    I definitely want her! I’m a huge Polly pocket fan and I always loved Alice in wonderland. I wish she was around $75. $100 seems a little excessive.

  • @superstar4662
    @superstar4662 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I know a lot of people want her to be more dolled up/have a more 'high fashion' design, but I feel as though it's so rare that we just get a faithful depiction of her with nice clothing material, on top of that, where she actually looks like a child! I really wish I could afford her just for that reason alone.

    • @FaeryTaleDolls
      @FaeryTaleDolls  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Very true! I do think that aside from the shoes this is fairly movie accurate and so it's a good design in that way, just the price 🫠

  • @anyazxr
    @anyazxr ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Everything else aside, I really love that Mattel is making these collector dolls aimed at depicting visually interesting scenes. It’s cool that they’re aiming to capture moments rather characters.
    No wrist articulation is inexcusable though.

      I definitely agree! Even though the prices have been terrible with the last couple of Disney dolls they did, it is really interesting to see what they're choosing to create. The releases definitely have flaws, but I will give it to them for creativity

    So many good points! I think her outfit is a cute interpretation of of her movie look, and I really think the shoes are a cute design and fun Easter egg. But yeah for a whole Benny Frank, they could have at least painted the buckles and included some stockings. Also I think having some floral embroidery on the edges of her pinafore would've have really added some value and color, as well as being another nice movie reference. I personally would consider her as is (design wise), but not for that price... yikes.

    • @MylingCyrus
      @MylingCyrus ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish they did more of an interpretation with the rest of the outfit along wth the shoes. The issue is it's misplaced. The shoes are cool as hell but it just doesn't make sense with the rest of the outfit

    i love alice in wonderland, literally still my fav movie and i love the live action and im just a huge fan of it and when i saw the trailer i was shocked, amazed, preparing my wallet, then i saw the doll stock photos and i was crying bc she's so pretty and the box is everything to me, but as soon as i saw the priece... nonono mattel thinks that they're a high quality brand or what, im just shocked to see how mattel believes their dolls are high quality that they sold out in minutes when rlly is the scalpers buying all of them, if it wasn't for the scalpers it would take hours or days for them to sell out and im just so mad at mattel, also with barbie dolls, they are amazing but WTF with that price, nothing and absolutely nothing can justify that crazy ass price

      In all seriousness, this is a forty dollar doll, wrapped in a expensive looking box. lol. The price is going on the packaging. The quality of this doll is average. It’s so generic looking. They need to do much better than this.

    I think this Alice doll should’ve been a play line release. Kids would’ve loved the little house and it’s clear that Mattel’s skimping on the details so selling her at a lower price point wouldn’t cut into their money. A kid wouldn’t care about the lacking details as much as a collector.

  • @Yosai-

  • @verushka_ooak

    I love Alice in Wonderland world and have a small collection of dolls, but I'm more into collecting illustrated Alice books. However even within my limited collection there are some dolls that are way better executed than this one and they are all below $100 mark. It's especially funny that some of them are by Mattel from "better times", for example their Alice collection with Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter from 2007 or adorable Kelly and Tommy as Alice and Mad Hatter set. What pisses me off the most is that Disney Store Alice is almost the same doll for a waaay more reasonable price, BUT she was on the market for a very brief period of time. You still can buy all Disney classic dolls with the exception of Alice (and we all know scalpers prices). I'm sure Disney did it knowing what's cooking at Mattel. It wouldn't make any sense to have two very similar dolls with such vastly different price points on the market at the same time. Even being an Alice fan, I'm gonna pass this time, I want the house and the box, but not the doll itself.

    • @FaeryTaleDolls
      @FaeryTaleDolls  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, it's really scummy, but I'm sure that's on purpose with the other Alice doll not being available as long/easily

  • @kristinaland
    @kristinaland ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Unfortunately the classic Alice doll is only available in the parks (not online at the Disney Store) which is why I’m leaning more towards getting this Alice even though I logically know $100+ (with shipping and taxes) is too much for this doll. I’m trying to tell myself she won’t sell out and she’ll go on sale but there’s the “what if” that makes me think I should do it but then she’s so much. I really need to make a choice by next Friday!! 😅
    I just saw on eBay someone is already preselling her so I think I’m going to try for her!

