Although we no longer live in California, our Bay Area roots and long sojourn in LA and Orange county, we have had the privilege to attend many concerts directed by Michael Tilson Thomas (including SF in Seattle, our home). Congratulations to all, especially SF Symphony.
What a joy and privelege to subscribe to your concerts since about 2000. I too grew up in Chicago during the Reiner/Martinon eras. When I moved to San Francisco and subscribed early in your tenure I always felt so proud to be a San Franciscan. Your innovative programming is exemplary. I was so disappointed I couldn't go to my last two concerts this season. You will be missed!
I sang with MTT in the symphony chorus for years and it was always thrilling. What he hears and helps his musicians to
convey is amazing. I truly cherish those years.
I first saw you with the Buffalo Philharmonic, and after I moved to CA, was so happy to see you again. You still WOW us. Good luck 🎼♥️

I remember those arrangements you made back in the 1970s with The Mahavishnu Orchestra with John McLaughlin. With the San Francisco Symphony, you helped create one of the best orchestras in the world with amazing repertoire. Thank you MTT; I am looking forward to see what you do next.

36 yrs with the SFS has been such a wonderful education for me as a musician, performer and actor...starting with Edo de Waart, then Herbert Bloomstedt , and then MTT...Will miss you MTT. You made this heart feel fonder. 🙂

Moved her 10 years ago as a devoted follower of the Chicago Symphony only to become a devoted follower of the SF Symphony due to MTT's wonderful leadership and musical interpretation. I've been blessed to hear Mahler from two symphonies who have devoted so much time and effort to this amazing music.
This tribute brought tears to my eyes... MTT you have made such a difference to so very many people... The orchestra, the Chorus, the SFUSD children,. the YO, and all the world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I look fforward to your return as Music Director laureate!
We had tickets to the Mahler 8th today at Davies Symphony Hall for what was fittingly supposed to be MTT's grand and well deserved farewell. I'm sad, but will surely be uplifted by this tribute. My hope is that he will remain a frequent visitor and that we will continue to feel his lasting impact on one of the world's greatest musical institutions, the San Francisco Symphony. Wishing him all the best the future has to offer, with profound thanks for all that you have done.

Brilliant tribute by a plethora of extraordinary talents to a unique American musical icon. Congratulations to all responsible for this! Makes this native San Francisan very proud even though I now live far away. And thank you MTT and SFS for sparking my new found love of Mahler.
...the hagiography here is a bit much, let's hope he focuses on Bruckner as conductor laureate, now that would be interesting! And Susan Graham is always a revelation.

MTT was so wonderful to witness conducting at the San Francisco Symphony (I lived in The City for 20 years), but my favorite exoerience of his work was in Daytona Beach, Florida, conducting the London Symphony Orchestra. Pure Genius. I wrote a review for the Tallahassee Democrat, and still consider it the chance of a lifetime to do so. It remains one of the highlights of my jopurnalism career. Brawo, Sir!

I was so fortunate to be at all the 1986-1989 Pittsburgh Symphony summer performances at Great Woods in Mansfield MA. MTT was brilliant then as he is now

What a wonderful tribute which we watched with joy and tears. We loved our five years living in San Francisco and even more getting on the bus from our apartment to attend SFS concerts. It was one of our greatest memories. Thanks, MTT. You brought joy and life to use through music from our favorite seats overlooking the orchestra on the left side.
This was a triumph, a fabulous tribute to the most wonderful, brilliant, and beautiful human being on this earth, Michael Tilson Thomas. There will be no Michael in the UK this year, and I'll miss him terribly. There is always next year, and this will give me the strength and optimism to look forward. Thank you so much for everything, Michael. Love you.

I always knew there was something special about SF, yet despite this, I ended up in LA. 25 years ago I was approaching the end of my West Coast existence to move to America's Heartland, where I had the distinct pleasure of hearing MTT and the SFSO perform in Helzberg Hall, KC. A transformative experience. And what a magnificent tribute to a magnificent musician, educator and humanitarian for his quarter of a century investment in such a magnificent city.
Love you MTT! You're love and curiosity toward music was formative for me as a young person and has contributed to who I am as a composer and artist.
