This entire concert never gets old know matter how many times you watch it. Enjoy brother!
RIP Bernie Worrell - legendary keyboardist for Parliament Funkadelic. I was a straight up hard-core metal head when I came across Talking Heads and they blew me away. Love this band.
Bernie was also In Colonel claypool's bucket of Bernie brains phenomenal band obviously Les Claypool on bass Buckethead on guitar Bernie on keys and Brain on Drums
They are a lot of fun band , you can rock n roll with them , they live up to their name , the Talking Heads !! Their Music is Fantastic!!!
That's the legendary Bernie Worrell from Pfunk on synth...and bassist Tina Weymouth playing keyboard bass 🔥😎
This was a ginormous hit in the 80s.
David Byrne is most definitely a genius. I never would have said he resembles Cillian Murphy - but he does have those cheekbones 😄
Gotta love those backup singers ♥️ What a fun gig that must've been for them all
RIP Bernie, just wrote the same :p
Life during Wartime from the concert. Epic!
I have literally NEVER seen a band having more FUN live
I saw this film when it first came out. People dancing in the aisles. It was great. Movie is being re-released in IMAX this month.
I saw this concert live. It was everything it is today. ❤️🔥😁
C'mon 🕺baby 🎸 yeah , very good 👍👏thank you Rory greetings 🌹💫
Seems the Fever has found you… watch the entire thing in cinema or with surround sound if you can.
Saw it last night, we had the place to ourselves my dad and me. We were as chaotic as the band, dancing around the entire theatre!! Amazing.
I love your laughter listening to them. I really love Talking Heads.
THREE HUNDRED SIXTY-FIVE DEGREES!!! One of the best concert films EVER. The whole damn thing is fire, and the House does burn down after it roof is blown off! So cool to see you discovering this movie and their music! T-Heads 4EVER!
Stop Making Sense has been remixed and is being re released in IMAX
Cant wait
9/21! I'm very psyched!!!
I saw them on this tour and they of course did this song but they did it AGAIN as the encore which was so fun.
Background singers…when they began the encore one of the women’s 2 year old daughter came out too to dance with mom through the entire song. Adorable.
And us the audience got on our feet and stayed there dancing for the whole show.
I'm with you!!! As the entire ensemble seems to be totally and beautifully OUT Of CONTROL then almost immediately it's like hey! They're perfectly choreographed. Love 'em!
You're going to love this journey!
With you about the backup singers. They're something else.
This band is amazing and you will enjoy everything they do Rory....I think I already told you but I saw this tour live and it was amazing!!!!
Best concert film of all time. Every song is as good as Burning Down the House.
Fun fact: Radiohead is named after a Talking Heads song.
Beat me to it Elizabeth, great to see more Talking Heads ‘Stop Making Sense’ requests! 👏🏻
Love it, and love your reactions...you crack me up. Your channel is so much fun, always look forward to your clips. Keep it up my friend. Cheers!
There is a Zappa connection Adrian Belew who doesn't play on this tour played on the tour before that.
Awesome song Awesome band!! Their very entertaining and very uplifting very energetic!! Love your reaction Rory and yes, David Byrne!! Thank You Elizabeth for this awesome request! 😊💓🔥🤘✌️Just soooo fun to watch!!
Growing up in the 80s. The Stop making sense album was a remarkable moment. Still got it.
You're right Rory - those backup singers are quite captivating! The Talking Heads styles are so eclectic. Earlier songs are definitely punkish and get more into New Wave sounds into the 80s. This cut includes a lot of funk. Great ensemble put together for this show. I highly recommend "Girlfriend is Better" from the same show. That song may be even crazier than this one.
❤
They're not only great musicians, they're great performers. David Byrne is a genius.
And yes, David Byrne is his name and he is a freaking genius! 🔥
I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this one, and it doesn't lessen the cheesiness of it, but: One could even say: "BYRNEING down the House"! TIME had him on its cover in the 80's, with the title "Rock's Renaissance Man" or something.
Now you need to do Life During Wartime... Is is just as good if not better .. Love your channel
Girlfriend is Better’ is a great track from this concert, as is ‘Life During Wartime’… Well worth checking out 👍
Hey man good reactions thoughtful insightful not everyone picks up on ideas/makes connections etc 😊
Their album Remain In Light is easily a top 10 album of all time. Highly recommend anything off of it.
This tune is so fire...its Burning down the house 😂
It is 2 and a cover I sent you 😉
The Cardigans did a great cover of this featuring Tom Jones
Tom cruise movie risky business has a great talking heads song. Swamp. Its playing on the stereo in the big party scene.
David Byrne is still out there making music and touring. He has turned down ridiculous money to reform the band and go on tour. He has the integrity, I'd guess you'd call it, to say NO....we did it, it's over, leave it alone. In their time they put out something like 12 albums in 11 years. That is an incredibly creative run....they did it all, and sooo much of their music still holds up.
Facts.
Awesome reaction! If you like the background singers they are really great on "Life During Wartime" from this same concert.
in psycho killer he sings ‚qu‘est ce que c‘est‘, it is french and means ‚what is this‘
You mention a sort of Bowie sound. From that school you'd be interested to know that Eno worked with them on the 1st couple of albums.
Also the guitar connection - that guitar "hero" Robert Fripp's on Fear Of Music, and who should crop up on the next Heads album but that other link between the two Davids and the Crimson court
🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
Once in a Lifetime next (and might as well make it the live version from the same tour / concert movie).
Have a look at the Stop Making Sense Movie
Keep on going down that rabbit hole!!!! Life during wartime from this same show has gotta be next
Here is my intro to the Heads. First song/video I saw of them. Don't listen to much else of their work though.
The backing singers are great, but sadly they are only there for this tour. The whole film is fire though, as you have already heard a million times.
The band are at their funkiest here. They came originally out of the New York New Wave, but quickly picked up influences from funk, from electronic music and from African rhythms.
definitely recommend once ina liftetime from the same show.. .rrancscendental experi
This movie is an edited combination of 4 concerts. It's not "weird" that you are obsessed with the backup singers: they are beautiful, talented and integral to this performance even though they are not core members of the group. Seamless integration of white/black, male/female, funk/new wave/afro. It was a great band especially if you accept David Byrne's quirky vocals.
I seem to recall reading that Ednah Holt needed to get an emergency hair transplant to do pickups and closeups for the movie, because sometime between the gigs and the repair work she'd cut her hair (and thereby got rid of the dreads).
There is another live show video from Italy that is much older when the guitar player from King Crimson was touring and helping them in the studio that is older that to me is so much better than this show. Just music no big visual show and mostly one album my favorite one (the one that Radiohead thought was a game changer) that show is incredible the sound is not as good but do yourself a favor and just watch it. Andrew Below just gives them a different sound and Remain In Light is just a groovy funky album that had an impact on the entire music industry and was responsible for some of the better 80s sounds.
Adrian not Andrew
If you take Talking Heads and remove David Byrne you will get Tom Tom Club! Their most remarkable song is Wordy Rappinghood!
And Tina also have charisma!
I'm surprised you didn't say Genius of Love, I like Suboceana as well.
Is the Talking Heads new wave or are they post punk? Does it even matter?
