I still have my Metcon 1's in a horrid grey and purple colourway. They have had a hard life and been a great shoe and I still keep with the Metcons as they just fit.
Thanks for the review, really nice one! Yesterday received my banned and immediately wore them in the gym. For weight lifting are fabulous (I'm not into CrossFit), but when I was on treadmill to do my warm up (10 minutes on speed 9.0, like a do every time) they felt really hard, too many vibrations on my feet and stopped at 5 minutes because my feet were hurting (my other training shoe is the Nike Zoom Air TR1 which is great on treadmill).
I actually just got these after watching your video…. It’s light, it’s stable, looks stylish. One negative input I have is the heel slip. This is almost perfect! It does not matter how tight I lace them up - which is so annoying
Love this! My Metcons are all dead and in the afterlife from use but I still have the Talc I bought to keep these boys quiet underfoot. Return of the squeak!
I always appreciate the super close-up shots your take of the shoes. I think the white provides an outline and makes the foot look larger, and for function it would help to have more visibility to avoid dropping something on the toe area. I do not love this colorway, but it does look good on you for the shots when you were working out.
A big part of the backstory you missed Joel was the black/ red colorway was also an homage to Michael Jordan’s first signature shoe, the Jordan 1 which released in 1984. The NBA banned MJ’s Jordan 1 in the predominantly all black and red colorway because the league standard was white shoes with team colored accents. Michael was fined $5,000 each game he wore the shoes on court. Nike paid the fines for each game and spun the controversy into a genius marketing campaign using the “Banned” slogan. It’s a genius move by Nike to tie their past into entering the CrossFit realm.
No, the actual shoe that was banned was the Air Ship. Air Jordan 1 wasn't even released yet. It's nike's currently marketing story that Air Jordan 1 was banned but it's just a blatant lie. Nike also didn't pay the fines "for each game" because the NBA was increasing the fine after every game and it got ridiculous soon.
I think these were a limited release originally. I loved the 1’s but had to use a runners loop for the heel slippage. I wasn’t a fan of the toe box on the Reeboks so I was excited about a Nike training shoe specifically for CrossFit.
Depends on the workout really. They would all do good but if it was a heavy session I would go cxt. If it was mixed but little more plyo heavy with some lifting rad. If there was any running at all, these. Any would work fine, but if it came down to just a single shoe I think I would still do rad since they're the most well rounded.
@@AMRAP Thanks dude. I usually try most shoes. X4 was my most recent go to for any workout. I bought the CXT-2 only because of your review. Waited two weeks for them to be delivered, but they are very good.

Now we just need a rerelease of the romaleos 2. Please nike do it

It fleshes out the whole story but I purposely left that out for the sake of staying on track with these shoes.

if they re-release the black volt colorway, I'm in on a pair.
I’ve got the OG in red and in the blue… deadstock, I never have the guts to wear them

Yes can't wait to buy these again. These shoes don't have that ugly rope guard on the side.
Any idea when they're releasing other colourways?
Thx for the great video!
They look pretty cool but i wonder if those would be an upgrade or downgrade from the metcon 9 🤔
To me upgrade. Metcon 9s are too heavy, too vague, not good for running, run hot and don’t hold up for rope climbing.
@@AMRAP thx for the fast response! I guess i will give them a try then ❤
Glad Nike kicked off your review career as I’ve enjoyed and relied on many of them since. And fun to see the how you looked way back when. 😊
I bought them, they are fabulous
On a full training session with strength, Metcon, accessory - would you choose these over the CXT-2, Nano X4, or Rads?

Nano x4 is a shoe you could interchange with rad but I don't like the fit, running or ground contact as much.

When will the Metcon 10’s release?
I have these still, in this color. But all the white turned a weird yellow. No idea why.

Can i ask you what case/protection you use for your AWU?
Wasn’t there a Bo Jackson model for the metcon as well?

stable enough? THX
I'm thinking about buying metcon 1 og or metcon 9
@@KennyL0se I prefer them over 9s for both but objectively I think 9s are probably more stable.