    • @FaeryTaleDolls
      @FaeryTaleDolls  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's fair! I'm very curious to see how this release goes since the Maleficent doll is still in stock. I don't know about a sale, but I am low-key hopeful that they at least will have enough of Alice that she doesn't sell out immediately for those who do want her

  • @kumada84
    @kumada84 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You know they only made 17 of these so they'll sell out in 5 minutes and give the impression that it was really really popular... 🤣🤣

    $100 is a great deal for this doll. The quality is amazing from everything to the details to the accessories to the closing to the box alone. I don’t know why you’re complaining about this

  • @kenzihenderson5258
    @kenzihenderson5258 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I was coming in from the standpoint of really liking alice in wonderland, looking back at her past disney limited edition dolls and going "oh man I missed these but these are so great I cant wait until another alice gets made so I can buy that one" and then we got these photos.......so I was significantly more devastated. And by this point I now expect all mattel creations disney dolls to suck. Thats just the reality now I guess. Cuz like if they had just done a nice Maleficent doll in a nice but not crazy box for haunt couture price I would have bought her in heartbeat. Instead we got a Maleficent doll with these giant plastic wings, GIANT box, and somehow no rooted lashes for disney le price. Now we have an alice who isn't even fully articulated (just wanted to mention we don't actually know if she has knee articulation we were all just assuming she did but now maybe should be concerned), isn't wearing all the necessary components, ALSO does not have rooted lashes for more than a skullector doll. Like these prices would be SO horrendous if we didn't already have a baseline of dolls of higher quality to compare them to. So yeah I WAS hoping for more Disney doll options.....
    So some specifics: the socks. The stockings are actually VERY important to me because Alice lives in the victorian era, bare legs was simply NOT ACCEPTABLE in ANY capacity at that time. The movie design does do basic children's victorian well, and those stockings are a part of it. So for a doll to be a movie moment trying to do film accurate that is a massive issue. The shoes, are actually fine. And honestly if she was wearing stockings the lack of painted detail wouldn't be so big an issue its just death by 1000 cuts, of the budget that is. I don't mind mattel cheating with the shoes cuz crazy shoes is what mattel do. So my biggest gripe with these shoes is that they aren't crazy enough. Like if your gonna cheat and make the shoes extra, go ham with it I've seen what ever after high shoes look like and this is insultingly basic.
    So when this cost question occurs its always worthwhile to ask, "do I only have these problems because of the dolls cost, would any of these still bother me if the doll was 50 instead?" And for me I think the answer is still yes, but at least I'd feel like I could fix them myself. Like i'd still prefer she had stockings, so I'd add them myself. I'd still want more impressive shoes, so I might try other shoes to see if they fit. I'd still hate the house not because it isn't a neat idea for her to come with a house, but because I want a pretty doll not one with a buidling on her. Its the house ON her part that I don't like idc if its accurate to the scene maybe make a good doll first and foremost. So even at 50 I'd be questioning it, but this is THE worst for me. Like of all the mattel creations dolls EVER that I've seen none have ever made me question the price as bad as this, and it only hurts so bad because for 1 second I was excited. Rochelle looks great now, so happy I got her in hindsight because her level of layers and pieces for that cost is somehow making sense now.
    So silver lining, tinkerbell. Tinkerbell is the single saving grace of all of this because now we have a way to really SHOW in dollars and sales how much better releasing dolls like tinkerbell would be for them because making super expensive collector dolls that suck and no ones wants will lose money, but THIS is a very promising strategy that I HOPE they do with more characters (or even eventually try again with the characters they failed at). I like this tinkerbell, I think the cost is acceptable, I love this stand. Only potential issue I see is that the face can look awkward at some angles to I want to see a review first

    • @kenzihenderson5258
      @kenzihenderson5258 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yeah I should also mention I will NOT be buying. I just realized I talked so much about my reaction to the doll I never said my decision as a result. I also did not buy maleficent despite also initially being interested.

    • @FaeryTaleDolls
      @FaeryTaleDolls  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I literally never even thought about the fact that she might not have knee articulation... You're right, I totally just assumed that they wouldn't stoop that low and I hope that that turns out to be correct, but who knows?
      Regarding Tinkerbell, I do agree. Even though I don't want that doll in particular, I would be very excited to see other sort of midline Disney dolls that look like her quality. Very much hoping that they continue to do similar releases!

  • @aerynkyle7595
    @aerynkyle7595 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So the shoes, according to the pics, don't seem to be drink me bottles, they are more like glass ware that was part of the furnishings of the house. Also the drink me bottles didn't have handles so that's why I think the glasses at her heels are pitchers making it part of Alice going through the house in her growth. As for the price I think I see the justification, she does have a house with full accessories, an Eat Me prop, and The White Rabbit is included. The box art is gorgeous. Tinkerbell is different because she is always marketed towards children so I think that's why she is cheaper, making it easier for parents to consider buying her. Adults love Alice in Wonderland and it always eschewed towards them because their have been many interpretations that have made the story and or characters dark like McGee's cult video game or Living Dead Dolls version of the characters. As usual you make valid points and with practically a whole week, I definitely will be mulling it over if I should buy her or not, I wish Mattel was consitent in that instead of being coy with details on their doll releases like Chucky and Rochelle.

