It is the pilots responsibility to check both fuel tanks by visual inspection and to verify the quantity against the fuel gauges. You do this during preflight. You also monitor fuel consumption along your route. A 172 Consumes about 7.5 gal/HR. Given full tanks are 60 gal (30 each side) after 2 hours if flight, she would have burned 15 gals of fuel. The gauges would have dropped 1/4 of a tank on each side. If during flight the gauges did not move, u need to land the plane, as you have an equipment failure. You monitor those gauges for two reasons 1. Confirm proper operation with expected reading 2. If gauges read LOWER than expected you may have a fuel leak

Unless that was a modernized Cessna, it's most likely all analogue gauges, and the fuel gauge might have stuck at 15% fuel, and the first thing she would have known anything was wrong was the sputtering of a dying engine. Or there might have been some gunk in the fuel tank that got sucked into the engine, killing it. Or she's a streamer chasing those views 😂
You monitor those gauges for two reasons
1. Confirm proper operation with expected reading
2. If gauges read LOWER than expected you may have a fuel leak
@@rty1955 but this is a rookie pilot. I suspect she did her best, and her lack of experience probably made anything weird not "sound the alarm" in her head, unlike experienced pilots. I'm not a pilot, (not counting MSFS), just listened to enough podcasts from pilots telling about their experiences, so I'm not going to argue hard against you
@@rty1955All of that is well and good, except for your 2 hours comment. She was up there for 30mins. That changes your math to her only using 3-4 gallons of fuel... about a 6-7% difference on her gauges, not 25%. Let's also not forget she is a new pilot.
Women drivers , am I right ?
I'm a student "pilot" flying solo, is the reason. Those poor campers put in jeopardy from a selfish "pilot".
What? How is getting a pilot license selfish?
Selfish campers taking up the landing strip 😂
You do know that solo flights are necessary in obtaining a private pilot’s license?
Telling us you love Biden and Kamala without telling us.
What an absolutely idiotic thing to say.
One thing they tell pilots is they have to remain calm, many studies show females shouldn’t be pilots cause of how they react in these situations, they make poor life changing decisions vs male pilots, but then again don’t want to sound mean towards equality 😅
This lady assumed that it was a man flying the plane. Men don’t crash them… lol😂
Men… don’t crash planes?
@@btn237 settle down. It was a joke.
This is why men are better pilots, sully landed a jet liner in the Hudson and didnt even flinch
Sully was an experienced pilot. This was a student. Guess your ears don't work so well.
Woman pilot, what do you expect
WAY TO MANY SMALL AIRCRAFTS FALLING THIS YEAR, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM, IT WAS NEVER THIS BAD BEFORE, I THINK IT RELATES TO SO MANY PEOPLE WITH MONEY NOW, SOME BUY 200 MPH CARS, SOME BUY REALLY BIG BOATS, SOME BUY AIRPLANES, BUT VERY FEW PEOPLE CAN OPPERATE THE TOYS THEY BUY. IT'S A BIG PROBLEM NOW, LAND, WATER OR AIR THERE IS DANGER FOR THE REST OF US.
I think people are just dumber since covid. Same thing on the roads. Motorists are insane these days
