I absolutely love your channel! Why not make it a rule to stop and fuel up before returning to the yard? Like I told my kids when they were young, it costs the same amount of money to fill the top half of the tank as it does the bottom half.
The gas station near me actually has an incentive to fill up >30L at a time, so I do try to do that
remember keep the fuel tank filled .. you've no idea what emergency you may need to travel for or when .. always good not to have worry about having to fill the tank when stuff goes sideways 👍
@@drewtonhouse yes I had a best friend his brother lived in Florida and he always kept his car full even if it had 3/4 of a tank if he went out and went anywhere he'd fill it up because of the hurricanes you have to get out of town quickly? so that way he wouldn't have to wait any gas lines or anything like that.

You don't know how easy Matt and crew make that Kolob recovery look, However you know darn well that is experience making good decisions that make it look easy.
ATV Mud Boger here, The biggest mistake that I see drivers make in the Mud is running to much air with Hard Tires that load up with mud and become slick loosing traction so my advice is to down air those tires and they won't load up with mud and when the tire treads flex it cleans the mud out so you get traction instead of slip. I drove Road Wrecker as a Kid and we specialized in extreme recoveries. I sure do enjoy your videos. Thanks

This "constantly running out of gas" thing would drive me nuts. It's fine to run low when driving around town with a gas station every half a mile, but for pulling people out in the desert... damn, how hard is it to fill up at the end of each day, or take a 5 gal jerrycan in the car??
5 gallon jerrycan mounted on the back is the way to go. Although I don't think the style of lift gate on the morrvair would accommodate it. The can would have to swing upwards with the gate, which would be too much weight.
The way Matt works, the jerry can would also be empty.
@@daneast if these guys can build the Heavy Wrecker from scratch, a jerrycan holder shouldn't be too much trouble ;)

Other channels have found out that losing a great camera operator with a winning personality can hurt. It's not as easy as one might think, especially with the running that Matt makes them do.
Yeah I agree and we are all wondering why and idk why but most the time it's about money but again idk and when they built tucker that 4 runner I wondered them ok did anyone get kinda mad that they didn't get something? Idk what te issues were but I hope they are all still friends and they show up from time to time..

That Morvair is like my Xtrail, the guage stops on 1/4 tank then it's guess how far you can or cannot go 🤣

I love sliding around in the mud, although not much fun walking around in it when it gets stuck.

Vulture poop. 6;10 Oh this is going to be a cool trick. I wasn't sure what it was about. Looking at it from different angles, I guess it was to keep the rear of the truck from just rotating into the valley. Lizzy. Well, you know.
Whoo! almost out of gas. Been there done that in the middle of nowhere. The old Ford truck probably got 9 MPG and I figured, "it'll be OK". God, I wished I hadn't done that. Tickled the gas peddle and coasted down the hills. Miraculously there was a station open just outside of town (still pretty remote). I did not want to be guilty of something that involved an all night rescue in front of a friend. That was with a good gauge; I had another truck with a gauge you couldn't count on (again, something to do with me). We did run out in an intersection. I was with my girlfriend. I was chastised. I can spell some cool words huh?
Hey, have you seen the water tanks on concrete trucks, they have this see through tube that shows water level, I'm pretty sure you can manage to put one of those somewhere in the Morrvair! Just a thought.

TIP: If the customer takes a photo of their vehicle, just use a free app to extract the location data which will be included in the image file (unless the customer has stripped that out for security reasons). Then you can map their exact location, saving a lot of unnecessary driving around burning gas.😁

I have a question how is it possible that the MOORVAIR was more Muddy then the Banana when both vehicles were on the same muddy road?
Lizzy did really good driving the Morrvair up and back down that muddy hill. She is someone I would trust driving in bad weather. She is very confident and a good driver

The tires stick out more on the Morrvair so it slings the mud against the side.
The morrvair is technically illegal, the tires stick out way too far and throw mud.

I always carry a 5gal. Jerry full of gas. In my jeep I slid off the road in mud down in a meadow and had a heck of a time climbing out, had to launch it, no winch at the time.

Prolly good idea to change all fuel filters on the vehicles as running them dry out of fuel is wat gets them dirty and down on power. Cheap power restore with simple filter swap
I have been trapped on roads with mud on top of ice where chaining up all four would not get me out. Only option was to spend the night and get out the next morning after it froze again.
Those AWESOME dogs sure love those trips! Border Collies will run all day when herding, these ones herd Jeeps!😃

How has your week been?
@@JohnFL petty chaotic. Got a sick little one with a 42°C (107°F) temp, but had to go to school for Photography day. (Dreading how they will turn out), had to go into the office on Tuesday for big company wide meeting. (About the future directions we are going), going into the office tomorrow (thursday) as my current/old CEO is leaving, but happens to be on the same day as our Xmas Party. So gone to the barbers to day to get all pretty (as much as I possibly could), but last few nights I've had little sleep due to little one being so I'll and waking up.. hoping I get sleep tonight to stay awake for party.

@@JohnFL yeah, we given her a ice lolly, that cooled her down quite well. And one of the few things she actually eaten today.
Yeah, normally we would have a party around the 13-16th-ish but not this year. I am guessing because we merge with another company, noone thought to do Xmas party organising.

So many comments, I doubt anthocyanins see this one. Maybe, Matt already knows about Tire Snow Socks and all the advantages they have over fire chains. They do have a speed limit of 40 mph. But they might help a customer drive out safer. Just a thought. Love the show. Gonna miss Trev.

Can't believe how cheap and lazy Matt is about the fuel gage situation. He knows the BEST auto electrical repair guy in the world in Chad's Fab. Almost to the point of paying for it myself. REALLY irritated at the blatant disregard for the safety of his crew and customers. Not really a thing you want to be known for but it's funny until it's not.
I agree Russel, its got beyond a joke really and one day its going to cause a problem on the road they don't want to have to deal with. How hard is it to repair or replace a fuel gauge when there's a guy that could do it so easily. C'mon Matt get it fixed, its going to jeopardize a job or someone more important.
It's all fun and games until they are pulling a truck up a big hill and run out of gas and both vehicles go tumbling backwards off a cliff.
It looks like Matt is not so familiar with mudding... Keep them wheels spinning to clear themselves from the mud.

I just had to winch my Terracan out of a very similar situation. Luckily a tree was in the right spot for winching myself out…
You should put light bars yellow ones maybe yellow and blue to show that you are a rescue team you'll be amazed what lights can do for authority
