Since Wells's stats against LHP are better than Trevino's against LHP, why is Trevino even in the lineup against LHP? It makes absolutely no sense at all.
Oh great the Martian is hitting well in meaningless games in AAA? Thank god we have Verdugo offering him no clear path to the majors. Or Cabrera and peraza getting no reps because we have former MVP La Mahieu doing so well out there. Oh you have a rookie of the year candidate catcher in Wells. Let's sit him against lefties in favour of a guy hitting worse than him (.205) against lefties because he swings right handed. I am so sick of this Boone, Cashman battery of shit season in and season out.
DJ LeMahieu should be Dfa'd or placed on the IL for the rest of this season. Aaron Hicks and Josh Donaldson were playing better than LeMahieu when they were Dfa'd.
Josh Donaldson was batting .142 with 15 HRs in his last season with NY. His defense was still elite, and he was a threat to hit the long ball. Aaron Hicks batted .188 with 1 HR, and played very shitty defense. DJ plays better defense than Hicks did, but is just as bad at the plate by his weak ground ball infield outs.
@@danshowlund And where is Aaron Hicks now? He just had a little hot streak. He was actually starting to play a touch better with NYY before they DFA'd him.
We need to call out the bad fundamentals we saw last night and we’ve seen way too much under Aaron Boone and his coaching staff. Look, strikeouts and physical errors happen…but mental errors happen way too much. The Yankees had a runner caught up in a rundown and he ended up safe because no one covered second base. Grisham slowed down rounding third and then was thrown out by a step (the coach held him up and then sent him). Sloppy fundamentals have been too much of a consistent thing under Aaron Boone. It can’t continue.
The truly tragic thing is not that Lemehieu is clearly done, it’s that he getting so much playing time. If was a late game defensive replacement and an occasional start against lefties he wouldn’t be hurting the team so much and Ben Rice would be getting a real opportunity
It sucks seeing DJ like this I really like the guy and when we extended him I was very happy I think DJ just had to many injuries and they caught up to him . I can't wait until jazz comes back.

Derek, the leaving guys on base situation has been going on for quite a few years now.... they just don't have the players, beside Judge and Soto, to come up with clutch hitting.
@Andybibo99 this is true but also keep in mind that bad teams don't leave men on base because they don't have as many opportunities to leave men on base. Yankees are ranked 13th out of 30 batting average with RISP, and 5 out of 30 OPS with RISP
Yankees still owe DJ 30 million dollars through 2026, but it's just a sunk cost at this point. Stanton's contract is even scarier but he can still run into one every once in a while, DJ cant even get it out of the infield
No he didn't. The 3rd base coach had his hands up for a moment to stop him, Grisham slowed down by the sign, then sped up after the coach lowered his arms.
Sooner or later, probably much later, DJ will get a hit, and then Boone will think he’s coming out of it, and the Grand Canyon slump will resume. Please, management, he WAS GREAT, those days are OVER, HE’s HURTING THE TEAM, either DFA him, or make him a bench player/coach. What's unbelievable that the Yankees refuse to bring up, Dominquez from the minors. I have never seen a batting order with so many sub-250 hitters. I can't watch them play anymore. I'm only interested in Aaron Judge's numbers

What does this team look like next season and beyond? Rizzo almost definitely won’t be brought back; Torres won’t be brought back. Jazz Chisholm is under team control. Are they going to go into 2025 with Ben Rice pencilled in as the starter at first base? Can they spend 450 million dollars on Juan Soto if they also need to go out and get a first baseman or a second or a third baseman (whichever Jazz isn’t playing)? Are they going to commit to Anthony Volpe at shortstop? He’s been really hot and cold with the bat.
The Astros moved on from Jose Abreu. Why can’t the Yankees move on from DJ? That’s why the Yankees are doomed they never pull the trigger on the right decision.
@archie15900 you are right, but you also can't argue that a 1-game difference out of 125 games played is a meaningful difference. If they were 1 game ahead of everyone else it would not reflect any differently on the team than if they are 1 game behind
Soto and Judge are the only legitimate hitters on this team. Stanton is always a threat at the plate, but he takes 1/4 of a season to get his swing back when coming off the IL, and even when healthy he can be easily pitched to. I don't care how many games the Yankees win or what place they come in, they aren't built to succeed in the post-season. Their starting pitching in not good enough, their bullpen is terrible, without a bonafide closer, and they lack quality situational hitters, in fact outside Soto and Judge, who in this lineup should an opposing pitcher fear. Stanton is always a threat to hit one out, but also a threat to swing pathetically and miss a pitch by 3 feet. DJ look finished, Volpe is just way too inconsistent, and lacks plate discipline, Chisholm when healthy also lacks plate discipline, that is why he was traded, Verdugo looks finished, he only had one product offensive month this entire season, Grisham has been a pathetic joke offensively, once Rice hit the 3 homers in that game, pitchers began paying attention to him, and Rice has not been able to make the necessary adjustments on the fly to be a consistent productive contributor for the team, Rizzo even prior to this fracture looked cooked, Trevino can't throw out my 103 year old grandmother and can't hit either on most days.