    I think the doll itself is really pretty however the price point is ridiculous. She needs articulated wrists, and her face paint should be perfect. Personally, I hate the shoes but that's just my opinion. I love the little house and think its such a fun idea but they should have made the white rabbit have articulated hip joints so you could actually use the house as a mini playset (Put him in the bed or sit him in the chair etc). I guess its up to the individual doll collector if its worth it or not.....

    I see where you are coming from, and having been a big collector of Alice in Wonderland dolls at one time, I possibly would have wanted her. However, seeing her in these photos, I definitely don't think she is worth more than $30.00. She is cute and the extra is nice, but not for the price. I haven't gotten any Alice dolls since my collection was lost about 24 or so years ago. If I do, it will be to replace some of the ones I lost. I wasn't even aware this doll was coming out and have gotten no emails from Mattel about her which is odd. As to Tink, and her price isn't nearly as bad. I might not mind getting her, but right now I have my eyes on some other dolls. Thank you for your thoughts & take care

  • @secretlybees
    @secretlybees ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm SO impressed with her face sculpt! I feel like the Disney dolls usually have a weird face, like they looked squished and odd. The Anna and Elsa dolls are SO ugly imo because of the weird proportions and the faces being unmoving. They're cute in animation, not in plastic. This Alice looks SO good. Her nose bridge doesn't look off, her mouth isn't curved too much like SO many other Disney dolls. Gosh she's gorgeous ... But, the quality really could be improved.

    Okay, so like you, I'm not that much interested in Alice, but when I saw the doll I did really like her and agree that the house look was also interesting. However - the price seems insane. Also why on the box art do they have Alice in stripy stockings and then for the doll they give her none? It feels like an odd design choice to be so film accurate and then give her those shoes. Either go the whole hog and create a look inspired by her movie look but not accurate or be completely accurate - don't try and do a halfway house approach where it doesn't really work either way.

    Tho I think $100 Alice is ridiculous but the comparison is unfair. The rabbit house is an accessory of the doll like Tinkerbell’s wings but in a massive size and has play features. Their budget all went into the rabbit house.
    Mattel marketing is messy. Besides of being money grabber, their schedules of selling dolls are all over the place. People already gets their dolls half year earlier than the official release 😅

    A 100$ collector doll with no wrist articulation?💀She has the basic points of articulation a playline doll would have.I like that she's movie accurate(not the biggest Alice fan) but when you compare it to Tinkerbell,she has less quality for me but double the prize.I'm not a doll collector so I don't catch up with the doll industry but the prizes have gone insane...They are really trying to milk the doll collectors as much as they can.Back at the 2000s you would get a doll with a TON of accesories for only 15$ or something.If you're going for the "collector" thing at least make it worth it.Give her a second outfit or a cool gimmick!I'm sad to see that nowadays most of the dolls look cheaper than the previous decades but still have a more expensive prize..

    So mattel has a license with Disney however they have to pay for EVERYTHING They have to pay for the words “Disney 100, Disney, Disney Alice In Wonderland, Disney’s TinkerBell The Fonts of the film titles, they also have to pay for the disney castle in the back of TinkerBell’s box as well as appearances ect, but Most of the money made from these dolls are going to Disney not Mattel realistically Mattel might make 15$ off each TinkerBell where as disney makes the 40$

      @FaeryTaleDolls  ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, I understand that, but Mattel obviously thought that it was worth it. Otherwise, they wouldn't have released Tinkerbell at that price to begin with. Understandable! I do agree that she isn’t worth 100$ however I feel like for what you’re getting it isn’t far off I would say 75$-80$ I also think Mattel has the issue of pricing something higher if it’s labeled “limited, exclusive,” I don’t understand the argument of people saying the “classic Alice Doll” from shop disney is the same quality I have Alice from that line and I can confirm the quality isn’t better than this Alice I think people are just comparing them because its two Alice dolls rather than because of the quality difference but also comparing a 16$ doll to a 100$ doll doesn’t seem fair like you said it’s a simple dress so Mattel tried to make it more “luxurious and expensive” if they succeeded on that or not is for buyers to answer

    Everything about her looks cheap, from bow to shoes.
    Lace is cheap kind of lace too, especially on the apron.
    She also looks disproportional, which might be the top of the apron being too short fault.
    Guess cheap is Disney's collector dolls motto now.
