Just came from a vapid/narcissist road vlog where the camera was constantly on her (primarily) and him (a close second). Her mouth breathing reaction to the road (instead of letting us see the road). Her portrait reaction to "this spot is insaaaaane you guyz!" they sat at by a lake. You know, instead of showing us the spot and its view of the lake. His eyerolling "Glad she left" reaction to the lady who drove off from a hot spring when they showed up and didn't pet their dog.
The difference between a "real people" channel and a cash & fame grab are definitely detectable.
Are you blind an deaf? Literally background music, fancy editing and they even plugged their insta...they even cooked salmon. I mean.. Ive been doing this in every season in the PNW and don't film shit because it's my life, for me. They can't even eat without a camera. " Weird angle".. lolz

Y’all just sold me an amazing experience for free...the way this was filmed was so personal that I could picture myself being there, feeling the warmth of the coal heater, the cozyness of the cramped space, the coldness of the frozen landscape! Awesome video, you guys achieved the main goal of youtube, which is to give content for people to enjoy and experience.

Rewatching this a year later it’s crazy how deep we are still in it. I definitely look forward to my tiny off the grid life. Researching & preparing for this life has us prepared for lockdown. We always stock up on food, I don’t much like being around a lot of people. I just stay home, watch y’all and crochet!
I really appreciate the simplicity of life that you guys are afforded. In my life, I've lived in a Scamp, Tee-Pee, off grid solar cabin, converted school bus....but now I am a single father with a 5 year old little boy. My freedom has been compromised! lol. I joke, but I really do miss the simplicity. I'm now a slave to a very expensive 30 day rent cycle...
Would you be able to take your son on the road with you? I've watched alot of single mothers/fathers and families living on the road and van living. Most if not all homeschool their children and they children really seem to enjoy it. When I was little I know I would have loved it. Imagine studying the Grand Canyon and actually going there for a field trip. Anyway if that's not what you can do I wish you and your son peace, love and light. Nothing more important than our babies. Namaste 😀
If there's a will, there's a way. If you can figure out how to make an income on the road, there's no reason why you couldn't homeschool your little boy and hit the road.🌠
Follow your dreams no matter what, and I'm sure your son would love to travel with you even on short trips.

Howdy! I'm 73 and living on 5 marvelous acres in the country 50 miles from Louisville. Our son was born in Ft. Lauderdale in 1978 when we lived in Lauderdale Lakes. I hardly go out anymore so this idea of quarantine is nothing new. Cheers!

I am 74 years old,with 5 of the illnesses that make people vulnerable,immune system not to good,but thanks to you both I am now on cacao and coconut oil,only through watching your video’s,can you recommend anything else to build my system up,thank you both again xxxxxx
Vitamin D is very important because it regulates our immune system. Foods that are rich in vitamin D are: salmon, tuna, sardines, cod liver oil, eggs, mushrooms, beef liver, and most {cow’s milk, cereals, yogurt & OJ} in the US are fortified with vitamin D. If you happen to be on a restricted diet, you may want to order some supplements to be delivered to your home. Walgreens has vitamins on sale~ BOGO. Good health to you!

Get a simple tarp to cover the car, so much easier to remove the snow.
They also need a tarp to cover their cooking area. Clearing all that snow so you can use the stove would drive me nuts.

Here in Ireland when we get a few inches of snow the country goes into lock down the two of ye would put us to shame cooking outside, and carrying on living most folks wouldn't stir outside the snow young and resilience is on your side as well I guess stay safe folks it's amazing how well matched both of ye are with outdoor life, respect to both of ye 😎👏
Lower just one leg of the awning leaving the other at full height. It'll channel some snow (depending on how heavy of a snowfall) and rain into a corner.
That’s how we had it. 🤙🏼 There’s still a dip in the center that collects snow over time. I have a shower curtain rod to push the center up. We’ll likely use that when it gets rainy.
Barron Link the more you use your awning the tighter the fabric will become ( a learning curve for it , if you will).. After a bit you will see it stand TIGHT n snow should slide off as you had planned.. Nice upgrade for your home!
Snow (especially in the Cascades is sticky. It will stick to nearly vertical fabric. We constantly had it stick to our mountaineering tent. Maybe silicon impregnated nylon would be better, but I wouldn't count on it.

12:26 perfectly captures every experience I've had winter/spring camping with a partner. Two people silently standing motionless in the cold, holding hands, blankly staring at food, waiting for it to cook.

I lived and worked out of my 99 Durango for 8ys cutting fire wood and climbing trees. Just my dog and I. Loads of hardship and great times. You guys live high class. Good on ya. Keep it close to your hearts.

you should look into getting a snow broom!!! i’m from new hampshire and we get a ton of snow and it’s much easier to clean it off with the snow broom then a little brush

Donating time or money or food, making my own supplies into meals I can subsist on, taking care of my mental health. It was good advice, Barron, and I thank you for it.

The trick is...one pole up & one pole down...but for sticky snow unpredictable...just put it away...love living off grid...my husband & i truck driving 20 years from state to state & province to province...always new adventures...work & at same time camp ...luv it
