nice equipment, but sadly in the early days with the release of the phantom some real stupid dummies made the hobby look bad.
I understand the concerns, but I'll guarantee you a DJI ban will expand across other drone hobby manufacturers eventually.
Let's hope this does not happen, and DJI come to some sort of agreement.to keep these out there.
😕😕😕😕😕
I wish these people would just mind there own business
There is no good - this will put me out of business.
Yall dont let anymore updates download...take the wifi off and f the feds
Never comply
I guess is time for me to find another Hobby.
I was going to buy the mavic 3 pro , my god glad i did not purchase yet
build your own will forever be an option
The end result will be that DJI hardware will lose its FCC certification. Obvious DJI drones might have issues but VTXs...just fly and have fun. Don't do stupid stuff.
Goodnews..that the prize ill go down
Obviously, Rep. Stefanik has everything running like a well oiled maching in District 21 and she has nothing else to focus her time and energy on. The vast majority of politicians are only in the business of politics for one of two reasons. They are looking for their 15 minutes of fame... or, they have an opportunity to make a buttload of money because of connections to the business / industrial / financial leaders that they can pander to and line their pockets. I don't know what Stefanik's intentions are but, I'm sure it's one or the other...
It does not seem strange at all to me that a Republican is voting against the freedom of commerce and the freedom of choice for consumers in favor of protecting the interests of companies that engage in lobbying.
Protectionist Trade Policies
Restrictions on Technology Imports (e.g., Huawei)
Support for Local Content Requirements
These actions often lead to higher prices for consumers, reduced availability of products, and can stifle innovation. These laws are frequently designed to protect the interests of companies that engage in lobbying, rather than genuinely enhancing economic security or benefiting the broader public.
Irrelevant.
They just don't like China.
I think this will force innovation from other drone companies
Drones are going to suck for the next five years till they might can kinda catch up
Glad to see politicians doing their job. Now American drone companies can exist.
What's stopping them from existing? If any American drone company wanted to compete with DJI why haven't they already?
I wont touch DJI until they remove ALL the Remote ID / tracking etc.
Remote ID doesn't have anything to do with DJI. That's the FAA.
lmao remote id is, once again, the result of america's government. I fly my dji fpv without remote id all the time...gonna go rip a pack ina few minutes actually
It’s all about politics nothing else
Why government don’t take action on guns control that’s a big problem and why this obsession with dji is a lot people using dji product like cameras drones charging power plants etc the problem is United States don’t have competition with dji this problem affects not just us affect everyone on the industry using this drones filming companies etc I hope 🤞 nothing happens
I hope DJI go out of business
Crap quality and overpriced
My mavic air 2 crashed into the sea because it got interference from another person in the area flying the same drone i had
My drone lost all control and support at DJI said bad luck and did nothing.
Also the photo quality was rubbish.
So yeah I hope they go bankrupt.
Maybe its the pilot and not the drone? Have you ever considered that?
Elise Stefanik...is that you?
Wishful thinking.
The problem is there are no other drone companies to be trusted dont know what to do or which drone to buy if its really banned
I hope Skydio goes out of business since they got this MAGA nut congresswoman from New York to create a DJI bill. I hope DJI sues Skydio into bankruptcy.
DJI is still not ban on philippines because there's no any issue.🥱(It never ban at DJI) (Good news)
