There are not enough superlatives in the world to describe this man's talent. I've been listening to Bob since 1962, no one else even comes close. Not even close.
Dylan wrote “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall” no one else could have written that. And he was 21!!!! He is the king. Each of his different “phases” is a hall of fame career on their own. Now factor that by 7 careers and u will understand. I hate to upset beatle fans but how many great albums/songs has Sir Paul made since 1970???? That’s almost 50 years. It ain’t that easy folks. Dylan is in a class by himself.
I am a writer, a poet of 20 some years. I've wrote 4000 or so pieces, I've read the most brilliant writers and poets of the last hundred years or so. Poets like Plath and Bukowski(one amazing hombre). But Bob Dylan I believe is the greatest literary figure of the 20th Century. The best writers say the most in the fewest words. Dylan is the best and brightest writer I have or will encounter. No one- Lennon- McCartney. Jagger- Richard, Jackson Browne Warren Zevon none compare to the Jack Of Hearts..TJ STRUSKA
...well, Ms Cathy, for me, it's been 55 years, & 2 chapbooks, with maybe (only) 100-200 pieces i would show anyone; i first saw Bob in 64-65, in the Village (and over 50 times since, most recently, about 2 years ago, on Maui... For the Ages.... ALL live in is shadow, & No one writes without being informed by him & his work....and yes there is a fair handfull who, inspired by him, produce (no where near as much, as many, (Truly) GREAT pieces, from Lennon, Brian Wilson, Neil young, Kantner & Slick, Jackson Brown, Paul Simon, to Lightfoot, Cohen, Joni, & yes, Townes, Willie, Chrissie Hynde.... but They are/have been All PBD (Post-Bob Dylan), they exist, have prospered, done admirable work, but All because BD 'went ahead', off the edge of the map, finding, exploring, defining, & clearing the ground for every body else to build their work on.... (IMHO), 500 or even 1000 years from now, if humanity survives at all, they will be studying, delighting-in & and (Still) learning from the work of this 'simple song-&-dance man' for eons....he found a world, & in exploring it made it compellingly Realer, by living-in-it, leaving blaze marks on the trees as he passed, creating a level, a standard, still unmatched & most-of-all he showed Us to ourselves, for better or worse, taking the blame for it all .... he may well be why We haven't destroyed it (and Ourselves) yet....he "in a little hilltop village,/ they gambled for his clothes/ he bargained for salvation/ ". but they give'm a lethal dose...." ...and, nobody, anywhere was, or ever will-be "quite like the Jack of hearts"..... peace, my friends......

There isn't enough appreciation I could express for the man's music. My biggest fear is waking up to another life in which Dylan doesn't exist. He sure knows how to tell a story through song and lyrics
I agree. This song is very underrated.
@@the_womble_king4357 Under rated by who?? Anyone who knows anything knows this song is a masterpiece and on one of the greatest albums ever produced! Not under rated! Cheers 😎
There are not enough superlatives in the world to describe this man's talent. I've been listening to Bob since 1962, no one else even comes close. Not even close.
Probably true but I think Van Morrison is on a par
Dylan wrote “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall” no one else could have written that. And he was 21!!!! He is the king. Each of his different “phases” is a hall of fame career on their own. Now factor that by 7 careers and u will understand. I hate to upset beatle fans but how many great albums/songs has Sir Paul made since 1970???? That’s almost 50 years. It ain’t that easy folks. Dylan is in a class by himself.
Couldn't agree with you more.
Me and my Brother said exactly the same thing. Nobody comes close to Bob Dylan!
@@david-pb4bi No way!!!!!!
A masterpiece.
That’s an understatement
This is utter classic Dylan
Favourite of our 19 year old grandson.
One right in the eye for those fools who say he can,t sing!
He is the first and the only one
Flows like a screenplay.
Jagger- Richard,
Jackson Browne Warren Zevon none compare to the Jack Of Hearts..TJ STRUSKA
I regard townes van zandt in the same realm lyrically with dylan both are amazing
...well, Ms Cathy, for me, it's been 55 years, & 2 chapbooks, with maybe (only) 100-200 pieces i would show anyone; i first saw Bob in 64-65, in the Village (and over 50 times since, most recently, about 2 years ago, on Maui... ( now, i can say with No apologies & no pretensions, 'i write because of hearing him',... At first Trying to write 'Like him'....Wrong !.... but still, tryin is what led me to the conclusion that No One could (& so i set about finding my own way...and i was blest with some gigantic 'real writers' & their merciless feedback.)..i have seen Ginsberg, Yevteshenko, Maya Angelou, Spender, Vozsnesenski, Ferlinghetti and others, not One of them was better than this man (who once rhymed, "i've seen all these decoys/through eyes of deep turquoise..." ! )...he is Truly (quite obviously) "One of a kind", a master, and like all Masters, one who doesn't care about ANY of that....& with the Nobel, finally, that is Unquestionably established, as you say, This is the One Literary Giant of the 20th century, who not only has produced a body of writing, unfathomable in its' quantity, quality, range, diversity & down-right Universal.... (IMHO), 500 or even 1000 years from now, if humanity survives at all, they will be studying, delighting-in & and (Still) learning from the work of this 'simple song-&-dance man' for eons....he found a world, & in exploring it made it compellingly Realer, by living-in-it, leaving blaze marks on the trees as he passed, creating a level, a standard, still unmatched & most-of-all he showed Us to ourselves, for better or worse, taking the blame for it all .... he may well be why We haven't destroyed it (and Ourselves) yet....he "in a little hilltop village,/ they gambled for his clothes/ he bargained for salvation/ ". but they give'm a lethal dose...."
