Campfire Cooking: Fish & Chips | Catfish & Triple Cooked Chips!

- I headed out for a day in the woods and cooked up some fish and chips on the campfire. I'm from the seaside so I have a soft spot for this British classic. It was DELICIOUS! I enjoyed every mouthful. I used Basa fillet which is a lot more sustainable than cod and haddock and taste great. Cooking on the campfire gives the food a lovely smokey finish which you just can't get at home, or indeed in the chip shop. I'm away camping with Joey d on the next video so stay tuned for that.

Thank you so much for caring about the trees. Taking down the paracord that someone else left behind. I commend you for that. It hurts the tree & you took the time to cut it off so the tree would be ok. You, sir, are ok in my book.

I’ve been binge watching all his vids and I can say the food always looks good. Most I do is an MRE or freeze dried food, and water.
Scraps, my mum worked in a chippy when I was little back in the 70's and she used to bring me a back of scraps home with mushy peas lovely

My husband also ate vinegar on his fish, we are from Georgia in the USA. Love all your videos. Enjoy and agree with with your message about hybernating. Great culinary outdoor instruction. My mother used to be a fish fryer and she did a one off special for us. Someone gave her a small bottle of champers and she put that in the batter. Blew our minds. Also try goose fat to cook in !!!!

whenever i cook fry fish in batter in the woods I use me mums old cake tin. It is long and narrow so just the right depth, width and length for frying fish. Save on oil and a lot lighter than most pans

You can put pinepitch in the crack then heat and add saw dust to it so it doesn't rot to keep it for memories

Great looking meal and something I'd love being on the coast of the US myself. Thanks for showing you could do this while just taking a break from the crowds. (Ink in the newsprint contains arsenic in the old stuff. The newer inks contain many things making them toxic.)