...and, nobody, anywhere was, or ever will-be "quite like the Jack of hearts".....
peace, my friends......
Best Western I've ever lived through... and never seen...
Many say he's actually a genius when writing songs👍
Did we ever do anything to deserve Bob Dylan. I think sometimes at night.
Kundan Gujar: Probably not but still, he graced us all with his genius.
What a great way to express this. The answer is probably, “No, we didn’t!”
I know I didn't.
who doesn't
What a Freakin song, this a story, a movie even, Absolute Perfection of a Musician/Songwriter this man is
Absolutely BOB.in my top 5. Has to many master pieces.he sings my life if you know his music.ThanksBOB.❤
RIP forever friend...
You go through life thinking you are a musician and then you hear this and realize how far you have left to go.
Bob Dylan is cool, plain and simple.
Best storyteller ever. This song gets better and better
Magic AAA+
What a story!!!
Lucky to have been alive in the age of Dylan
Dylan has always been one of my favorite artists.
No chorus, epic story, another Dylan classic, the story flows from the beginning to the end, with a style only Dylan could write.
Robert Morrison: Spot on! I think that’s one reason I’ve loved it since I bought the album “back in the day”. And the organ just has a way of keeping the story telling going. 👍
It is rushed. Needs trimming.
I love this song and probably heard it hundreds of times but for the life of me I can't follow what's going on. And it doesn't matter.
@@AndreSzykier1 Tell Bob that.
I never realized no chorus...I always took the chorus to be when he says "Jack of Hearts"and then the short instrumental.
I am so glad to finally see all these classic Dylan songs making their way onto TH-cam. Not only for my own listening pleasure, but also for fellow Dylan fans and especially for those who are new to Dylan's music.
yeah. I'm 3 months late...like most Aussies... Bob wishes he was on an Australian Mountain range!!
Thanks 😊 ☺️😘 n I Love you too...n FOREVER ❤️❤️💙 I Love you Bebe GIRL ❤️💙 I Love you too baby girl 😍❤️ ❤️😍 💙 WORLD... WATCH out for the DEVIL......
SHE'S Gonna get......
YOU... From... BEHIND... ! !
So right my friend. Dylan really did start everything. A friend said that Bobby wanted to be a superstar. Then when he realized his goal, he freaked. Just like so many of us ~~ The happiest of New Years to you and yours
There isn't enough appreciation I could express for the man's music. My biggest fear is waking up to another life in which Dylan doesn't exist. He's been a profoundly important bridge builder, piecing together lost and forgotten realms within my being. It's a silly thought though because Bobby's always been here within the smoke rings of our mind...
Olá Valeu Bob Dylan sou Rocha Arapiraca Alagoas Brasil
I am a classical pianist, but I love so much pop music. Dylan is most famous for his lyrics. I love this song and this is my fav dylan album, but I find it fascinating that people on youtube only talk about the lyrics of any song, never the music, the melody, harmony, production, arrangement...etc. why is that? You might as well just read poetry, forget about music.
Its an amazing example of how Bob can write anything ...its like a movie script
Someone once said when Johnny Cash sang a song it stayed sung. When Bob spins a yarn, it stays spun.
Goddamn right, brother.
Man, Johnny's voice. It wasn't great. But it was perfectly pure. From his soul. Helped me get past losing my older brother 4 days after having what to me, was the best conversation we ever had. Cohen too. They both, for me, just kept getting better, more real.
WHAT?
Great quote
@@andyfletcher3561perfectly imperfect 🥰💜
This song reminds me of my Dad. He passed away last year and i still listen to this song with tears in my eyes. R.I.P Dad😢
a cut diamond one of the best no one has ever come close to Bobs talents aint about who's who just fantastic music from 30 years ago
The best version of this ever.
No doubt , My Favorite Artist , I’ve loved Dylan since ‘64
This song just chugs along like the red hot masterpiece that it is.
runntum Spot on!
It feels like I am on a train.
Juggernaut
Many of his greatest songs chug along with repetitive rambling music with stunning lyrics ..
SURE DOES.
A man of mystery, the jack of hearts. Thank you Bob Dylan for this amazing story.
Call me "One eyed" But I think all Bob Dylan's songs/stories are Masterpieces. Kind regards from a 72 yr old lady in Australia. Cheers
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
The Jacks of Hearts and Clubs are the only one eyed jacks! The Jack of Hearts is the only suicide jack.
He is the best that ever picked up a microphone.
It's the pen that makes him great
If you don't have a pen, no point approaching the microphone in the first place
"The only person on the scene missing was..." Classic!
Holy smoke Bob has just unleashed endless classics on youtube all at once and now I am up all night ...thanks Zimmy!
Holy smoke indeed.
I work with a Zimmerman. In Minnesota. Probably shirt tail related.
he is getting old
@@tonycostanzo4276 No question but his music never does,in the last ten or so years I've started to recognise what a truly good Singer he is,always thought so but he really can....sing
I know right im beside myself last few weeks
This may have been made into a play. I dunno. If it hasn’t, it bloody well should be. Hail Bob. A great oul yarn.
My dad's favourite song, listening now on his 5th anniversary, rest well Michael!
What a writer
What a song. Every second counts
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
I can't fathom the genius of this songwriting
This song is basically a master class in songwriting. Gather round everyone, this is how you do it.
Love this song nobody better
She slipped into the side door lookin like a queen without a crown
The best concert that I went to was Bob Dylan
